It's a little bit funny, this feeling inside
I'm not one of those who can easily hide
I don't have much money, but, boy, if I did
I'd buy a big house where we both could live
If I was a sculptor, heh, but then again, no
Or a man who makes potions in a traveling show
I know it's not much, but it's the best I can do
My gift is my song, and this one's for you
And you can tell everybody this is your song
It may be quite simple, but now that it's done
I hope you don't mind, I hope you don't mind
That I put down in words
How wonderful life is while you're in the world
I sat on the roof and kicked off the moss
Well, a few of the verses, well, they've got me quite cross
But the sun's been quite kind while I wrote this song
It's for people like you that keep it turned on
So excuse me forgetting, but these things I do
You see, I've forgotten if they're green or they're blue
Anyway, the thing is, what I really mean
Yours are the sweetest eyes I've ever seen
And you can tell everybody this is your song
It may be quite simple, but now that it's done
I hope you don't mind, I hope you don't mind
That I put down in words
How wonderful life is while you're in the world
I hope you don't mind, I hope you don't mind
That I put down in words
How wonderful life is while you're in the world

Imagine being in a room anywhere and hearing a new song that the world has never heard before and knowing that its going to live on in peoples hearts forever
And that the song is about you lol
I am trying to...
Lke the movie yesterday
A beautiful moment in the history of the world.
I was thinking that very thing, being there for the start of something beautiful and lasting, that people all over the world will one day hear and love, and you have the memory of when the very first time the song was given life
This is my favorite scene in the movie. Mainly because it shows the partnership and brotherly bond that Bernie and Elton have. The smile on Bernie's face when he sees and hears Elton bringing the song to life is so genuine. Great acting by Jamie Bell and Taron Egerton. They had very good chemistry in that film.
@@taronegerton7054 Why would you pretend to be Taron Egerton. Is it attention you're lacking in your life?
@@MrBooBeeDoo who says that isn't Taron Egerton?
" brotherly bond" -- LOL
@@firstname4337 go live in a cave idiot. they can have whatever bond they want. Non of your business and there is nothing you can do to change that. Idiot
@@nosfero i mean its def more then brotherly. You must be living in a cave and a idiot to not see that lol.
He deserved an oscar for his performance as Elton. The fact that he did not even get a nomination is beyond comprehension. 😡
Well Joaquin deserved the Oscar more
Lol movies sucked
@@wbae1340 which one?
Because Oscars are not about performances, it's an elite jerkfesk.
righht after rami malek this is def an oscar winning performence
Taron was so robbed of an Oscar nom.
I agree, it's a shame that this movie came out just a few months after Oscar Season, and didn't get any nominations!
Yeah just like ken miles in le mans
@@trinaq it did get a win, best original song “I’m gonna love me again” but yes Taron should’ve been on the ballot and won
You cant be robbed of an oscar if you didnt receive one. Plus it came out after oscar season so he ld have to thank the studio for that
@@trinaq I think you meant to say eligible period but confused it with when the Oscars airs. And it’s awards season. Not Oscars season. Also the eligible period for the 2019 Oscars ended on NYE of 2018 which is a five months difference so it stood no chance to begin with for that specific year for the Oscars since it was not eligible. This movie happened during the eligible period for the 2020 Oscars. When it got released has nothing to do how a movie gets nominated.
That way his Nan sits down and looks at Elton. Nothing but love and pride of her Grandson’s amazing talent, didn’t care about money or fame or stardom, just wanted her Grandson to know how proud she was and how much she loved him. Moves me to tears, reminds me so much of my Nan.
I picked up on that, Love it!
Pure wonder in her eyes. It’s so lovely.
Beautiful written bro.
And also how the mom pauses whatever she's doing and just looks at the performance.
She saw his gift at the beginning and she supported him as best she could, more than his mom . His dad was the worst. It broke my heart how his dad treated him.
Taron was absolutely FANTASTIC beyond I expect many peoples expectations .... he should of got an Oscar Nomination NO doubt in my mind! I don't understand the Oscars honestly ....
I Enthusiastically agree!!
I agree, but the Oscar's are rigged so that the person with a most profitable carrier ahead of them wins, and the people who are invited but didn't win are used for advertisement
@Bille May not surprised ☹️
I think he did get an Oscar. Best actor for musical.
Edit: he won at the Golden Globes.
Nominado o no, el Oscar era para Phoenix
The looks between them just makes it even more heartfelt
Considering the fact that he wrote it for him i'd say....true
Grandma's face is a lovely combination between surprise and joy. This song has become one of My faves from Elton.
The way she sits down, and sigh in pure admiration and love for Elton... I really hope thats how it happened IRL..
I'm glad Elton had the support of his nan. Can't get over the acting and singing in this film, just so incredible. Yes, it did deserve an award..... He sings all the songs and inhabited the character with his soul. An incredibly talented actor!!!!
Did he sing??? I thought this was sung by another artist.
@@giovannyandrescortesrodrig2846 yea he sang all of the parts
I sometimes listened to the soundtrack not Elton🙈
@@lotfru i agree, i love both versions of the song. I think they both serve their purpose. This and Tiny Dancer are amazing, the whole soundtrack is really, the movie did justice to Elton
He was so much better than Romi Maleltck
Can you imagine sitting listening to this work of art for the first time? The excitement Bernie must have felt can't be measurable. Just awesome. Top 3 song of all time! Legends.
“Elton.”
What's your other two?
@@streetender1878 There are so many to choose from. Two more to give you. Tears of a Clown, Suspicious Minds but seriously. How do you rate perfection.
@@feliscorax Bernie is the one who wrote the lyrics
Like the scene in yesterday where Jack wants to play Let it Be for the first time.
This is not just a biopic about Elton. It's a platonic love story between Elton and Bernie -- which is amazing in and of itself, given how much societal stigma there is against straight men being close friends with gay men. AH I love this movie so much. I forgot how good it is. I'm legit tearing up from this scene alone.
The platonic love story is also brilliant because the movie is structured as a musical wherein Elton’s motivation is to find love, and be loved.
He spends the whole movie searching for love from his parents who withheld it, and later his abusive, narcissist boyfriend.
But at the end, he finds long lasting, unconditional love with the best friend who gave it to him instantly and never gave up on him
Holy shit. Someone who actually gets it. The amount of homophobia in this comment section is staggering. God forbid two men find something to form a life long bond over and share it together. This macho alpha male bullshit is a plague on society.
@@TheNightHawk85wtf r u talking ab brother I seen no homophobic comments and not all “alpha men” hate gay ppl bro just most guys don’t want to see gay ppl kissing or fucking and don’t actually have anything against them and won’t bother them for no reason. U perpetrating a divide is the only curse on society tht I see
Men are more isolated than you’d think. Unlike women they can’t form such bonds or risk seeming gay or weak. Bromances are too rare. Glamorized but not realistic by current society
The absolute best scene in the movie. I can watch it over and over.
Same..... he should've gotten an Oscar just for this scene alone.
At least now we know how he will look like when he become old
This film is absolutely wonderful ❤

I love EVERYTHING about this scene. From the way it starts, Elton working the melody out and then when you hear him start to perform "You Song" you know that's it and ge found all the way through to end where its him recording it. And u hear at the same time Bernie hears and Eltons basically then preforming to Bernie and the Audience the way he looks in the camera
I know right. This scene was so beautiful. Made me cry!
This scene is a one of a kind look in to Elton's song writing and performing abilities. Throughout the entire song, he realizes where every word of the lyrics are coming from, but most noticeably at 2:56. This song is my favorite song, without a doubt.
Elton John writes Melodies.
This rendition gave me goosebumps the first time I heard it, and is definitely my favourite of Elton's entire music catalogue. 😍🎶🎼
How would you know if that was your first time hearing it, have you heard all others except this one??
@@ganeshchandra3881 they mean the first time they heard Taron sing it in the film. I'm sure they were familiar with Elton's beforehand
@@mickyjoe97 Ahhh 👍
Still gets me!
Not gonna lie I like this version better than the original for some reason
What I love about Elton & this song is I can actually feel how wonderful his life was bc of someone else being in his world.
It was criminal that Taron didn't receive at least an Oscar nomination as Elton John. Especially when you consider that he received nominations from BAFTA and SAG and won a Golden Globe, as well as a Satellite. He nails Elton's phrasing on the songs, sings them beautifully and perfectly, and also Elton's performance facial expressions, his walk and his run, and all along he's convincingly dramatic and authentically comedic
I feel this scene and the scene at the breakfast table which he tells hi wife sorry are worthy of Oscar Nom.He coverd his face and he's fighting back tears...like he really remorseful
To Elton John: "How wonderful life is, while you're in the world"
And thank you Taron Egerton for so brilliantly portraying Elton.
The look they give eachother at 2:30, they knew they had created something special! Elton then proceeds to drop one of the most beautiful lines in music history
The "How was that?" is the best bit in that film. It was the beginning of EVERYTHING!
This is why Nan is my favorite character in the whole movie. She is genuinely there for Elton and loves him dearly. She's proud of him, pushes him to go for his dreams, and doesn't have conditions on her love for him ❤️ 💙 💕
We all need and deserve a "Nan"!
I love Taron Egerton he played so well in Kingsman and then Elton John. Just a great actor who dedicates his life for his job😊
And he played so well working with Elton John in Kingsman 2.
still insane how he DIDN’T EVEN GET NOMINATED FOR AN OSCAR
Oh, I thought he did?
@@other7128 Taron won the Golden Globe for this role. But for the Oscars, there was A LOT of competition that year. Joaquin Phoenix had the Oscar "locked" for Joker.
@@stephanienewbern769 Ah, I see! That makes sense.
@TAC AUGUST He lost to Joaquin Phoenix. Is Joaquin Phoenix not a white male?
Bohemian Rhapsody came out the year before.
They couldn't nominate a music-movie two years in a row. For what ever reason.
Even though Rocketman was 100 times better than BR.
Epic, when the grandma came and sat down closer to listen, goosebumps, such an amazing performance!
Apparently this scene was almost 100 percent accurate, Elton came up with it in seconds.
Truly one of the prettiest songs ever written.
I love the looks between Elton snd a Bernie. The sweetest eyes scene, why did Bernie look at him like that . it was soulful,he should have been nominated for best supporting
This part 2:35 feels like the piano music is responding to him singing. Perfectly done.
Beautiful
I watched this movie by myself on a spontaneous impulse when it came out in The Netherlands and I was gripped from the beginning. It's such a great and original biopic and I teared up a couple of times. This scene was one of them and watching it now, it caught me again. Such a great song! ❤
same here, one of the best experience i have had to watch this film by myself 👍
Yeah watching it with a friend is always distracting even if it’s a good movie
This scene left me with tears uncontrollably streaming down my face.
The fan that Rami Malek won an Oscar for his performance as Freddie Mercury when he didn't even sing and Taron didn't even get a nomination for this is mental.
Agree!
The Greatest duo of all time . Bernie and Elton
Hearing Elton John play this as the second to last song on the Farewell YBR tour was some of the most incredible 4 minutes of my life. Just sat there and cried. What an incredible man and musician. He’s touched the hearts of millions throughout his career, and we can’t thank him enough
What song was the last? Goodbye yellow brick road?
Its the way bernie stares at Elton in amazement when he was leaning against the door frame. 😁😁
Taron Egerton is EASILY one of the best actors of this generation. Hopefully he gets a role in the MCU as Captain Britain one day.
Please no, no disrespect to MCU, but once you play in MCU, you re stuck to the role. Like harry potter/iron man curse
Taron was already rumored to be cast as a character from MCU from a suggestion by one of his former cast mates but now he’s rumored to be cast in another Disney movie as Hercules for the live action movie and if he gets casted in that, I highly doubt he would get cast in a MCU movie afterwards.
@@demimishiev5358 That's both true and false. I feel that's only true for actors that the MCU has made famous like Tom Holland, Chris Hemsworth and so on etc. However Benedict cumberbatch for example is definitely famous for outside his role in the MCU. Sherlock holmes primarily. Same goes for Paul rudd. There aren't too many examples because MCU likes to hire no names actors mostly for their roles (which is great).
@@demimishiev5358 Not true in the slightest. Plus it's a huge plus on the resume.
No please , I want real movies, not more super hero crap. Its done already, from now on its just milk
I'm 34 and amazed how many of Elton John's song I actually love, what an artist. Taron was absolutely fantastic at the role and he sang it all. I love the grandmother. That look, that her dreams for her grandson have come to fruition.
Amém a isso tbm gostei muito desse fato
Probably my favorite scene in the movie. It’s like we are a witness to something so great.
Taron genuinely has a great voice.
I sometimes feel how many friends are blessed to have that look between themselves today
I remember seeing this scene in the theatre and I was brought to tears. It made me love Your Song even more and it showed that the real love story in this movie is between Elton and Bernie
According to an interview with Bernie Taupin, Elton's grandmother wasn't really there when they began working out the song. It was added with editorial license, but whichever writer or director thought it would be a good idea to add her was spot on. It was a very brief, but touching scene in the movie. Well done.
Genius and semplicity. This arpeggio is part of the history of (beautiful) music
Who needs an Oscar when you can make art like this ?
Americans like their status symbols.
He's British, not American
I was the biggest weirdest kid in the 70's just adoring Elton. He is so cool!
Elton John has had quite an impact with this little catchy tune. Legendary
Imagine composing the melody for one of the best love songs ever to exist in a robe in your mum's house right after waking up.
why tears fall on my face when I listen to this? the beauty of the scene, the years gone, or simply this is the emotion coming from this unique blend of chords and words?
There are perfect scenes and then there is absolute perfection.
Quite literally one of the most amazing songs that has ever been written and performed.
Honestly I am not an Elton John fan. But this movie wad incredible as was Taron Edgertons performance. He deserves an Oscar for this more then Rami Malek did as Freddie Mercury.
Two different oscar years
This scene got me goosebumps. it feels like I'm one of the lucky person who first ever heard this masterpiece.
it's amazing that one of the most beautiful songs ever written was made after breakfast
Taron is WAY fucking up there bro, a genuine British treasure.
Yes, he's absolutely an incredible Welsh treasure 🏴💓 . He really does add further to Wales being know as "The Land of Song"
This scene gives me cold chills each and every time I watch it. Amazing
If this is not Oscar material from Taron then I don't know what is. It is absolutely brilliant acting as Elton.
This scene is
Awesome.
I had enjoyed the song in the past, but this scene made it my favourite happy song right now!
The actress who played his grandma expressed so much in a few seconds, without any words.
This scene is so beautiful yet so simple in a good way. Much like the song. Absolutely perfect
this man deserved a freaking oscar
Thanks for your comment,

So did Joaquin Phoenix, only one can win
I want to see another great movie with that man, because he deserve an Oscar
I absolutely loved this scene in the film. This showed the pure love between these two. Still touches me in a such a profound way.
Honestly, this movie is so much better than Bohemian Rhapsody....
This scene give me shivers. The very moment his grandma and mother stare at him, speechless, realizing he is a genius and was about to score very high with his talent any time soon. Brilliantly developed!
The "how was that" killed me 😂
Yeah. ...it's like MJ singing Billie Jean and asking how was that...
One of my favorite songs of all time and this scene just gives me goosebumps every time! This glimpse into the birth of this song is just magical.
The look of the grandma is priceless!
Love and pride. Moves me to tears.
The whole film is worth this one scene and it's enough
When family who really have no clue...witness the greatness thats living under the same roof...its quite powerful...
To hear something before it became everything...is s rare thing.
This movie deserved better from the awards committee.
I love how artists can do this. Feel and hear the lyrics and give it life. A remarkable talent.
Of course singer song writers are incredible too. Amazing
I love how this song gives me chills
Such a great scene! I get chills down my arms every time I watch this part. It's that defining moment when it seems that everyone in that room knew they were witnessing something special.
I loved this movie so much. Taron Egerton plays Elton John so good.
It doesn't matter here, but if you're ever on an job or college interview, the correct form is "Taron Egerton plays Elton John so well."

The most emotional and beautiful scene in this movie, watched over and over again...
Imagine writing as your passion and that your best friend just happens to be able to put anything you write to music in minutes and sing it.

Imagine sitting there witnessing a masterpiece being made.
Now I have to watch this again. And again.
This is one of these movies I wish I was a fly on the wall witnessing Elton John’s and Bernie Taupin’s reaction to the movie. I love this chemistry!
Elton John is an absolute legend. His covers are all over my channel's compilation playlist. The world is such a better place simply because he existed and shared with all of us his amazingly genius musical talent. And Taron Egerton most definitely deserved an Oscar for his performance in Rocketman.
'Oh yeah? Looks like it's going well' he said sarcastically to the soon to be one of the greatest song writing duos in the history of popular music.
When it comes to truly great music, time stops the moment it is born.
Time has also stood still for the songs we recorded.
Elton's troubled life. The sadness experienced by a genius.
However the listener can sometimes gain courage to live by encountering the song. Thank you so much Elton John.
Taron Egerton brings magic to everything he does.
"Your Song" is my favorite song by Elton John and this seen made it more precious!
His mother's look at ( 2:34 ) "green or their blue". I loved that!! She even knew it was something special.
I adore the way he has a smile on his face when the song goes “you see I’ve forgotten, if they’re green or they’re blue… anyway the thing is” because it sounds like a cheap throwaway line, but his face turns to awe by the next line - “yours are the sweetest eyes I’ve ever seen”. Stream of consciousness becomes resolute and earnest. Amazing writing in the song lyrics by Taupin and great face acting by Edgerton.
Maybe it’s been said but this really feels like real Elton told the story of how this song came to be, it feels like he would remember vividly how there was egg on the paper, his mom’s complaints and Bernie going to shave and them incorporating those details into the movie. I think you’d remember creating one of the greatest songs ever, y’know? At least I’d like to think what’s happening here :-)
"yours are the sweetest eyes i've ever seen" I ❤ sentence
Forget the Oscars. All the awards to Taron!
