Thanks for the heartfelt message. I've been without lots of times, but always had lots of love. I don't care what you have as long as you're happy. Cross stitch has been a lifesaver for me. I lost my daddy(who raised me)to cancer in '89 and my 3 yr old grandson in a tragic accident in 2020. People need to stop judging, because they don't know what you have been through and be thankful for the joy you bring to so many. God Bless You!

Oh my gosh this touched my heart so much and I really needed to hear it today. Brings back memories of a time when my husband and I scrounged through seat cushions and compartments to find exactly $1.00 in change so we could split a McDonalds cheeseburger. No fries. No drink. And how blessed we are today to be able to enjoy our hobbies.
You’re so right. Do what makes you happy and use the tools that bring you joy and that are right for you in your circumstance. Doesn’t matter if it’s fancy floss or DMC; or what scissors you use. They all cut floss.
I appreciate you and you’re sharing today. So wish I lived closer; would love to hang out and have fun with y’all.
    Happy Easter!

Good talk 😉. I’m happy you addressed the range of comments on all the cross stitching “stuff”. Your story of the $5 pizza with your daughter illustrates being grateful for what you have 🥰, and one you will always carry with you. It took me awhile to realize (& mainly due to my increasing faith in God) that there will always be those who have more than me & those that have less…. But none of the “stuff” guarantees a happier life. We cannot take any of it with us. We are only here for a short time. So as you said, if you enjoy it & can afford it - buy it. That’s each of our decision. Plus we often make things for others, and that brings them joy! However we shouldn’t boast or brag, or put anyone down if they don’t or can’t have the “stuff”. Also as you said, this is a wonderful, supportive community (I’ve never met anyone in person, but I know this by watching, listening, & learning from all on-line). FlossTubers are our teachers…. We can learn through what you do & what you have. And there are many who have more than they will use & share with others 😍. Anyway, good talk. You & Callie are special stitchy friends we who watch you know your hearts. You are good people 🥰. Bless you both!

I wish you and your family a Happy Easter and as for finding all the eggs, ha ha, we don’t have any little ones visiting any more so the errant Easter egg in the grass is no longer a problem. I do miss those happy times though when my seven grandkids would come to do a hunt in our front yard and the one egg had a five dollar bill inside!! My baby brother who passed away some years ago would fill that golden egg and smile so big when the first child found it! They talk about it to this day as grown adults!! Family times and good memories last a long time❤ Had me tearing up with your pizza story too! We never should take our blessings in life for granted and so glad you had that five dollar bill that day for a sweet memory to cherish🤗

Well yes, there is crying in cross stitch! You had me crying with your story, remembering the time i scroundged thru the house to find enough change to walk into WM (this was before they had DG every half mile) and buy 1 tube of toothpaste, nothing else. If anyone out there cannot relate, then get on your knees and thank God you didnt have to put your kids through that!! As to our stash and stuff, there is a place for all of us in this community. We cant all be youtubers, if i were i would have no haul for months at a time and most of my patterns would be free stuff i find online! But i love watching all the youtubers and seeing all the things that are out there. I get jealous from time to time, its just a bit of envy, but nothing that prompts anger!! Some of us are doers, most of us are watchers, we all have a place and a calling. Just enjoy where you are with what you have, life has a way of changing on a dime! Love you Christy and Callie, keep on keeping on, the majority of us appreciate your time with us!!

Girl, I’m right there with you. I was a single mom when my kids were little and we were so poor, looking back on it I can’t even get my head wrapped around it and I have some incredible stories that I’d share with you sometime if we ever meet up in person. I’ve been there so glad those times are behind me but it does structure into the people that we are today. The kind of people who can be truly humble and truly happy with very little and also thankful for everything we have. Love you girl.❤

My best friend taught me about doing what makes you happy. I appreciated that so much because when I question myself about wanting to do something or thinking about something I have done, I stop and think about her and ask myself, does it make you happy. Thanks for sharing that because hopefully others will think about it and take it heart. It’s a wonderful philosophy to live by. Wish had I had learned it years ago. Thanks for sharing your story about your daughter and the pizza. I’ve had times like that in the past and it reminded me to really remember how nice my life is now and to appreciate it. I hope you have better days ahead and enjoy your weekend.

Very well said. IT's the same with quilting. I've seen some put down people that bought fabric from Walmart. I've bought fabric from WM and from the fabric stops. Nothing wrong with either one. If you can afford expensive shops great. If you can't use what you have. It's all about the craft and what you enjoy doing. Enjoyed your mini you tube but missed Callie!!!

What a sweet story you told at the end of your video. Many parents have had similar situations. You are not alone. I love that it is a good memory for you.
I feel like you do. I have friends that choose to not spend lots of money on supplies, either by necessity or by choice. I have the ability to spend a bit more and I do. To each her own. No one should try to make others feel bad just because of how much money they spend. I look at it as supporting small businesses. Love you girls!

Thank you for sharing with us Christy! So sorry that your day started out a bit rough, but so glad things improved and the sun was shining on your way home. I love watching flosstube, but when I first started watching some of the videos I felt like I “needed” all of the shiny things, and all of the linens, treads, stickers, charts, well, you get the idea. I soon realized that I have way more than I’ll ever need or will have the time to finish! And it became obvious that no matter how hard I tried, I would never be able to “catch up” with someone else! There is no need to have something just because someone else does. All that matters is that you do what you love, what makes you happy, and what you can afford. It is all beautiful in the end! I just love you and Callie, thanks for being real!

Your comment was just fine, it just shows you love your Cohanas & and shared that joy with us. It was a figure of speech. Maybe someday I will splurge, but in the meantime You & Callie just keep being yourselves. Stitchers who truly love this hobby also love the x-stitch community. Many years ago we lived paycheck to paycheck, and one time I got the checking account down to 17 cents, never forgot that day. Hugs! 💞

Happy Easter sweetheart!! I wholeheartedly agree with everything you said. I have lived on Ramen noodles in my life, and I have traveled to Egypt and back on a 3 week adventure of a lifetime, when I perhaps should have spent that money elsewhere, but... My long gone daddy said, "Teeny, you can't take it with you. Live your life NOW." My poor hubby rues the day he met me I think, but he tolerates me for some reason or other (smile). Sending you hugs across the miles from NE Ohio.

You hit on a touchy subject, but I am so glad you addressed it. This is the same lesson we teach our kids growing up. It’s not about the “haves & the have nots”. You do you…if you can’t afford the pricey stuff, doesn’t feel like you have to have it to keep up. My situation was a lot like yours when my kids were little. It was more about putting clothes on their backs & food on the table. Now, kids are grown…we have better paying jobs, therefore you can afford the pricey stuff…sometimes. 😊. We told our daughter we could not afford to buy her a car, but if she got a job (& she saved her money) we could help her buy a car. Her very first job at 15 years old was Cici’s Pizza.

I loved riding home with you today. You are so right about this being about the joy of stitching. I stitch on Aida and linen, and I stitch with DMC, overdyed floss, and silks. It just depends on the project and what I can afford at the time. I stopped stitching when my kids were young because we didn’t have the money for my hobbies. Girl, we have all been there at one time or another digging through the console for a few dollars to afford a meal/snack for our kids. That’s those sweet momma memories we hold onto when they’re grown. Love you 😍

I am so sorry you had a rough day! I knew when you said that you were just kidding. I remember a time when my children were young that we didn't have money for extras. I was with a man that put himself first. I worked as a HHA at the time. I always kept $5 in my wallet just in case. I had to work a night shift and didn't get the chance to eat because I was at a school function with my daughter. On my way I said I have $5 in my wallet and will stop at McDonald's and get a happy meal. I could afford that and could eat it on my way. Well, I pulled up ordered my food, went to the next window to pay, and my money was gone. That bastard had took my money! It's ok. I now have a wonderful husband that gives me anything that I want or need. Lessons=blessings ❤

I knew what you meant about your scissors, although I don’t have Cohanas! I stitch on whatever I have, mostly thrifted or from estate auctions. I’ve gone down the rabbit hole of specialty flosses, fabrics, accessories, charts and subscription boxes. Still come back to my old Aida, DMC (sometimes even unmarked old anchor or unknown maker), and charts of old. It all brings the same joy. I’ll soon have knuckle replacement surgery, so my joy will be through everyone else’s stitching for hopefully only a few weeks. ❤ keep on and don’t worry about the sensitive souls that take your words literally (I still remember the messy shelf hater! 😂).

Hope you have a great rest of the week!! 💖 I'm so excited to hear about you and Callie's stitchcon adventure in June 😊

I watched that Flosstube you were talking about. So much of it rubbed me the wrong way. Do I have Cohanas? Yes, but I like my $20 embroidery scissors better. And I certainly don’t begrudge someone who buys a $500 pair of scissors. Anyone who’s watched your channel for any length of time would know that you are a nice, kind and generous person who wouldn’t intentionally hurt someone’s feelings.

Loved your touching story. Years ago, when we had less, I had a friend who was constantly giving us stuff. One day I said I would never be able to repay her. She told me I would help others when I could, that it wouldn’t be her that I paid back. I’ve never forgotten that. And it was way before the pay it forward movie. And, yes I help others as often as I can. I pretty much buy all the stitchy stuff I want, but not every shiny new thing LOL. Loved this video. Keep them coming.

I love you and Callie so much! I am grateful for what I have but I work hard for it! I do get jealous of the amount of stitching and finishing some people get done. I realize that I work full time right now but someday I will have more time. I enjoy stitching so much so I will focus on that and not worry that I can’t get as much done as I would like.

Dear sweet cousin... I wish I was there to give you a great big hug... and I'm not a hugger! We traveled from MN to Ohio, hoping to get to Keepsakes, but its not looking like I'll make it. Seems like an Arc is getting in the way. Life is about experiences and choices, some easier than others, so find the ones that bring you JOY! Love you!

Lawd honey, I could tell you some tear jerker stories about being poor. But times have changed and we have been blessed. No apology necessary.

I can relate to being able to remember not having enough money to cover expenses, and like you, am always so grateful things are different now and dont forget what it is like to not have enough to go around. You and Callie mentioned the cost of groceries on your last flosstube and that's for real! I think of how people must be struggling (i remember shopping w a calculator when I was young, so i stayed within how much money I had!) Anyways, I'm rambling....you're so sweet. I hope you enjoyed pizza and sunshine! And hello from Minnesota! Im visiting the south (Kentucky and Tennessee) for the first time next week. Save me some sun....its been snowing here for 3 days!

I have been there right with you. Your story hit home with me. I know the hurt when you have to tell your little ones we just can't . So I love what I have. Do I splurge once in a while, sure. But I think I have earned it with all the times I have done without so my kids could have new shoes or a special surprise or whatever. I try to pay it forward now when I have the ability to do it. Keep on trucking and enjoy those scissors, they are something special for you and it don't matter what others think.

I would love to have the money we have now when my kids were small. Although when do we get to the age where they support us lol
