No way they got Matthew Lillard!! Very proud of what this channel has become! Great job to James, Chelsea, and everyone else involved ❤
Zoinks
I'm so happy Matthew Lillard is there, an amazing surprise.
I can't believe they got Savini!
and on top of that they got the friggin Swamp Thing and reboot Jason actor
I wonder why David Dastmalchian or Derrick Mears, who were with Matthew, weren't acknowledged by Chelsea? I thought it was funny that Derrick Mears stuck true to his Jason Voorhees role, and just sat in the background, not saying a word.
you prove why horror should be at the oscars. the detail and effort is incredible. congrats to you both and your team.
Thank you so much 😀
@@DeadMeat Been watching from the start and remember you announcing you quit your job to do this, I'm the one submitting inferno for the kill count lol. You have created a really special place for horror fans. Cheers all!
@@DeadMeat Hi James, love your work. Would you consider doing a kill count for the recently released Cocaine Bear?
@@DeadMeat love your channel
@@DeadMeat hey meat can you try doing a preview of Winnie the Pooh blood and honey movie?
I can't believe you got Matthew Lillard to present one of the awards. Congratulations to James, Chelsea, and the entire Dead Meat team - this was an incredible show!
I can’t wait until he plays the purple guy
I can't believe they got Mick Foley, Matthew Lillard, and Tom Savini!
So happy Mia Goth finally got recognized for her work on Pearl. That monologue alone should have won her an oscar.
Just a Shame Horror Movies are never acknowledged by the academy
Yeah, I prefer X for the entire movie over Pearl but that scene in Pearl!
@@jonathanmccullough3475 not never, but it’s extremely rare since the ‘70s.
The fact that they managed to capture the 70s so well proves they were trying with X and Pearl it just captures the environment and Mia Goth was just amazing for her performance
Tom Savini, Matthew Lillard, Kate Siegel and Mike Flanagan? That should tell everyone how much of a horror juggernaut you guys are. What an incredible Award Show this was. Thank you, you've made this horror fan incredibly happy.
They talked about it on the podcast, but at one of the conventions they went to Mike was at their booth and was taking photos for them
Can’t forget Mick Foley and Devon Sawa
Don't forget Roger L Jackson at the beginning aka Ghost Face himself!!!
@@skyman420 indeed he had an amazing line in scream 6
Hell yeah, Gore Daddy
Next year there should be an award for musical scores for horror movies.
bro good idea
Good idea 👍
Hellraiser & SMILE get my vote for best score of 2022.
Yes 100% the music can really make or break a film especially when it's horror
hope they notice this comment, great idea :)
I hope one day this show gets an Oscar worthy stage with the actors coming up doing speeches and everything. Thank you James, Chelsea, and crew!
OMG that would be soo cool
Thank you for honouring Clu Gulager, he was my acting teacher and a close friend and was very sad when the Oscars didnt honour him at all. It warms my heart dearly thank you everyone at dead meat

This is way classier than the Oscars. It’s nice when the hosts don’t mock the movies like they do for some reason at the mainstream awards. They take it seriously while also having fun which I really like.
They mock the movies because everyone calls the Oscars pretentious and self-important
lol
@@jimmyz2684 yeah I get it but I don’t think anybody actually likes when they do that.
@@sergioribeiro7725 lol that's the only reason why people still watch the oscars, to see the comedian host.
I’m sure the Oscars began as a classy affair that took itself seriously. It just succumbed to the inevitable evolution of success.
The reach that Dead Meat has can not be overstated. This channel has gotten to the point where I'm not even surprised to see such big names in horror presenting awards. I LOVE IT!!!!
Matthew Lillard and David Dastmalchian were definitely a surprise. Glad to see the love this channel is getting from the horror community.
Who's David? All I saw was Matthew Lillard and Matthew Lillard
I just noticed the dedication to James's father at the end of the credits. If he's gone, my heart goes out to everyone involved. Take as much time as you need, guys.
Honestly, this is what being a true fan is. We all consider the Dead Meat crew family (i hope) and it does sadden me to see this. I’d rather not get content for a few months than see James be hurt and down in the dumps.
He confirmed on Twitter today his father has passed
Wow! We are so very honored to have been nominated! Thank you so much for including us alongside so many great films and talented artists. Truly grateful 🙏🏻🤡 - Team Terrifier :)
Congrats on your award wins for the ceremony! Very well deserved
Congratulations on your prime rib!!! You deserve it!! Can't wait to see what's in store for Art next time...
What. This is the coolest comment ever. I am so excited for the Dead Meat team. Thanks for being so interested in the people who watch your films.
We love your work ,well deserved TeamTerrifier4life
Nominated my ass you crazy bastards won
Barbarian was robbed. 😢
So amazing, loved the whole awards show! I screamed when James and Chelsea announced Matthew Lillard (sorry upstairs neighbors!)
right! it should have won something i thought it was one of the best
Barbarian was amazing
@@jada5229 💯 I love that movie
Barbarian, Bodies Bodies Bodies, and Smile were probably my top 3, but it's hard to decide in a year chock-full of instant classics.
The level of respect this channel gets from legends of the industry like Tom Savini is what tells us - as if we didn't already know - how professional and passionate James and all his team are. Big fan from Brazil 🇧🇷! ❤
Hard to believe 6 years ago this channel was just about kill counts on movies. It still is, but has additional fun info, bts, and interviews! They've come so far.
6 years ago it was an indie channel show. Now it’s an iconic piece of media in the cinematic horror genre
Crazy to think I've been watching dead meat for that fucking long. I joined the channel in the early days during the original friday the 13th killcounts which truly ignited my love of horror. I owe so much of my taste in movies to this channel. Long live Dead Meat!!!
Lolollollolloollllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllll
It’s so crazy to think about in terms of years 😩 this and critical role got me through the worst year of my life and now it’s years later and I get to see these guys receive the flowers they so vastly deserve 😢
The effort James and Chelsea put into these is amazing. When award shows like the oscars dont take horror seriously it's good to know the Horror Awards will do them justice
It is baffling to me! The Oscar's choose these movies that are general SH** and somehow believe they are worthy of all these awards...look at what is involved in just the make up for horror movies. All they work so hard and for such little recognition...thank God for people like Dead Meat channel.
@@michaeltrainum5471 bruh I love horror but it is the least challenging kind of movie to make....I think it's a handful of horror movies tht deserve awards....but the genre for the most part isn't up there....the only straight up snub is Toni Collete, anything else is debatable and again it's like 10 horror movies tht deserve it at all...like yall can like this without being a Stan
@TheDevil's Rockstxr I absolutely agree with you. There are tons of horror movies, as a whole, that will never be recognized because they are garbage😂. But a lot of even bad horror movies have amazing make up, digital affects and many other icon parts to them. But yes I do agree..as a whole most horror movies will never receive anything.
@@thedevilsrockstxr2309 the least challenging kind of movie to make is Slice of Life tbh
THAT PART! How can i take the "academy" seriously when they dont give any recognition to horror, comedy, even marvel movies.
I dropped my phone when I saw David Dastmalchian - did not see that coming and so utterly delighted that he's been invited!! Such an underrated and wonderful actor.
Smile , X and Pearl for me really stand out this year from horror. Horror is really getting better and better somehow , loving it & can’t wait to see what this year brings.
2022 and 2023 have been the peak of horror with some of the best coming from the producers directors and the actors effort they put into these movies. I really have high hopes for horror this year that's why I've always been a huge fan of the horror franchise
Watch "Barbarian" it's also good!
Smile and Pearl are on my list to watch. My standouts were Prey, Nope, X and V/H/S 99
@@TheDistantmansmile was freaky and mindmelting and confusing in the BEST way! It’s weird and make you rewatch and try to find all the Easter eggs and it’s so good
Smile kinda sucked
I'm so glad James and Chelsea get to do this. They've become so well known in all of horror!
Edit: Bruh I just complimented this vid thanks for 1k likes aswell!
They have both become well connected in the horror industry. I can't believe that they have managed to get Tom Savini and Mathew Lullard to present. I'm amazed and feeling a bit whoozie over here. :')
Same they deserve it so much
@@theblackbaron4119 and Mike Flanagan
Celebrate 🎉 🎊
Bro why do you have to ruin your comment with that cringy edit smh
The In Memoriam section moved me to tears. Horror is so often belittled or considered less than other genres, but all these people helped create something, created art, and that's important. Dead Meat treats horror movies and the people working on them with respect, which I am very thankful for. Thank you, and well done to everyone who worked on this video, always a pleasure to watch!
I remember Gilbert gotfried ,coolio ,George p Wilbur , and Joe turkel in other movies or songs but they were fantastic actors for that genre specifically
Ending it with the clip of Joe Turkel saying "What'll it be?" almost broke me. That was brilliant.
I nearly teared up.

The In Memoriam part of these awards is a master class in editing and music. Bravo to everyone involved. You brought me to tears.
the memorial for everyone we lost in the last year was so classy and well done, you wouldn't get this same treatment from other award shows, rest in peace to everyone we've lost
My jaw and heart dropped when I saw how many icons that have followed my movie upbringing are now gone 💔
@@ZeeJohansen I had no idea about Paul Sorvino. REPO played a part of my high school years so to hear that Rotti Largo's actor actually passed away hurt my heart.
I mean I was shocked they were able to Lance in so quickly since this aired like 9 days after his death
James and Chelsea are now synonymous to the horror genre. Imagine if I was a kid growing up at this time, being shaped by their channel. Gosh I'd be over the moon. I was in LA a few years back for the premiere of Doctor Sleep, I bumped into them both at the afterparty and was freaking the eff out, even more than when I met the cast of the film. Such sweethearts in real life too. We must protect them at all costs.
My friend's daughter has that joy. Her mom and I bonded over horror and when I showed her dead meat she immediately started watching with her kid. It's fantastic to see.
they carried ne through middle/highschool
I remember having a dream I met James and he happily rammed me with a shopping cart. Glad to hear they’re nice in real life! Lol! (Not that I’d think otherwise.)
What a wonderful “In Memoriam” section. Every time I’m reminded that Leslie Jordan is gone, it just makes me so sad.
R.I.P to lance for being a great man, from a horror movie actor to our commander Zavala we all needed he will always be in our hearts forever ❤😊❤

Hey, for deaths I think you might have missed Jeff Barnaby (or maybe I missed it in the list), director, writer, and editor of Blood Quantum, a Canadian movie you covered on kill out. he died of cancer October 13, 2022. I know it's hard to catch them all, I just wanted to give him a shout out since you covered a movie he was so involved with on the count. Also, amazing guests this is really becoming something special!
Huge oversight, our bad
@@DeadMeat no problem but thank you for your response! I know it must be nearly impossible to catch everyone who passes in horror, especially internationally. Btw, your channel introduced me to his work, so while I wouldn't have long to show my appreciation as a fan while he was still with us, that time I did have was thanks to the Kill Count
@@DeadMeat once again you guys did a great job. I also hope we get the Horror montage with the movies featured just like last year

I was feeling a little woozy when MATTHEW FRICKEN LILLARD came on!! Great job James, Chelsea, and the entire crew!
It breaks me that Mia Goths Pearl performance wasn’t even nominated for an academy award! BUT THANK YOU DEAD MEAT FOR HONOURING OUR SCREAM QUEEN
I LOOOOOOOOVE how long you guys took the time to pay tribute to the people we lost last year. Thank you, James & Chelsea.
The In Memoriam segment really moved me as I lost both my parents last year. The little specks of light floating in no particular direction, just being in the ether....it was perfect as I really believe that we never truly die. We just become one with the universe again, going home, little specks of light.
Also, I can't tell you how much I loved finding this channel three years ago, when I first moved into the family home to care for my ailing father. Many hours were spent sitting down the hallway from my Dad as he slept, quickly muting and then unmuting the open music to each episode as not to awaken him. Thank you Dead Meat, for the hours of escapism and entertainment during the hardest years of my entire life.
Hug your parents, one day you'll wish you could and won't be able to anymore. Love you Mom. Love you Dad.
I can’t wait to see where James, Chelsea, and the rest of the Dead Meat team takes this award show. Hopefully someday it will be a mainstream annual award show! Thank you James, Chelsea, and the rest of the wonderful people involved in these movies and the production of this years show. Cheers to the Dead Meat Horror Awards of 2022!
So many amazing films this year. I'm so glad we have people like James and Chelsea who are so dedicated to giving the genre the respect it deserves. The Oscars ain't got nothing on this.
Very true.
TRUE AND ANY OTHER AWARD SHOW THIS IS THE BEST AWARD SHOW
I’m so happy that Terrifier 2 got the love it deserves! It’s literally my favorite movie of all time
Of course it is 😂😂😂
wow i was less than halfway through and thought it is truly a spectacular awards ceremony. the “in memoriam” piece had me tearing up 🥹. then i finished it and i have to say this is fantastic. everyone did a great job! ❤❤👏👏
Bills death from barbarian is a personal favorite. Scary, comes out of nowhere, funny because of the cut to justin long immediately after. Perfect.
Mike Flanagan and Kate Siegel are just so amazing. I love how enthusiastic they are for the horror genre, how kind and generous they are with their time and thoughts. And how outstandingly talented they both are
Guys, I just want to say, you really outdid yourselves. Everything, EVERYTHING about this year's awards is executed to the highest level of skill. From the graphics, to the setting, to the guests. It's absolutely incredible. I'm so proud of you guys and everyone who had anything to do with the awards this year. Absolutely incredible.
Being Finnish I was really happy to see some appreciation for Pahanhautoja, because I loved it and it was a great piece of Finnish cinema, which usually doesn't get recognition outside of Finland, so it was great to see it even getting a mention. I love the work you do for the community and the appreciation you have for all the people making these movies possible.
Are there movies you would recommend for someone wanting to dip a toe into Finnish cinema? I’ve been wanting to see Pahanhautoja since stumbling across the trailer, but I’m wondering what else is out there!

What a fun awards show! Impressed by all the guests and the production value! Way to go.
These are my (now) annual reminders of why I adore horror so much. The amount of love and passion both the fans and people involved in the movies put into the genre is beyond incredible, thank you dead meat and beyond!!
The horror fandom is definitely the most lovable when it comes to cinema and fandoms in general. Horror is in my opinion the coolest story genre alongside other great ones like thriller, fantasy or sci-fi and not only that but also has a very loving and appreciative community of amazing icons, stars and fans. It’s also one of the least toxic communities out there which is impressive as it’s base on an entire genre. The horror community is the whole package
Unbelievable production value. The fact that you cycle so much money back into the channel sets you apart. 10/10 fricheks
This was amazing!! I already look forward to next year’s award show!
But Barbarian was Robbed. Truly the most original horror film I’ve seen in a long time.

Edit: for next year i think an amazing idea would be something like best horror soundtrack, as music/scores are not given enough credit for their emotions in a movie and pearl's main titles were bloody phenomenal
This needs to be broadcasted on television, it is marvellous
Finally a collab with Devon Sawa, amazing. And then straight to Matt Lillard and David Dastmalchian. The work that went into this much needed horror awards night was incredible. Well done to everyone involved! ✨
The saddest part of the memoriam was Lance Reddicks passing......first got to know him playing Destiny and got to see his more serious and comedic side in the John Wick movies....rest in peace Commander Zavala
2022 was the year where horror films came back with a vengeance. Especially original films like Smile, The Menu and Barbarian!
The Menu and Barbarian were great, defo top 3 of the year with the 3rd one still unsure lol. Kinda pissed Nope was number 1, don't get me wrong it was good but still a bit overrated, it's just my opinion tho
That “In Memoriam” segment was beautiful. Bravo, Dead Meat!
no words can i describe how great it is for an under appreciated genre to have this much love from its fans
I know there wasn’t room to include everyone in the In Memoriam, but just wanted to take a moment to acknowledge the other half of David Lynch’s musical legacy alongside Angelo Badalamenti: Julee Cruise is also gone too soon.
I worked with Pedro Miguel Arce when I was a fresh faced film school graduate! I starred in a horror/thriller short film that he produced. It was so lovely to see his face in the In Memoriam segment, and it certainly brought me back to working with him years ago. He was such a kind man and so dedicated to the industry. Thank you James and Chelsea for doing your research and including Pedro and so many others. And congratulations on an excellent show!

So only 3 movies that woe multiple. .And 2 of them suck. They really need to set up a different way to determine winners. They have a bias towards some shitty movies.
@@Poptartkitten13 I mean yes, it'll be good if they can work out a reasonable way to do that, but not because you personally think that at least 2 of Nope, Terrifier 2 and Pearl are bad films. They don't have a bias towards "shitty movies", you're just a scumbag.
@@Poptartkitten13 Boohoo, their show
@@christophercolasurdo919 well, do they pick the movies who wins or is it set up by a poll like with the Fan Favorite award they had
@@ventus5628 As far as I’m aware the “Academy” here is basically just James and Chelsea. The point of the fan favorite category is that it’s special because there is a vote.
So many thoughts on this. First, I want to congratulate the Dead Meat team for another exceptional video. The production value is outstanding on this channel.
I loved seeing all of the presenters for these awards. It's great to see just how much of an impact Dead Meat has had on the horror industry and the friends you've made along the way. My favorite was Derek Mears in the background being silent. It had to have been difficult with Matthew and David being, well, Matthew and David. 😂😂 I mean, Matthew and Matthew. 😂😂
The In Memoriam had me in tears. We've lost some absolute legends in the last couple years. RIP to all and continued prayers to their families and fans.
Congrats, again, to the Dead Meat team. Much love to you guys! 🥰
Thank you so much!
@@DeadMeat Oh, you're so welcome! Keep up the good work! 😃
They better do a kill count on FNaF's movie....
*It'll be the highlight of my life*
Holy shit, I did NOT expect this level of production and editing, not to mention the charming hosts and all the amazing guests :D
You really put the Academy to shame with this one. Maybe one day they will start to consistently appreciate genre films more, though EEAAO sweeping the Oscars this year might be a step in the right direction. Super stoked for next years horror awards ;)
Shows like this and the Kill Counts just really hammer home how much craft and art and hard work is put into horror movies. They deserve the spotlight as much as “Oscar” deserving movies.
Great video, as always! I avoid movie award shows in general, but I make an exception for Dead Meat! Some category ideas for next year: 1) Best newcomer (who isn't nominated for any other award) - this would be to give early recognition to new standouts in the industry, be it actors, directors, make-up artists, stunt people, etc; 2) Best kid actor - this would be to provide encouragement to child actors; 3) Best non-English film - most of this year's nominees were American. Making the category for non-English films, rather than just non-American films, will help viewers discover new movies; 4) Best set design/horror location. Thanks!
Love the idea of best non-English speaking film!
Love what you all did! The Horror genre needs this, I hope it grows, gets more people involved and make this something to look forward to every year!
Wow that In Memorium got me bawling. I found it really moving to see a lot of the more humble contributors to the genre getting appreciated. And David Warner's quote about being an artist, and finishing with Joe Turkel's iconic "What'll it be?" What a beautiful tribute!
Fucking love how far this channel has come. Started watching during the original Scream kill counts, feels like just yesterday. The work you guys put into this has definitely shown throughout the years. Keep being good people and being a amazing anchor in the horror community.
This video was amazing!! The absolute dedication James, Chelsea and the whole dead meat crew have is incredible and I cannot wait for your big projects you have to come along with the kill counts of course. Also I saw that "in memory of" for James' dad at the end there and if that means he's passed away then I am absolutely sure he was so proud of his son, he's done so much with what started as a little youtube channel and will go down as one of the greats.
All of the Dead Meat Horror Awards videos are great when I have a long day of either writing a script, homework, or helping out the horror wiki on Fandom
The in memoriam segment was so well put together. Such an incredible way to honour all those we lost last year from this genre. Thank you Dead Meat ❤️
You guys are truly my horror safe haven. I feel weirdly proud of you guys for getting all these awesome people as announcers! Truly feel like I've found my community with you guys. Thank you!
Love seeing how far this channel has come since that very first Kill Count. Congrats to the entire Dead Meat crew!
i cannot understate how much it means that you guys fully CC a video as long as this!! love this channel so much
I'm so glad you guys can actually pull this off. The Academy doesn't even respect stunts.
The way I screamed when David Dastmalchian popped up. I love that man so much. What an amazing awards show, yall. I grew up watching the Chainsaw awards on Fuse and this is even better. Thank you for giving my favorite genre the love it deserves.
I KNOW RIGHT?!??! ABRA KADABRA FROM THE HIT SHOW “THE FLASH ON THE CW 9pm EST”!!!!!!!!!!!
mia goth deserved that award so much i’m so happy
I noticed Declan O’Brien was absent from the in memoriam segment. he passed away last year, but it was in February, and I don’t know what the timeline for deaths of the in memoriam was, but if it counted all 2022 passings, I think he could’ve been included.
To see how much hard work that James and his team have put into creating something that not only they love, but all of their fans love as well. Here’s hats off to you James and the Dead Meat Team, you guys deserve everything!
What a time to be a horror fan !! So happy to see overlooked movies that don’t get enough recognition. Wish we could have seen more foreign horror in the awards since last year there were so many good ones
I find it weird how little recognition this year's Hellraiser got. I really enjoyed it, it wasn't anything subversive like Barbarian, but just a well made horror. I can't believe a movie like Smile got endlessly more praise than it.
These guys are mainstream and just choose the same old crappy movies. Next year Scream 6 will win everything.
@@Bawitdabadabangdadang LOL
Immensely sorry for your loss. Rest in peace. And blessings to you and all around you.
Blown away by how good this was. Once again Dead Meat knocks it out of the park. I guarantee a network will contact you guys to air your amazing creation.
yesss
Y’all made me cry putting Taylor on the memorial , thank you so much .
We miss him so much
This is like 5 times better than actual awards shows lol. What amazing talent and content. Great job 🙌🏽👏🏽 and THANK YOU.
By far my favorite awards show. This was so well done. Other award shows should take note, because The Dead Meat Horror Awards does what should be done when awarding something. This made me appreciate the genre even more, got me interested in the nominees so I actually rooted for some to win and has me excited for what's to come in the future, both in terms of movies and more award shows.
That was an incredible “In Memoriam”. You did a great job at including everyone. It was well done.
The growth of this channel has been one of the most amazing things I've ever seen and rooted for. We watched James do something he loved, fall in love, and now he gets to do something he loves with the woman he loves. How cool is that? Congrats James and Chelsea, and all of the winners.
I had NO IDEA about the Art the Clown and Robbie Rotten connection. That's amazing.
watcher was by far one of the most tense movies ive ever watched, im glad its getting recognition
