    So much respect for the way you're handling yourself here clearly outside your comfort zone - this is where true growth comes from - well done for going for this, can't wait for part 4!

    Another good one, that water sure is moving. Wish I could still flip my canoe up on my shoulders like that, and that scene at 14:00 is as good as it gets. Well done.

      The water made it extremely hard for me and my wood canoe. For a wood canoe, she carries very comfortable on my shoulders!Thanks for watching Robin!

    Wow that was tough going. Heavy current and white water scares me also. The worst though is walking close to a big water fall, I don't like that. Maybe polling up the fast water could be an option like people do in Maine. I've done that in clear shallower water but not in such dark high current. Yes, Christina does some great video's.

      Hey Donald! I am definitely going to work on my poling technique and practice that! I think with some of my future ideas it will come in handy more than once! Thanks for watching! 🙏🏼

    Not sure if you have added it to your gear list, but a double blade would surely be a nice addition. You can get them in carbon fibre adjustable length with wooden paddles for a somewhat "traditional" look yet still extremely light. When separated, it will stow away neatly at the stern with one or two bungee straps out of sight until needed when a strong wind comes up, or strong current. And X3 on the shout-out to Christina..she's the real deal

    • @The-Dutch-Explorer
      @The-Dutch-Explorer  9 місяців тому

      Ah you mean the kayak paddle😅 You probably know that some people are all for the double blade and some people only use a canoe paddle in a canoe. I have tried the double blade but I the one and only thing it is good for in my opinion is poling up and down a creek😅 All respect to everyone who uses a kayak paddle in a canoe and likes it but it’s not for me👍
      And yes, Christina does some pretty cool trips out there and that morel pasta was awesome!!👌

    Good job tough going I'm sure. Consider having a role of flagging tape and a handheld GPS for bushwacking. I canoed the Dusey river north of Nakina the river rose 3 feet after we were dropped off and became a raging torrent. We had to bushwack around every set of rapids. Can't wait to see the next episode!

    • @The-Dutch-Explorer
      @The-Dutch-Explorer  2 роки тому

      Hey Mike! Thanks! I do have my GPS in my pocket almost the entire time (except for when I’m in the water ofcourse) I do also bring flagging tape but I find I bever end up using it just cause I don’t want to leave any behind. But I have it just in case! I will lok up the Dusey river some time! That sounds pretty crazy! Thanks for watching!🙏🏼

      You should consider buying a freeze drier (Harvest Right) I freeze dry all my meals for my trips now. It’s like having home cooking every meal they taste like freshly made, not even close to the crap they sell in the stores or dehydrated. If you want any more info let me know. If you leave a barrel or pack for your last trip on the bushwhack just pick up the flagging tape as you go no trace left.

    • @The-Dutch-Explorer
      @The-Dutch-Explorer  2 роки тому

      Hey Mike, I do actually have a simple one and do enjoy the process. It comes down to time for me. The dehydrating process is time consuming and I was too busy so I just bought them all. My fulltime job as a tool and die maker gets in the way of my outdoor career like that!

    • @mikegarrison1218
      @mikegarrison1218 2 роки тому

      I am a millwright so I know what you mean. You can freeze dry in the off months it has a 25 year shelf life. All my meals are in my pantry, I just pick and go no time lost. Don’t work too hard…..

    Have you ever considered canoe poling? There are UA-cam videos of guys pushing their way up some pretty serious rapids. Bill Mason demonstrated it in one of his movies by cutting a pole from the woods when he needed it. I've tried it a little but not in moving water. Seems like someone with decent balance (not me) should be able to pick it up fairly quickly. Anyway, I am really enjoying your videos. Thanks.

    • @The-Dutch-Explorer
      @The-Dutch-Explorer  2 роки тому

      Thank you sir! I have thought about it but those were not the right circumstances for me to learn this😅 I should practice this skill in a empty canoe some time though! It definitely is a very effective technique! Thanks for watching!
