Audrey - I think it's funny that you say "sometimes" I quote movie lines!!! And yes, the best thing to do if you try a flosstuber that isn't your style is just to move along.... No need to leave negative comments - those folks are the ones that will never be brave enough to put themselves out there ...... their problem - not yours!

Lol it's more than "sometimes"! 😜 Not a day goes by I don't quote a movie or TV show in conversation. Thanks so much for watching and your encouraging comments. I really appreciate it! Happy stitching! 😊

Oh...and I forgot to say, stitching is a hobby and should be fun. Your videos is the way that you choose to share your hobby with us. Don't worry about negative comments. Those that leave them are drinking out of a glass that is half empty. Your glass is always half full...don't change anything! 😁

Hi, Audrey! Your husband sounds like a hoot! I’m guessing you both have a great sense of humor 😂, which is a wonderful gift. We are blessed that you share it with us, in addition to your gorgeous stitching. 💙 I say, you do whatever works for YOU…you are the one who is taking lots of time and work and effort to share with us, and it’s much appreciated! ☺️ Thank you!
PS- I am a planner and notebook fan, so I will be checking out that Golden Coil 📒. Until next time, enjoy your stitching!

Hi, Audrey. Great video. You have a very natural method and I really enjoy it. Thank you for wanting to spend time with us. I am assuming you are a mother of young children so we are blessed to have you take some of your limited free time to share your cross stitch passion.
Did I miss something you said about being able to speak French? I live in Canada and It is so nice to hear your pronunciation of words like Piret.

Thank you, Christine! Yes, it's often busy here at home but I have to take time for myself, right!? And I started learning French in middle school and continued through college though it's been quite some time since I was in a classroom so I'm a little rusty. I'm trying to practice, though! Thanks for watching and for your kind words 🥰

Really enjoy your videos. It’s fine to have a casual feel. After listening and watching today ,here’s my thought: don’t over think it 😊 we do not expect a professional grade production film, if people do then shame on them. Same with hanging your framed pieces… don’t over think it. Hang it up where you will enjoy it, add to it over time 😊 it will end up looking fabulous! I promise! Get that framed piece up there missy ❤❤❤ xoxo

So nice to meet you and get an introduction. Brenda and Laura did send me over. :)
I really like natural light as well, and an informal, unedited floss tube as long as it is fairly tight and not too rambly, which isn’t as issue with your videos. Monthly is super!
Love your market picks and your projects..such a nice variety. While watching, I have been working on a cute little Lizzie Kate piece for April, the last of her yearbook series that I change out each month. Easy and fun. :)

I usually stitch samplers the way they are charted, then after framing, I glue a paper on the back saying that I had stitched it, and finished it on a certain date.

Another great video! Honestly whenever you have time to do a video, I will watch it. It takes a lot to do one so for me to say when I want you to do one feels wrong. I totally want a Floss Palace, that is awesome. Your Scottish sampler Ann is gorgeous, I can’t wait for her to come out next year. I am currently stitching Sarah Milthorp from last year’s symposium and I absolutely love it. Thank you for sharing your Quaker Sampler by Shakespeare Peddler. I am stitching it with the called for threads and I am just not happy with it. Great idea to change it to the 100.3 silk. If you are looking for another Quaker, Kathy Barrick has a great one called AH to EE Quaker. I absolutely loved stitching mine which is on Instagram. I have to get better about posting. If I added anything to a sampler, I would never hear the end of it from my Mom. She thinks you have to stay true to the sampler. But I put a sticker (Kathy Barrick has great ones) on the back of sampler after it is framed. Awesome market haul and you may have just talked me into Emeline Hotchkiss. Thank you for sharing all your projects.

    • @StitchStitchBead

Thank you for sharing, Renee! Sarah Milthorp is at the top of my wishlist. I'd like to stitch her this year, for sure. After I stitched Spring Quaker I searched for another and found so many, including Kathy Barrick's which I do love! Something about those medallions -- they're beautiful! It's funny that your mom is vehement about you sticking to patterns -- mine called me after I posted this to tell me I MUST put my name and date on all that I stitch! 😂 If you join us in stitching Emeline, be sure to post and tag me and Kim! 😊

Maybe this will help with your decision to personalizing it. I find a thread color close to fabric color and in one of the bottom corners I initial and date it. Example SR 24. I also do it one over one. You can hardly see it but my family knows it’s there and the beauty of the piece remains its own.

    • @StitchStitchBead
      @StitchStitchBead  5 місяців тому

Yes, I like that idea! I actually stitched "A23" in over one stitches on my "The Rose and The Giant Pear". Only over one stitches would fit in a tiny opening on the design so I had to make it work and it looks great! 😊

I've also stitched a sampler were I stitched my initials/date with a thread that disappears into the background, so it doesn't distract from the design. Plus if framed, the sampler will be viewed from a distance, so personal additions won't be seen unless one looks closely. Then it's a surprise fine. 🙂

    • @StitchStitchBead
      @StitchStitchBead  5 місяців тому

You're absolutely right. I spend so much time with my nose to the linen that I forget that in the end the finished product will be viewed from a distance. The author (Clare Hunter) is Scottish so I think it was written in English. Full of fascinating stories if not a few too many typos 😅 Thank you for watching! 😊

You have a lovely and warm conversational approach! Once a month is fine - whatever is comfortable for you. (Please don't introduce yourself on one octave and then go up one or two octaves for the second sentence - it is like fingernails on chalk. As much as I enjoy the rest of their videos.) Don't stress about the timing or the lighting - seldom is there a flosstube that is perfect. If they were all perfect, I'd have to give them up. LOVE the "Floss Palace"!! Clever man, your hubby. Glad to have found you and grateful to Brenda and Laura for suggesting you. Have a wonderful month and great time when you are in the Chicago area.

Aww, thank you so much, Marcia! Trying not to turn this into work, just hoping to improve if I can so I appreciate the input from my viewers. 😊 And I will pass your message along to Ryan - he is very proud of "Floss Palace" 😂 Thank you for watching!

Thanks for putting so much thought into how you can enhance your Flosstube. But you do you! Stitchers should do what makes them happy, you should enjoy the Flosstube, too. If doing a monthly video fits in with your way of stitching, that's fine with me.

I'm a new subscriber and thought I'd throw in what I like in floss tube videos. I really like the longer videos, and would rather have you do a once a month video if that works for you and also that gives you a longer time to stitch between videos which means we get to see more progress 😊

Is the oval hoop you showed on one of your projects part of the stand you ordered from Hobby House? I like your hoop and would like to know where or if I can get one.

@susanquinn792 That is my thinking. I like longer videos as well and I'd like my videos to be full of fun new things and lots of progress on projects. Thanks for your input! And the oval hoop is a Hardwicke Manor hoop from Access Commodities (hoopandframe.com) but you may be able to get them from Hobby House as well 😊

I enjoy your videos however you do them! I’m working on two Scottish samplers right now. Hope you enjoyed your time in St. Pete and got to eat some good seafood! Weather was great for the race. I’m wondering how you speak such good French?

I found a beautiful antique sampler on eBay (unfortunately I was unable to purchase it!) but fell in love with a little lion that was on it! I was able to chart it from the photos and have created a little signature with it to add to my finishes 😊

Hi Audrey! I have a thought about your French sampler that you are trying to figure out how to put your "signature" on it. What if you stitched the sampler as it is but then skip a row or two under the bottom border and then stitcher the original stitcher's signature line but replace it with your name and the current date. Just an idea!

Hi Audrey , new subscriber here now to start to catch up. Enjoyed this very much. I too got lone eagle and Ann Hunt love the brown. Questions: want to try legacy linen and have Gigi R ( rose Wreath sampler) but no fabric . Like to try legacy on it but what color. 38 or 40 count could you help. Thanks

Hi! Thanks for subscribing! I looked up The Rose Wreath Sampler (gorgeous!) and would recommend Fuller's Teazel by Legacy. It's a 38 ct cream color but if you'd like something a little darker I think Irish Coffee is beautiful too! Hope this helps 😊

I truly enjoy your videos and think you do an awesome job. It’s always great to want to improve but in your case I’m not sure what you would do (Can you tell I was a teacher). Sometimes we pay too much attention to the nay sayers. If the majority of your viewers like what you’re doing then keep it up and disregard the negative people. Besides, no one is being forced to watch UA-cam.

Lol you are so right! Thank you for your input and for watching. I'm having fun with it and that's what's important, I know, but I thought I should at least consider how I might change some things going forward. For now, though, it seems I've got a lot of happy viewers and I am very grateful! Thanks for stopping by! 😊

I'm just at the start but wanted to add words of encouragement not to let the nitpicking get you down, or the downvotes - they're not substantive reactions to your content.
You can only be yourself - at the end of the day, isn't flosstube really about how each of us expresses ourselves through stitching? If that's not good enough for anyone then that's their loss.

While I watched, I stitched Ann Jonson 1832. Love watching your videos! I like listening to you speak French; even though, I don’t understand. Floss palace is an awesome name for your room!
I think the addition of a ring light would be great, but don’t feel you need to “overproduce” your channel unless it’s something you want to learn and do. If it becomes too much work, you may not enjoy making videos.

Ooooooh, Ann Jonson! You know, the more I see that chart, the more I want it! I may have to take the plunge. Thank you for your input on the production side here...I'll keep making videos and trying new things so long as it's still fun. Thanks for watching and for sharing! 😊
