You just pulled it apart and put them together again? I’m assuming there was just a vacuum leak in that case? Or did you go ahead and spray the MAF with some MAF sensor cleaner/isopropyl alcohol spray? Also did the code re-appear? Can it only be cleared with MB star diagnostic tool?

Theres a rubber seal inside that was very flexable. Plus diesels have no vacuum until the egr plate closes. Both sensors were shorted on both used parts. First one did not read temperature. The other did not read airflow. But 2 used assemblies i just used the two good ones. But i did warm them back up to pop them back in. Used a pick and pocket screwdriver to gently move the plastic collar. I did use mass airflow cleaner to get soot off the sensor

Thanks. I’m faced with similar dilemma. Have a generic OBD2 giving 2 p1101 so makes sense could be for both sensors. Doubt they’ve been cleaned too. Would you say it’s possible to get in there from on of the little holes on the ends of this y-pipe/bat wing with the long tip nozzle on the can without having to remove them as you do with the heat gun? I’m up in Canada right now we were at -30 degrees last night. I fear if either I or someone else tries to reheat the plastic pipe like that would be so brittle and crack into pieces. Was hoping just to be able to spray them in from either end of the pipe where there’s a bunch of holes. Thanks again!

@@tjtj1566 you can try a long flexable plastic tube to try spray it. I only had a generic code with my snap on scan tool but i was lucky to have data stream. I did in summer but yes it was minus 30 at my place too this week. Problem is used there like 300 bucks and no garentee. New there were like 1200 plus for the pipe and both sensors

After a forum check a guy was saying after install of new Mass airflow if your wiring is ok. Try reset the lambda sensor or relearn. Kinda a fuel trim reset. Then delete code. Ive never worked on a 220 , to be honest . But most is trial and error and asking questions and reseach on forums

Hi, it's a long shot but, can you post another video showing how you popped off the plastic collar?

I don't have a nother one. But what I did was I warmed up plastic with a electric heat gun and just used a pocket screwdriver to gentle work around it with slow pressure. Having a extra set of hands to help works well. Just being patient and gentle prying that thing pops off. To put it back on warm it up and work your way around also some silicone spray helped to pop it back on

Do not understand what you basically did separate the end of the wings with heat gun and attach it again. But how you can fix the MAF sensor. Clearing the code will not fix MAF sensor if it is dirty. I am surprised below comments think it is the fix. But what you did to fix it. You mentioned that the used one also had bad MAF sensor. so question is the original MAF bad and the used one MAF bad so how you fixed it .... Thank you!!

That's what i was thinking... he just took it apart and put it back together again? Or used the sensors from the used replacement... or did he skip mentioning a step he did IE cleaning? Lol

@The.Contractor.416 yes I did clean them. 1 sensor did not read flow the other did not read temperature.. so yes we took them apart and put 2 into 1. We got a used unit. Not returnable and it was faulty

@krubbyscountrylife thanks for your response. Good for you. I'm debating to get the Lubrmolly cleaning solution and try that out myself.
I actually did see that you already responded to my question on another comment. But thanks for the respect in answering it again...
I just ran into the problem. Changed the EGR Valve today and then noticed the code for this...
Can't find a used one on Facebook market place... hopefully i find one somewhere otherwise if cleaning doesn't work...
Don't feel like spending $1200 CAD on MAF unit... at least the labor is easier than the EGR Valve

@@The.Contractor.416 we had got the used one from a wrecker but they said since it high fail item no returns. Ya Benz in Edmonton wanted big bucks for the MAF assembly and being at a small mom and pop shop we took a chance. I only could get generic codes too.. Benz uses technology I don't have access too.. my boss and I took a wild guess and just tried it..

How do you remove the wire housing from the unit. I can’t figure out the little grey clip. Don’t want to break it

    • @krubbyscountrylife

Are u talking about the snap clip?

    • @krubbyscountrylife
      @krubbyscountrylife  5 місяців тому

It's been a while since. I actually only heated the black plastic and used a small screwdriver to remove and reinstall. If you asking about the grey. Wire snap locks. I don't have a answer for ya except see if they will pry or bend enough to snap out. But really I never had to move the wire clips just the part that where the rubber gasket is.
