  • Hello friends, in this video I am replacing my front wheel bearings on my 2017 Ram 3500 4x4 Dually. Replacing them with SKF wheel bearing. I have 203,000 miles on them and replacing them before they go bad while I am OTR. Please refer to torque specs on your vehicle and use factory service information and recommended procedures. Good video. Preventative maintenance, what a concept. There would be less breakdowns and accidents if more people thought this way.

      Thank you! That is the easiest way to prevent some unwanted downtime and unneeded stress when your an over the road driver or your daily driver. Also prevents other damages to your vehicle and like you said, breakdowns and accidents. Have a Blessed Day Friend! Justin

    Hey Justin, thank you for posting this. I will be doing this to my 2017 srw 3500 tomorrow and feel a little more at ease after watching you.
    Fourty five years ago I watched my Dad and uncle change the rear axle of my Dads 61 f350, tomorrow my 7yo son will be helping me and my Dad will be stopping by, kind of like a big circle.
    Be safe brother and thank you.

    Great job on the video. Straight to the point. I’m only at 100k on my 16 dually, but I’m all about prevention so it’s good to have the knowledge you passed on when the time comes. Thanks!!

    Very thorough Justin. That anti-seize goes a long way. I'm still using the container that I bought in the 80s. You could paint your house and still have enough to do your neighbors 😂.

    Wow, I have a 2016 with over 433,000 miles and haven't replaced my stock yet. They are still pretty good, I'm probably gonna go ahead and replace them soon. Just got an alignment recently and they're still holding pretty good.

      Yeah mine was still good but had a little play in them. I just went ahead and replaced them under preventive maintenance. UPPER BALLJOINTS HAVE A LITTLE WEAR SO THAT WILL BE IN THE FUTURE. Have a Blessed Day Friend! Justin

    It appears you've done this before job well done 😁I personally do not like others working or messing with my stuff been doing my own mechanical work for over 50 yr's so far, the only thing I would have done extra would be to change the universal joints while you have everything apart. fixing to do about the same thing on my 2007.5 3500 4X4 again after about 6 yr's previously change both bearings turn rotors replace pads and universal joints.

    Something that I did, that may help someone....
    I couldn't get my rotor off for the life of me--spray, beat, spray, beat spray, beat...wasn't moving. I just took the four bolts out from the back of the hub and removed it with the rotor attached, then separated them; it was a lot easier than doing it on the truck.

    Forgive my ignorance but I missed seeing where the bearing is. Is it a bearing or, in this case, does the term bearing refer to a part that isn’t a typical circular type bearing part? Thanks.

    • @homegrowncountryhomeplace
      @homegrowncountryhomeplace  Місяць тому +1

      Good question. So this would be a Hub Bearing Assembly. It is a bolt on bearing assembly which includes a new speed sensor. Have a Blessed Day Friend! Justin

    I did my front bearings, rotors, and brake pads. Everything went and feels great but my cruise control doesn't work. Any ideas? The wheel sensors were pretty difficult to plug back in. No dash lights or any other problems, just no cc. Thanks for the video!

    • @homegrowncountryhomeplace
      @homegrowncountryhomeplace  Рік тому +1

      Not sure? if you had a scan tool to check to see if you had signal from both front wheels. But if no ABS light on, then it should be working. If cruise was working before, maybe just double check your connectors again. Did your bearings come with new sensors?

    • @kennethbarnette6086
      @kennethbarnette6086 Рік тому

      Yes both brand new hubs and sensors. Sadly no scan tool at the moment. I dod some more research last night and there is a brake pedal position switch in the cab below the brake pedal. I noticed my brake lights on yesterday. Im going to be investigating that this am. If that's the solution Ill share an update incase someone else experiences this.

    • @kennethbarnette6086
      @kennethbarnette6086 Рік тому

      I hope this helps someone else! I checked the brake position switch in the cab beneath the pedal, everything looked fine, still no cruise control. I remembered seeing someone say to tap the horn on a forum and thought it was a b.s., smart a$$ answer but I tapped the horn once, hit the cc on/off button and bam cruise ready appeared on the screen! Thank you Lord!

      @@kennethbarnette6086 Thanks for the ifo. Sounds crazy but now days who knows. I will remember this. Definitely a sticking brake switch would cause this. Glad you got it going and if somehow it stops working again, let me know what you do to get it fixed. Have a Blessed Day Friend.. Justin

    Did you have noise or an occasional wobble around 75+ that made you single out the hub? I have no noise but have that play. How did you verify the play in the hub?

    • @homegrowncountryhomeplace
      @homegrowncountryhomeplace  Рік тому

      I had no noise but Every oil change I check the front end. So I jack the axle up and check for looseness by grabbing tire at 12:00 and 6:00 position and pull and push on the tire to determine if the wheel bearings have any play in them. Hope this helps. Have a Blessed Day Friend! Justin

      I also had an axle seal leaking, so I replaced the rear pads, parking brake shoes and LR&RR seals and inner and outer bearings. I wanted to do a video on all of that but I was pushed for time. Have a Blessed Day Friend. Justin
