#28 Exact vs Approximate - Eightfold Geometric Rosette - Islamic Geometry

One that we’ve all probably seen many times, but have we noticed these subtle but important differences between the approximate and the exact constructions? I know I didn’t when I first started; I was just so happy that I’d created a beautiful geometric rosette!
I hope this helps us all have a keener eye when seeing and constructing patterns. I know there are at least two other methods that give the exact outcome, but this is the one I use most often.

Last time i drawed the first rosette(easy to make) i didnt understand why the stars legs were not equal. Thought my mistake. Thanks for the correction video sister.👍🌷

I feel the pentagrams in the right example are still not equal in all points. The two points towards the center of the shape seem to have a wider angle in between the legs compared to the other points.

yes, you're spot on. So the thing is, with rosettes, they will never be regular pentagrams except when constricting a 10fold rosette..So for all others we are trying to get the most balanced, optimally proportioned pentagrams... this is one of the two constructions that lead to the nest best solution for an eightfold rosette

Hello ma'am, I have tried to make the rosette with 5 and 5.5 cm radius. But each time, the outcome is of approximate measure and not the exact. Please guide me where I am making mistake. It is the radius of the circle?

it takes practice, good sharp tools, eyesight and light too, also draw bigger maybe, but do keep practising and you'll get there!
