The transition from Try It On to All of the Ways is absolutely beautiful, the meaning and the feelings behind both songs are just incredible. I like The Undoing, I think it fits well in the sequence but it has a different vibe to it altogether.
So fuckin' awesome, at first sight, I didn't like any of these songs, but these songs are built for being like in an unconscious way in your mind, and then they take you back here, finally you can't stop listening this...that fucking legends!

I listened to this cd on a road trip across country when it first came out and by the end of the trip I keep playing these songs over and over. I was thrilled to see someone else needed them to be one song. Because in my heart they are too.

Este álbum es de mis preferidos de interpol y no entiendo porque muchos destrozaron este álbum. Decían que es un disco aburrido y pesado, muy denso. Bueno, es un disco pesado en cierto sentido, la carga emocional lo hace pesado, si no le das oportunidad es un disco que no entenderás. Es mi opinión:), Me parece un gran disco en cuestion de concepto, si, muuuuchos artistas, cantantes, bandas, han explotado el tema del "desamor" en sus trabajos, y cito "desamor" porque creo que para profundizar en este tema, esta palabra se me hace muy superficial, hay tanto para explicar este tipo de emoción. Interpol y Paul Banks en este caso supo llegar desde otro lado hacia este punto común que muchos utilizan hasta el cansancio y que suena superficial y no humano. Abordar este tema desde un tercero (en este caso el narrador de sus canciones) y su sentir mas hostil y cruel te lleva a otro nivel de entendimiento sobre este tema en el que dos personas ven que su relación ya no funciona y una de ellas quiere fingir que todo puede volver a estar igual, sin cambios y la otra esta tan desesperada, le dije que puede dejar las llaves y fingir también aunque saben que ya no tiene remedio, que ya se rompió (try it on); después desde la rabia y arrogancia el no acepta que su pareja ya intenta pasar pagina, esta con otra persona y su propia arrogancia le dice que ella sabe que volverá, menosprecia a la tercera persona que llego, pero al final ella nunca regreso (all of the ways) al final, el esta en su camino para decirle a ella que todo esta bien, y quiere reparar sus daños. (el daño es de los dos peros ella logro pasar pagina y el se aferra a que entonces el tiene que repararlo con el único fin de regresar). El le ruega "please please" . se titulo the undoning porque hasta aquí se puede ver que el a estas alturas no acepta que ha terminado, no se da cuenta no lo ha asumido. en resumen un retrato de el aferrarse de alguien por su gran amor. y así de desolado termina el disco, con esta ultima canción, por eso es un disco PESADO que no cualquiera puede apreciar a la primera escucha. claro todo esto desde mi perspectiva ;)
Es un albúm excelente. Dos años después leo tu descripción y me encanta que las letras de interpol le sigan llegando a la gente a niveles de entendimiento profundas como me pasó la primera vez que escuché TOBL.

I mean they are great album but goddamn this is the best Interpol could ever be. 3 albums later, all their brilliance and genius musical talent encompass in these 3 songs. And it's kinda symbolic this is the final album with Carlos
Try It On is probably the best of the trio... agreed? I mean, the other two are good, especially Undoing, but the "Try it on" chorus at 2:06 is just awesome right? :D

I think everything from Barricades to the end of the album is not only one of Interpol's best run of songs, but one of the best of all time. Cool to see you put these up together and so many others agree how well the songs compliment each other.
Always Malaise and safe without are terrible but every other song on this record is perfect. I have them all download but those two, it’s brilliant. I can’t stop listening to it

Man I can’texplain Paul banks with the solo album sky scraper solid album really good and banks and steel He sings with the rza from wu tang. But Interpol has this next level way of making u feel deeply the way they come together and shine I get it now sometimes u put 3guys together all good on there own merits and nothing special and then others get together and synchronized together with out effort just killing it magic happens can’t explain it
Thank you for making this statement, because I agree with you 100%. It took brass balls for these guys to do this on an album (especially after OLTA was panned)- now they're catching even more flak in reviews, particularly for these 3 songs. It's creepy, honest stuff, and it's great.
nah, self entitleds picture is cool as hell and fits perfectly. the band is broken with carlos departure and suits the time period of what they were going through perfectly
Disclaimer: I am a huge Interpol fan - so saying this is not meant to insult or insinuate that the band is not brilliant. BUT: This is not one song - if it's meant to be, it's poorly executed. A similar underlying synth tone between songs does not make it one song. If you want to know truly brilliant epic songs - go listen to some Pink Floyd records (there is tremendous Pink influence throughout the most recent Interpol record though).
