For those who have the AAM (Torsion Worm Gear Design Anti-Slip Gear Set) avoid gear oil with the limited slip Additive added to it - the Torsion Design Gear Set does Not Require the additive & will effect the performance of the unit in certain situations when you need it the most. The Traction Control will play havoc on the unit as well - turn the TC off when you really need 4WD.
Do you know how I can visually tell if I have the Torsion Worm Gear Design Anti-Slip Gear Set or not? Is there any other form of limited slip diff in the '17s?

Yes you can, only draw back is you can’t examine for metal shavings but that shouldn’t normally be an issue. I plan on doing my front diff with a pump since the steering linkage makes it a pain to remove the cover.
I couldnt find amsoil anywhere so i used lucas gear oil 75 90w when i puty banks rear diff cover on . I took factory bolts some gorilla had tightened in but at 8800 miles was surprised a little on wear or break in in oil it needed changing
@@oldsalt8011 you use, make a gasket silicone, ive never had to use a factory gasket, just use the silicone to make a new one. Done it for the last 20 years never had any leaks.

Last time I did this, I thought it would be easier to just suck the oil out with a fluid extractor. Or just the Banks performance diff cover for the ease of future changes.
I will do a front diff change and use a extractor. The steering linkage runs in front of the diff cover. Looks like a pain in the rear to take the cover off.

new gasket is a must.
The factory gasket is reuseable.

@@Dog.soldier1950 why not? I think that one that has been in compression for sometime will not seal as well as a fresh one.

Using a torque wrench to break torque on a bolt or a long handled rachet wrench? Never use a torque wrench to break torque.
I think I used the 3/8 impact. Bolts backed out pretty easy. I agree with you, probably easier to break a bolt that way.

From my understanding reading Aimsoils data, no. Its ready to use and dont need to add anything to it.
