#LamborghiniMiura #StolenCars #Brazil
Nothing better than a story about John hunting down the rarest Lamborghinis
I love Curated TV too. Tons of great information and amazing cars
how bout john take off that pedo shirt
Much rather have Rabbit burp the alphabet than hear John T. Marion ramble on about cars
@@waldemarieofrow653 yet here you are
@@waldemarieofrow653why are you even here then bestie
Pedro being the Brazilian Lemon Squad even though there isn't one yet was awesome!
Where do I sign up?
The fact that Pedro is waiting in Brazil and trying to get a visa and come the correct way, legally, says a lot about his character. Good luck Pedro I hope you can get back asap if that is your desire. He’s a keeper.
Based Brazilian
So sad how unfair it is against the people doing it the right way
@@abigalanderson7494 based European
Hopefully you aren't allowed in the country.
They don't need tourist visas to come to EU, as well as we don't to go there, went 40 days in the winter.
The other Miura has a more complex story. It was sold to a Portuguese lawyer, with business in Angola, which was then a Portuguese colony. During Angola's war of independence, refugees fled to Brazil with their belongings, in small fishing boats. Many arrived with their cars on the deck of the boats - Ferraris, Mercedes, jaguars and this same Miura (the Jaguars should have been sunk in the sea, LOL). These people were received as refugees and their cars were given a special license as “luggage”, to be registered without paying import taxes, and to receive ownership title and license plates. There are pictures of these boats arriving at the ports in São Paulo and Santa Catarina states ( O ESTADA DE SÃO PULO newspaper, for example)
This car has been in São Paulo in at least 2 workshops - Gancia ( Ferrari authorized dealer, mr. Gancia was the heir of Cinzano drink company and a close friend of Enzo himself, he had the same nomination letter as Luigi Chinetti’s) and Manolo´s - a former Gancia chief mechanic and Alfa Romeu specialist ( he managed Gancias Racing team Jolly with the 2,000 GTAM). This car suffered with the local low octane gas rate - Only 78 ROM at the time. This car was well Known by the sports car community in São Paulo and Brasilia.
This lawyer returned to Portugal, and sold the car, which had a personal title linked to him, and with a problem with the fuel system. Nobody ever heard about the Portuguese lawyer again.
Due to the lack of proper import documentation, it changes hand many times, and ended in the hands off a businessman with links with the federal government ( more links than businesses, if you get the idea). The car was sized at least twice by the tax authorities, and returned to him, which also had a feud within his family. So the car ended in a barn just outside Brasilia, in Goias state.
In the end he made a judicial procedure known as “adverse possession”, which you justify that you are in the possession of something - car, home, land, etc- for more than 10 years and request the correct registration. Remeberring also that the importation duty had long expired, so Tax Revenue could not oppose the registration. So, after the legal procedure the car could be registered and exported to Italy, where it was rebuilt ( I hope at Polo Storico Lamborghini)
This is the story of the car.
Very well spoken, i like the way you laid out the entire story.
Do you know what article the fotos are in?
👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻
Do you know what happened with the one that was owned by Juca Chaves (real name Jurandyr Czaczkes Chaves) in Rio, late 60s?
John Temerian always has a great story and he tells them very well. Buying a 'barn find' always seems like fun, until it isn't.
Between car trek and vinwiki this has been a great freaking week. If John ficara is tomorrow’s story teller then I’m convinced Ed knows me and what I’m into and this week was for me. Thanks Ed!
If a youtube video makes such a difference in your life i suggest you make some drastic changes mate.
Massive shoutout to Pedro! I’m from Brazil too, and I watch you guys ever since a few years ago! This story is a great, but sad, and if it wasn’t for Pedro, we wouldn’t have another of the great tales that this channel brings to us!
The guy that most likely gave back the deposit from his own pocket Is the definition of Integrity.
Far too few people like that.
@@shakeydavesr Sadly true.
I always enjoy John's stories.
An additional information is that the very same car was inspected by the local Bonhams representative, an acquaintance of Doug Nye,; let's call him Mr. RZ.
He inspected the car in 2004/05, but concluded that the car was not eligible for sale because it did not have the proper import documentation and transit registration, so the “adverse possession” process was carried out to regularize ownership and allow exportation.
Sounds like a Miura for Ed! Just a little paint and TLC and good to go! 👍😁
Also, it’s not black, so that would move it up on Ed’s list. Right under the story behind it.
What a story!!! Now do the black '71 hemi Cuda convertible!
Edit: hold up, he's rocking a Balenciaga shirt?! Brave man...
Might be trying to tell us something
Super wealthy...elite...fits the stereotype...
@@hdtripp6218 nah I truly believe Jon is a good man. Possibly some of his high tier clients could be into that but seriously doubt he himself condones that kind of sickness and depravity
@@hdtripp6218 hes not a wealthy elite lol, he works
I have some information for you about the 2 Miuras you posted. The green one was imported by the Italian embassy in Rio, and I think it still belongs to the Italian consulate, because the embassy moved to Brasilia. I saw this car in 1998 at two oficians in São Paulo, one to service the engine and the other to repair the air conditioning. I saw that the timing belt tensioner was damaged and an adaptation was made with a VW belt and a GM command belt tensioner. The store that did this was PROSCHARCAR, well known in São Paulo.
Oficians = motorshops
John sure was lucky, he did lost the Miura but the Brazilian did try to fishbait. The dealership did did do a smart move hiring an investigator, ending up coming out on top with the rare Miura.
They got lucky, they did a dumb thing by not sending down their own people and just sent over a million to some randome guy.
I want to share a little story from early 90s. I was living in working in Omaha Nebraska and I saw a Lamborghini Mira at a gas station. It was in the white, and on a trailer I don't remember where the guy was coming from or going, and I asked him what it was. He replied what do you think it is, and I told him a Lamborghini miura. She said he'd been taking this vehicle for some miles had many people guess what it was and I was the first one to guess it correctly. He said it was the first miura imported into the United States and it had been in a fire he was taking it to get restored.
may wanna blur out the logo on his shirt 🤣🤣
Wow -- that was genuinely wild situation. John's takeaway is on-point. Some dangerous investments are not worth it.
Seems like the investigator did not accidentally bump into the seller at the coffee shop.
John’s Shirt aged well for this episode 😂
Beat me to it!!!
Me too guess I’ll delete my comment lmfao
When flexing in a $500 Tshirt goes wrong 😂
John always tells a great story!!! 👌
The car and pieces were perfetc and complete, just separeated but in perfect state, bcs in the middle of a project to change its color 40 years ago, the family had to move urgently and the project was left aside until it was sold
Oof...bad timing with the release of this video and the brand of shirt John's wearing (Balenciaga)🤦♂
Reminds me of those Brazilian Supercars in police custody or what that was. This story was also on vinwiki a while back.
Same. Was reading comments trying to remember why I’ve kinda heard this story before.
As soon as John said he wanted it red all I could hear was John Ficarra going "this can be red".
That middle man 100% paid John out pf his own pocket
Agreed
I always love john’s stories hope there is more really soon Ed pls do more of John’s stories I only like your stories and john’s stories
Missing Miura, lost in garage, dissembled in pieces, and Brazil?!?!? Oh boy!!! This is a formula for success!!! LoL.. I can understand why John is so good at his chosen profession 'Curating' the history of these classics.
I'd burn that Balenciaga shirt if I were you Jon
Yea. I can't understand the thought behind wearing it after the pedo thing..
@@SLOCLMBR I'm sure this was filmed well in advance to the current situation. However this sort of thing has been going on for years at the top of society. They're just getting more ballsy by throwing it in everyone's face.
@@L8-APEX they're just being them, and once they show themselves, you look complicit..
went to do business with Paulo Figueiredo better known as Paulo Loko. I know the owner of these Lamborghini, the photos were taken in my friend's garage.
I could listen to John or Ed read the phone book and I would still be asking what happens on the next page. Great storytellers!
That’s was very entertaining!! Glad you told us that one.. and glad you got your money back!!
"I don't know who you are. I don't know what you want. If you are looking for ransom I can tell you I don't have money, but what I do have are a very particular set of skills. Skills I have acquired over a very long career. Skills that make me a nightmare for people like you...”
Always a good time when the intro comes on and it's Curated time.
The worst part of dealing with Brazil is not only all the official fees that are nearly un-ending, but also the huge number of palms that need to be greased, often far more costly than the official fees.
John is one of my favorite storytellers
Love Curated!
Best story from vinwiki!
cool story and this guy presents very well
The Miura and the Dino are 2 of the sexiest cars!
The Balenciaga sweater.... come on VINwiki, you know better. It's easy to blur the logo, or to crop out of the frame...
Texas in the Midwest? What does this mean?
One of the BEST storytellers!
This is why ..whenever u want buy a car from anywhere ..you better be Physically present in the negotiation
Always love me a good Lambo story
REAL STORY HERE: At first, the car was sold and we took a small deposit tô garantee the deal, unfortunately there was a fight int he family for the posession and the deal was canceled, we tried mano times tô give the money back, but Ed and nobody would give us the account money. But we could through this lawyer send the money and properly cancel the deal. After many months the fight in the family was concluded and we could sell tje car again as the new proposal we received was way above it was closed right away. We would never think Ed would be willing to pay more then dobble. The conclusion I think all this problem was that the Light (God) intervened bcs we were not selling at the right price, people were taking advantage over us for such a low price we only discovered months later
Excellent story
Ah and there is no jungle and snakes kkkkkkkk, the car was secretly safe in a property of the family for storage.
Pedro should of got a shop to take the car too
Got all the bits and paperwork etc all confirmed
Then hand over the money and take everything there and then with the guys to take everything pronto
That’s how a deal goes down and a shister doesn’t get the opportunity to wait a sec there’s a better offer
Geez. Crazy money floating all over the place. Yep, Brazil is now off my list for sure (although it was never ON my list anyway). Loved the story though.
You knew how this story was going to unfold as soon as John started telling it.
Didn't John tell this story already on his own channel Curated?!🤔😄😄
That car is the sexiest classic italian car. I never cared for the Ferraris of the timeframe. Jamiroquai did a Miura video on here many years ago
*Brazilian Portuguese speaking.
They don't speak true Portuguese in Brazil, that's why there are different dictionaries for each...
As always a great story well told !!!!
This story and the ad following it make me wonder if the Lemon Squad goes to Brazil?
Amazing story and story teller. Massive entertainment value.
You say a destroyed Lamborghini, I say 'Tavarish's next unfinished project'
Adrenaline pumping story John
Interesting story, but the guy might want to burn that Balenciaga sweatshirt - publicly!
Possession is 9/10 of the Law, I would have gone down there with a Certified Cashiers Cheque and said look, if we can get the car onto the Port Authority Property first thing in the morning - this Cheque is yours. We'll sort out the paperwork later, but not a Penny more until..
Yeah for that amount of moeny I don't understand how you just trust that they will do what they said they will. Send down a team and get a truck and take possesion of the car when you pay not before.
9/10 of the law in what country?
Best story teller relating to lambos
As someone who is Brazilian, this sounds very legit. Brazil is sadly very corrupt.
Bro just said Texas in the mid west😂😂
love john’s stories
Big difference to me between matching #'s car, and matching VIN plates
this can be red
Nice work John 👏 👌
No more Balenciaga gear John. I love ya, man, but you gotta cut ties with that shit.
At .29 was the Mura pictured once owned by Laurence/Larry Chapman .Honolulu Hi.?
John is the reason I take 13:06 bathroom breaks
Couldn't quit focusing on the Balenciaga shirt in anger.
I hate this dude but he's got some cool stories
@@matthewsoules7064 Why let him live rent free in your head? He's just some guy living his own life on his own terms.
He may have not seen the advertising
There should be a movie about this. Maybe, the kid has always done this or the reason for doing it could be a story in its self.
They asked you to find out how they can sell it.
brazil has a law which you have to pay registration every year. 40 years of registration fees they can tow it and auction in 90 days after that. To transfer it you have to pay the fees and pray the chassi number was inserted into the digital system, which in the 80s was paper. After transferring you have to declare the car salvage and surrender its license plates which is unique to each car since first titled. After that you will have to pay federal exportation tax and prep the vehicle in order to ship.
Does Lemonsquad inspect old disassembled Lamborghinis that are in Brazil?
John might want to go take that shirt and burn it or not ear it outside again. Cool story, though.
RIP to the snake that accidently got off his ride in Europe lol. Poor dude.
That poor snake hadda travel that far only to DIE! I feel like that snake sometimes
Pretty amazing cars to be worth so much while in pieces.
Best car stories on the web
I've heard this story before. Maybe from the competing car group in Texas?
Hearing this story for the second time hehe 💖
Does the lemon squad work in Brazil🤷♂️
My cousins Rocko and Moose from NY, are experts at getting stuff from people...
Al Czervik, is that you?!?!
If you don't have an representative, preferably a local it can be very sketchy doing that type of business.
Pedro has my vote
It's probably that one in the Hot Wheels display...
I suspect having someone in Brazil, that could follow up regularly, made a difference in regards to getting the deposit back.
The back deposit was offered many times bcs of familys owners fight for the cars posession, and Ed didnt want tô receive back saying whenever u fix the fight I'll buy it, but a laywer could make the deposit get through. The family fight couls finish in a few months or years. Só the cars owner didnt want tô keep it
@@eduardosan9839 That is assuming the "family fight" was a legitimate excuse. I was assuming, if the former owner tried to sell to other people and had someone steal the car from the dock, the excuses were probably lies. It's all third and fourth hand stories though, so who knows what part is true and what is not.
@@eduardosan9839 That excuse was clearly bs, it was because he sold the car to the other dealership group.
Sat in a coffee shop next to the owner/thief by coincidence
Uhhh I’ve got my cream Mac on…. Just one more thing !!!!
“Texas in the mid west” 🧐
Burn that shirt John!
Haha, in the jungle! He speaks like Brazil is a poor country. Brazil has one of the best selling Lamborghini dealars in the world. They have many rare cars like old Bugattis, pre-production Ferrari F40, F50, many many McLarens, the highest amount of vintage Porsches 911 RS and Audi S2. There is even a fuc* Tucker!
the saddest story in the world is the cars dying in the jungle😢
Cool story, too bad this uploaded right after the Balenciaga scandal. Can’t wear that shirt anymore 😬
I imported 4 cars from Brazil to finish the transaction i had to put the money into a escrow account when i received the containers and the cars in Europe the funds were released
Nice to see who cool you are. Dont lose yor big balls
@1:15 in the video that green Miura has white walls🤮
Simple way to get any Lambo checked if unsure. Get Iain Tyrrell to look at it. I doubt any one knows more about classic Lambos than him.
In Brazil, we have a saying, "The Brazilian way." Corruption, scams and gold diggers will follow the money like a dog follows a bitch in heat.
Always a good story
