Lonesome Troll I’m sure you’ve listened to their first album, Turn On The Bright Lights, but I completely agree. If you haven’t, have yourself a listen. It’d a true masterpiece!
I met the girl of my dreams and drove her away moving too fast. 4 years later, I learned my lesson and was determined not to do it again. I almost went insane, but I kept it cool and married her eventually. 14 years together now. This song is extremely close to home for me. I lived it!
The outro of the song is just amazing. The drums convey the rage he talks about by getting more intense in the end but his voice gets softer, gloomier, pessimistic, like he's giving up. He knows there's nothing else in this relationship. The rage is frustration.

"The rage is frustration." No. The rage is not his. He's being beaten by his lover. She tells him what he can't do, what he shouldn't do. He's only half in love, because all of the rage is hidden, back home. Listen again. The beatings.
This song makes me emotions I have never felt before. That's what I like about Interpol, everything I listen to them I get this feeling that make me sad but in a happy ways, it's hard to explain

It’s funny I been listening to this band since the early 2000s and didn’t listen to this album until 2018 when o was making a trip up to normal to visit my pops. Listening to this album driving along PCH and the coast was absolutely incredible. Just seeing the water crash and feeling the breeze and the smell of sand is always nice to me. Saying this and now seeing the music video for the first time we’re the include the California coast line is awesome that’s what I saw when I first listened to this song and this record
This song was played a lot at the beginning of my failed relationship… now half a year after it ended it’s weird listening to it with new meaning. Beautiful music… I love Interpol
The album came out after a 4 year long relationship’s end. This track definitely hit hard. Then I checked out more of their stuff. No I In Threesome, Obstacle 1 and C’mere really hit hard. lol
Every day with her was a blessing, even the hard days when we fought and cried. I was lucky enough to be loved by somebody for 10 years. A decade. Now she doesn't love me anymore. She moved on and moved away. Not even a goodbye. After 10 years of swearing we'd never be apart. She was my love, and my best friend. And I doubt I'll ever see her again.
I know this sounds harsh but there will always be another. Love can hurt sometimes, god I know it. But there is no such thing as the "one" people come in and out of our lives all the time some people being more important to us than others. But those people never truly leave the affect the make on us still stay most of the time either being a small affect or a big one. Sometimes for the better others for the worst. But as long as we honor what the left with us and learn from our time with those people then our time with those people would've been worth it. Whether it's a lover or a friend we grow, learn, love, laugh, argue, cry together and we change each others lives. You'll find someone who you loved like that again theres never just one person for everyone. Someday you'll find someone wholl change your life and you'd both be luck to have that connection with each other. You'll find love like that again so keep your head up king, your crown is falling ❤

Interpol is one of the only bands where every album has NOT ONE bad song. I don’t skip a single song. Seeing them live was incredible. They are by far the best band of the 21st century.
Do you know why I love Interpol? For a long time I have seen their music as that unconditional friend that is there for you in good times and bad, they have been there the first time I fell in love, when I was heartbroken, when I lost someone important, when I felt I couldn't give anymore, but also when I felt I could eat the world with bites. They have practically been the soundtrack of my life, a lot of music has come into my life but none has reached the love that I have for them, congratulations! This song is so cool.
I live in Corpus Christi, Tx and haven't met one person that enjoys Interpol the way i do. Feels good to see so many positive comments on these guys. I've enjoyed listening to their music over and over again throughout the years. Interpol fan for life
My feeling is that it is about the feeling of saying something wrong to someone you love and not finding the right words and hurting that person and when you come home the anger and sadness hits you
Interpol is the fucking shit. Poetry . Within music that is beauty that hides in darkness, light in , minor shining in major. Simplicity meshed in complexity . Poetry. Love entire band, thanks Paul. Poetry.
It's good news that the band is still making good music. I was around in Obstacle 1 days, and I can still appreciate their music. I can't say the same about a lot of bands as they tend to lose their ways after awhile, losing the originality they once lured you in with and bow under pressures of the mainstream current.
Also happened with Arctic Monkeys, Daft Punk... The Strokes... so true, their style is different from their begginings, and that does not necessary means that is another facet of them, people change
Interpol are band who I respect and think are worthy enough now, as they ever have been. For those discovering them for the first time, you have many a gem to behold..enjoy.....
A life's dream was to someday see this band live. That dream was fulfilled by a woman that has almost as much meaning as the group. Oh what a lady. How can you ever repay a dream brought to life?
My friend bought me concert tickets for this group. On this period i wasn't a real fan of Interpol, the concert was three weeks after. In three weeks, Interpol became one of my favourite band, and by listening this music, I feel like I can do everything which is possible and impossible. This band is awesome.
I grew up listening to interpol as a kid because of my dad and to this day it’s one of my favorite bands . It’s got a dark but up beat mood too it and that’s maybe why I still listen to them to this day. (I’m 25)
Outstanding music. That feeling you get when you hear a great song for the first time and can't wait to listen to it again. Like a kid who's discovered a new food for the first time..
The reason Interpol are so artistic is they never question themselves what the audience wants. It's just something pop artists do. Paul himself stated this and that is why their creativity doesn't die down.
I was introduced to this band at the MOST perfect time in my life, right when I broke up with my first girlfriend...their music, this song in particular, was on repeat constantly. They have a VERY special place in my heart...hope to see them live one day
This song is a masterpiece! and let me tell you why - It's all about how a man struggles in a relationship with another person within the constraints of the chaotic and violent nature of the world he lives in, a theme which is very well reflected metaphorically in the video itself, and in the way the song is musically built - the more the tension gets higher, and the guitar player reaches the higher notes on the scale, the bigger and more violent the waves become. The song 'ends' in a triumph as one of the surfers achieves his final goal, but it doesn't really end, since waves will forever continue their way to the shore. Simply phenomenal. Best song and video of the year by a square mile.
Dylan Carras what is great about music is the same as what is great about art. It can mean so many things to so many people. Hell, it sometimes means different things to me. I feel the music. I don't take it ultra literally.
unfortunately; altho a great set of lyrics almost always helps to make a song become more than a real cool song.........the music sounds pretty cool ....even good.......just in my opinion not in their top ten songs as it pertains to how striking the music is........and we all hear the same music.....if yur a fan....what makes yu a fan is their music style and or their lyrics,,,,,,most bands are challenged t do 1 or the other well.....to do both well on a consistent level=well that's what makes a fan a fan....1 hit wonders are a [lenty=and I will take that 1 song.......its hard for even the best bands to come up with good,,,,great stuff.......I mean ...look at he stones......nothing new worth anything in over 30 yrs....don't stop hem from rippin off their fsns w/ multi live...greatest hits....anthol...whatever///I hope that doesn't happen here.....u2 is showing signs of it.........its a good song.....not geat
I remember the first time he showed me this song, 4th of July at his house in his backyard, we were swimming. That was the first time I realized he was the only person I've dated who truly loved me. I fucking miss him and I hate that he's so far away from me rn
the final part of this video is amazing showing Paul, David and Sam playing their music, forget whatever it happen around them while the music is fading and the black covers everything... just perfect!!!!!
for 15 years this has been my most favorite band of all time and I've listen to a lot of music every 3 to 5 years Interpol comes to my town and I make it every single concert.
And the way they have stuck to their sound without compromising quality and artistic development is remarkable. They have grown without leaving their roots. And they are still so enjoyable.
As someone who didn't much care for their self titled and is a huge fan of TOTBL and Antics....this isn't actually that bad. After the first listen I'd say a solid interpol song with a nice hook.
Same. I always imagine the scene of the breakup when I listen to it, throwing things, running after someone, crying, and painful silence. That's how I imagine a long-time relationship breakup...
after 6,5 years...I cried....and cried...and cried...no food for 3 days, you cry yourself to sleep, you wake up with the most horrible feeling, a sour depressed mixture and you think immediately that it was just a nightmare, but it strikes into you again and again - your brain tells you that's reality...and you cry again.... and I couldn't listen to music for 2 weeks. This was the most painful of it, because we had in 95% the same favourite bands...the only solution is that you have to meet people and talk and go out...even if you hate everyone, and you are jealous af (because on the street you only see happy and lucky couples...) my life stopped being a life because I focused on him, he was the meaning of my life and I'm still trying to find that meaning again for 9 months now... so, guys, be careful with love...
Hey no matter how many times it happens dont give up :) there's more than a million people in the world and one of them is going to be the one... I understand you cause the same thing happen to me.... but I learn that no matter what is always good to stay postive. And I promise you, you will find the one if you stay positive no matter what :) Dont give up remmeber that

The intro is so envolving. I call those parts of songs "interpol moments". Since they are one of the few (probably the only) bands that drive me so much into their songs that I literally lose myself in them. This intro is probably the greatest interpol moment....like ever. It sounds like a prayer, so subtle, so calm. It feels so nostalgic but you can feel joy on it aswell, like a lot. I feel this intro kind of christmasy (coincidently this album came out near december so it was perfect for the time, I listened to this song almost every day back then because of that, it just fitted perfectly and I felt like it), christmas is a lot of nostalgia if you think it through. I dont know how interpol keep blowing my mind with each album they release. I guess Ill never know cause they have a talent that is beyond understanding. I just settle to enjoy their masterpieces. And being grateful for their existence cause like I always say. Their talent is out of this world.
[Verse 1:] When she wept the love come over my head abounds Oh the feeling And she wept, hold me again, I made no sound Oh the beating Then she swore love is never done So easily Then we went over again, my head abounds Oh the feeling [Pre-Chorus:] She said you don't need time Be tame, you won't meet your mate inside My faith won't lie He said you don't need mine Behave, you wanna leave my lady lovers Of my eighteen summers alone She said, you don't read minds Be patient, you won't leave me shakin' Leave me shakin' [Chorus:] I keep falling, maybe half the time, maybe half the time I keep falling, maybe half the time, maybe half the time But it's all the rage back home It's all the rage back home [Verse 2:] When she said, love come over my head abounds Oh, what feeling She said, you oughtta refine Be paid, you're gonna see my face in lights My faith won't lie My sweet, you don't need mine to Come away and just say you'll love me, Say you'll love me alone She said you don't read minds Be patient, you won't see me shakin' You have been mistaken [Chorus] [Outro:] All the rage back home All the rage back home All the rage back... I keep falling, maybe half the time, maybe half the time It's all the rage back home I keep falling, maybe half the time, maybe half the time It's all the rage back home
Grande interpol ❤️
These are the lyrics of the song based on the lyrics booklet that comes along with the CD When she went hey love come over My head abounds oh the feelings And she wept hold me again I made no sound oh the beating And she swore love is never done So easily Then we went over again my head abounds oh the feeling She said you don't need time Be tame you won't meet your mate inside My faith won't lie He said you don't need mine behave You wanna leave my lady lovers Of my eighteen summers alone She said you don't read minds be patient You won't leave me shaking Leave me shaking I keep falling Maybe half the time Maybe half the time 2x It's all the rage back home It's all the rage back home When she said love come over My head abounds oh what feelings She said you oughta refine Be paid you gonna see my face in lights My faith won't lie My sweet you don't need mine Come away and just say you love me Just say you love me alone She said you don't read minds be patient You won't see me shaking You have been mistaken I keep falling maybe half the time Maybe half the time 2x But it's all the rage back home . . . The lyrics in the comment-section seem to be based on hearing, so i went ahead. What he really sings is very beautiful (in my opinion).
Oh man thank you so much. I actually have been trying to figure out what does those lyrics mean. While I see they are kinda abstract they make much more sense now. Thanks again.
Glad to hear that! If you don't mind hearing my interpretation, I can share it with you ^^ The title and chorus is "All the rage back home" and together with the opposing "he said / she said" parts it points towards a couple that is often arguing. The girl gets jealous, as could be seen in the lines: "You wanna leave my lady lovers Of my eighteen summers alone", as it merely means "leave my girlfriends from when i was 18 / young adult alone. The same goes for the man (it is rather difficult to tell, wether it's the man or the woman talking): "My sweet you don't need mine Come away and just say you love me Just say you love me alone". This is followed by the response of the woman: "She said you don't read minds be patient You won't see me shaking You have been mistaken" The subject on what he and she respectively tell each other they have been mistaken on is most likely cheating with another woman / man. An indicator for that might be the chorus "I keep falling maybe half the time Maybe half the time But it's all the rage back home", as the man / the woman give in to temptation, the root of it all being the constant fighting. The bittersweetest part of the song is the beginning. There is shown, that despite all the arguing, there is still something that connects them and they aren't willing to end their relationship yet. "When she went hey love come over My head abounds oh the feelings And she wept hold me again I made no sound oh the beating And she swore love is never done So easily Then we went over again my head abounds oh the feeling" The woman is very sad, wanting to be held by her partner which he does with a loudly beating heart, the only noise besides her weeping. She swears, that there is or was at some point feelings of love between them, and that she isn't willing to give it up yet. Now the "went over again" part could be either arguing some some more (going over something over and over again), make out, or go over to their company.
@@Katzenweitwurf i read somewhere that Paul said the '' i keep falling maybe half the time maybe the time'' is more about falling in love. It's like fall in and out of love with a person constantly. Honestly, I was nervous to listen to Interpol again after Carlos left. In my mind, they didn't feel "complete". God, I was wrong. I hope Carlos is doing well but Interpol is still going on strong
Daniel Johnson he looks dif....sounds as good...which is what matters......obviously the bands that continue to thrive after a prominent member departs for 1 reason or another....have the most talent///it aint luck.......which is 1 of the 2 reasons Genesis still did well after PG left...#2- targeted a dfferent audience
Daniel Johnson PC and the new G....obviously had to know prog and anyone of same taste would not be attracted by the new gen sound....so it would seem purposeful that they went along pop lines....it can be born out by their new staus....re sales and concert halls etc///PG accomplished his goals by hooking up w/ superb players of his mind and achieved critical success....both win

It’s what Interpol does best.
Sadness has never felt so good.
This song was played a lot at the beginning of my failed relationship… now half a year after it ended it’s weird listening to it with new meaning. Beautiful music… I love Interpol

The album came out after a 4 year long relationship’s end. This track definitely hit hard. Then I checked out more of their stuff. No I In Threesome, Obstacle 1 and C’mere really hit hard. lol

it's a masterpiece.

Nop
True. However. the neighbourhood is quite good as well. Even arctic monkeys
Radiohead tho
Smashing Pumpkins were better in concert, Interpol was the second band. Good, but not on SP’s level.
I've seen them live 6 times, always amazing they never call it in
This band has so much personality, they are unique, just 5 seconds and you can tell this is an interpol song

This is so sweet.
I wish there was a punctuation mark for happiness
Banks kinda looks like Steven Gerrard from LFC😂
One of the best bands around. El Pintor was a terrific album. This song breaks my heart and lifts me up all within 4

This song makes me feel a sense of melancholic rage
The bass guitar makes this song so emotional.

Además Paul, Daniel y Sam provienen de familias acomodadas y tienen negocios.
I live in Corpus Christi, Tx and haven't met one person that enjoys Interpol the way i do. Feels good to see so many positive comments on these guys. I've enjoyed listening to their music over and over again throughout the years. Interpol fan for life
It is like a sense of loss, sadness and longing all in one bright whirl.
My feeling is that it is about the feeling of saying something wrong to someone you love and not finding the right words and hurting that person and when you come home the anger and sadness hits you
I love how aggressive this song is. It doesn't let you go until it is ready. Awesome.

It's good news that the band is still making good music. I was around in Obstacle 1 days, and I can still appreciate their music. I can't say the same about a lot of bands as they tend to lose their ways after awhile, losing the originality they once lured you in with and bow under pressures of the mainstream current.
same here love to hear them still perfecting their craft
I feel like you described Coldplay perfectly.
+Jacob Lyons yes, came here from joy division, nicely put

Also happened with Arctic Monkeys, Daft Punk... The Strokes... so true, their style is different from their begginings, and that does not necessary means that is another facet of them, people change
What a legend of a group. So many good memories for me when I hear their songs. Simply the best.
Ready for Interpol in Chile, May 2024!!

I'm discovering them now...
When you hear Interpol live it makes the recordings sound like a midi. You feel me?
Brought me to tears. Never-ending the sophistication... it's the simplicity that killed me.

The reason Interpol are so artistic is they never question themselves what the audience wants. It's just something pop artists do. Paul himself stated this and that is why their creativity doesn't die down.

You completely get it.

This song makes me feel the breakup I never had
This was the most painful of it, because we had in 95% the same favourite bands...the only solution is that you have to meet people and talk and go out...even if you hate everyone, and you are jealous af (because on the street you only see happy and lucky couples...)

But it's all the rage back home

When she said, love come over my head abounds
Oh, what feeling
She said, you oughtta refine
Be paid, you're gonna see my face in lights
My faith won't lie

Grande interpol ❤️

The lyrics in the comment-section seem to be based on hearing, so i went ahead. What he really sings is very beautiful (in my opinion).
Oh man thank you so much. I actually have been trying to figure out what does those lyrics mean. While I see they are kinda abstract they make much more sense now. Thanks again.
Glad to hear that! If you don't mind hearing my interpretation, I can share it with you ^^
The title and chorus is "All the rage back home" and together with the opposing "he said / she said" parts it points towards a couple that is often arguing.
This is followed by the response of the woman: "She said you don't read minds be patient You won't see me shaking You have been mistaken"
The subject on what he and she respectively tell each other they have been mistaken on is most likely cheating with another woman / man.
"When she went hey love come over My head abounds oh the feelings And she wept hold me again I made no sound oh the beating And she swore love is never done So easily Then we went over again my head abounds oh the feeling"
The woman is very sad, wanting to be held by her partner which he does with a loudly beating heart, the only noise besides her weeping. She swears, that there is or was at some point feelings of love between them, and that she isn't willing to give it up yet.
Now the "went over again" part could be either arguing some some more (going over something over and over again), make out, or go over to their company.
Thank you
Paul wrote about his love for surfing.
@@Katzenweitwurf i read somewhere that Paul said the '' i keep falling maybe half the time maybe the time'' is more about falling in love. It's like fall in and out of love with a person constantly. Sometimes you are in situations where some days you are sooo in love but some other days well not so much especially if it is about to end

This kind of style and mystery is missing in today's "pop"...or whatever it is.
Interpol....magnifique.
This is just a masterpiece. A truly masterpiece. How can one song be so good?
