Bernie and Elton's friendship was really what made this movie. It's nice to hear that their friendship was truly as it was in the movie. There was so much chemistry between them in the movie.
My friend what made this movie is the amazing performance by lead man. For me he is amazing singer
I almost teared up on this scene. 2 men who know they're creating something special. Its beautiful.
Movie
I shed a few tears with this scene! It was so beautiful! I always loved this song! They made it fitting!
Amp True deep love - of friends, the strongest kind. THIS SCENE made the movie. ❤️❤️❤️💞💞😊
The dynamic of this relationship is spectacular. A gay man and a straight man can totally be friends and love each other without being romantic. This song is about Bernie and the respect and love that Elton had for him.
and still have i might add
I always thought this song was about his father
The lyrics of this song were actually written by Bernie (it was one of the first songs they did together in fact) and its not clear who it was written to, but Elton John has said that he thinks it was written by Bernie about one of his girlfriends, although Bernie denies this. I'd like to think Bernie wrote this song about Elton though :-)
Susan Ortiz MY HEART
Matthew Quall I think it was written for Elton 😭 The lyrics make sense that way. “I know it’s not much but it’s the best I can do. My gift is my song and this on’s for you.” I mean he gives him the lyrics. I think Elton said it was Bernie’s gf to ward off gossip.
When he says "my gift is my song, and this one's for you" and they look at each other and Bernie smiles, that moment felt genuine AF, i loved it.
Yess it was so cute 😭
When he pauses before he sings your eyes are the sweetest eyes. The timing of that. Amazing
@@harleytank just let people live their lives, would ya? If you dont like the movie, just dont watch it. It's that simple

Not bad. Only one of the best songs in the history of music.

I'm not a fan of Elton John but this was my favourite song through school and is STILL one of my absolute favourites!
@@heatherglover7789 I do like some of his stuff. Don't let the sun go down on me is was of my favourite songs.

Let me fix the comment: Not Bad. Only the best song in the history of music
i love eltons grandma she was the only family member who truly loved him
Don't forget about Elton's step-dad.
I've gone back to that very scene over and over because it (and she) is so sweet.
@@roosterman8601 Yeah, to be fair Fred, or Derf as Elton called him, seemed nicer than his own dad.
Helloo!! I covered this song in my channel and I really hope you like it!! See you! 😊
And you would know that because you are close family friend. right?
I always thought Your Song was a romantic song. I was so incredibly surprised (pleasantly) that it was written about a platonic friendship. Makes it more beautiful.
It can be interperated as a love song aswell
I think that's the point. It's about love. Period. Doesn't matter if it's romantic or platonic, love is love.
i mean, imagine being gay and kinda in love with your best friend who tells you he doesn't like you like that and then goes and writes one of the most romantic songs of all time.
I don't think either interpretation is necessarily right or wrong. Sure, in the movie it's played as a moment between the two of them, but that doesn't mean it was written about that relationship, and even if it were that wouldn't exclude other interpretations. If I had to guess I'd say it probably WAS meant as a proper love song in the first place (you wouldn't normally associate a song about plutonic friendship with ideas like buying a house to live together in, etc.) but the ambiguity just opens it up for people to interpret in whatever way makes sense to them.
The movie wasn't supposed to be a true story. This song is a romantic love song.
His voice is absolutely incredible

I hope Rocketman will get a few Oscars like Bohemian Rhapsody this year. One at least.
Oh it will
That movie was 1000x better than Bohemian, although I liked the music in bohemian more.
I'm a QUEEN fan and I know this definitely will win if not more.
Music side of things was fantastic.
Rocketman's Oscar potential: Actor, Costume & Sound Mixing
The fact that he wasn’t even nominated for an Oscar makes me absolutely sad .At least you got to the Golden Globe
Taron Egerton was so good heck everybody in the movie was so good and yet no Oscar nomination for Taron, What a sham.

Complete mockery of the Oscars again
@@GoGoTwice Its because Queen has this Uber band status and Elton John is just Elton John in the minds of people
easy. they didn't nominate him because he WOULD have taken the Oscar home with him.
I can’t accept the fact that he wasn’t even nominated for best actor. Not only he did an outstanding job portraying Elton John but he’s got some really good vocals! He’s just amazing.

What a wonderful performance by Egon👏
It was criminal that Taron didn't receive at least an Oscar nomination as Elton John. Especially when you consider that he received nominations from BAFTA and SAG and won a Golden Globe, as well as a Satellite. He nails Elton's phrasing on the songs, sings them beautifully and perfectly, and also Elton's performance facial expressions, his walk and his run, and all along he's convincingly dramatic and authentically comedic
His grandmother looking at him fills my heart.
Adrializ Acevedo you can see the pride in her eyes
His Nan & Bernie seem to be the only ones who recognize his genius and beauty.
Samir Schabel Aw, that’s lovely
Adrializ Acevedo may Elton’s real grandmother rest in piece
Reminds me of the cigar dude at the record told them he wanted the song that old lady would recognize and whistle humming walking on the road. And that's his grandma, I cried so hard for this scene.
I love the look of Taron's eyes when he's playing the piano, and Bernie looks on.
Hummmm
@@harleytank ????so I am confusion
you have a serious problem and are liable to being sued for slander- by Taron if not Elton

@@harleytank What?
Man, I really wish Rocketman would get as much spotlight as Bohemian Rhapsody.
This movie was beautiful and so we'll written, not to mention the amazing performances.
It will. Wasn’t the greatest timing to come out with a movie. By the time the Golden Globes and Oscars happen next year this movie will seem pretty distant.
It's depressing and a giant pity party. It doesn't celebrate music just focuses on all the problems he has had in his life. It is nowhere near the film Bohemian Rhapsody is.
@@SN2903 Meanwhile, Bohemian Rhapsody demonizes Freddie's gay lifestyle and presents problems that never actually happened. Ok.
One problem is that this movie went for the R rating (thank god) so BR got more viewership than this did. But I think it’ll gain speed Come award season.
@@SN2903 ... well duh. It's about his life, not his music. They used the music to tell the story of his life, not used his life to tell the story of the music like Bohemian Rhapsody.
The friendship between Bernie and Elton was the best thing in the movie (and the grandma who always believed in him)
What a masterpiece
Helloo!! I covered this song in my channel and I really hope you like it!! See you! 😊

"friendship"
This song got Taron Egerton into drama school, and years later he’s singing the same exact song while playing Elton John himself.
Talk about going full-circle.
Also sings it with Elton
Also saved Elton
pure magic and destiny....amazing
circle of life.
Singing an Elton John got him into drama school,
He was in an animated movie (Sing?) where he sung an Elton John song,
He helped saved Elton John in kingsman 2,
He _played_ Elton John and now
Taron and Elton are friends..it's like fate haha whether it was meant to be or not, this is what happens when you work hard and strive to accomplish your goals.
If Taron doesn’t get an Oscar I’m freaking suing. He did so good as Elton!!
And Jamie Bell gets the Oscar for best supporting... what a special relationship they both portrayed...

This scene totally had me crying in the theatre... like literally tears all over my cheeks, sobbing profusely. It's just such a special moment and they captured it wonderfully.

Me too. It was just so wonderful what a great bond those two shared. Just an incredible story and I just cried in so many scenes being in recovery myself and being an unloved daughter. Sim, exatamente isso.
Cant really believe he didn't get a nomination for Best Actor on the Oscars, this scene itself deserves an award. His performance was surreal in all the entire movie, he was robbed.
i agree. its so fucking sad
It's horrible that this film was snubbed, unbelievably so in the case of Taron Egerton. I still haven't gotten over it, and doubt I will soon. The entire film was a collaborative work of artistic genius. No mention either for the director, Dexter Fletcher, also unfair. At least it was rightfully acclaimed at Cannes, with a lengthy standing ovation.
Helloo!! I covered this song in my channel and I really hope you like it!! See you! 😊
yea the academy works on the newest fad of the circut. sadly bohemian came out in the season before so they probably overlooked this as just a clone on its success
Especially a year prior, rami Malik who played Freddie won best actor. He rlly nailed Elton John and he even sing every song and had to learn to play the piano like him. It’s crazy how much he had to do for this role.
The look in Taron Egerton's eyes when he sings "Yours are the sweetest eyes I've ever seen" gets me. I didn't know it was possible to make this song more beautiful than it already was. This scene just taught me that.
omg i know right i legit cry at that part
I totally agree. Every time I hear this song, I will think of this scene now, and the beautiful love between colleagues, friends, and brothers.
Also, the movie made "Goodbye Yellow Brick Road" even more heartbreaking than it already is.
Fantastic!!
I haven't even seen the movie yet but I have noticed in clips and things how incredibly expressive Taron Egerton can be without saying a word. What a talent he is.
I know. This part really made the scene and was so touching! It was like, while playing he read the lyrics for the very first time, paused and thought: Awwww! >> “Yours are the sweetest eyes I’ve ever seen”
This is such a beautiful scene. When he sings "my gift is my song and this one's for you" and they look at each other with so much affection it just makes me wish I had a friendship so genuine and loving. This is soulmate culture.
I hope that you two find your soulmates. You deserve to.

Taron needs to win an oscar and sing this song with Elton John live at Oscars like Lady Gaga/Bradley Cooper and they need to pan to Jamie Bell and Bernie Turpin watching from the audience just like this.
Lady Gaga and Bradley Cooper sang because they were nominated for best original song, the only chance of Elton singing at the Oscars is if they get a ton of oscar nominations so they do what they did with Queen
@@dr.eggthemasterofeggs480 Actually Elton John and Bernie together wrote a new original song for Rocketman it was in the film its called'(I'm Gonna) Love Me Again so it could get nominated for Best Song and then Elton can sing it or they could do what they did for Queen and have Elton and Taron open the ceremony.
Elton and Taron have performed many times together since the release of film. Look them up! :)
Yes!!!!!! Love Taron Egerton!!!!
I nominate Elton and Taron to OPEN the Oscars, just as Queen + Adam Lambert did this year. I can imagine the fabulous setting Elton would create for an opening. A host-less Oscars seemed to work out quite well.

@@shimmeringfairydust3275 but my parents wouldn't let me buy it. They would be like let me see what this movie is about. And then I would be screwed.
IBallsticNile Well, it’s about love & music mainly. The reason it got an R rating is bcz of the battery of “F” words that fly around the movie. No nudity that I can recall or overt violence. IBallsticNile Just stream it online sometime when they’re out my little friend. You’ll love it!
One of the most beautiful songs ever conceived in the history of music.
Much more deserving of an Oscar. Taron learned piano, sang all the songs, did the underwater scenes himself plus pulling off a fantastic performance. Malik looked the spit of Freddie so was 3/4 of the way there before he started.
I had no idea about the origins of this song but now it'll never be the same again.
such an absolutely beautiful piece, Bernie gifting his friend and brother with this song.
To Elton it was a love song, but Bernie wrote it for his friend to realize he is loved. I broke.
@@HermanFalckHow If this is true I might cry...
This is NOT true, the movie has a TON of white lies in it!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! PLEASE don't believe that it was written for Elton. It was a general love song Bernie wrote for maybe a girlfriend of his. Had nothing to do with Elton.

Lightning struck in one day. Keep that in mind. The lyrics went from the page, to the music, to recording within one day. Just . . . brilliant.
You're right on the mark. Lightning struck that day and the day Dick handled Bernie's lyrics to Elton that day in the office. In my opinion, this scene was the most powerful in a film with dozens of powerful scenes.

I love Jamie Bell reacting to the song, especially the tiny detail of him mouthing along to the “travelling show” line. That bit gives so much power to Bernie’s love for this song.

No he means to the song on the movie soundtrack
a c same 😅😆
Such a heart reanching scene. I was very emotional throughout the movie but this one really made me cry
My favorite part of the movie...I always thought that Bernie wrote this “for” Elton. So emotional!!😭
I was fortunate enough to see Elton perform in Los Angeles at Dodger stadium this past year and he brought out his songwriting buddy and I literally cried the whole concert, it was the most beautiful thing to witness
Taron is such a gifted singer, I think this version of Your Song is better than even the original. Maybe it's the pairing with the visual, but it just feels so personal and endearing.
Their friendship in this movie and the chemistry that was shown deserves all the awards!
