The trick with solifidy + backface culling is so cool, I never would've thought of that

I haven't tried the Grease Pencil line art modifier, but I don't think one would be better than the other one, they are just different and give a different effect. The line art or the Freestyle outline are more perfect by default, I guess, but you can always twick the values. In the freestyle outline, you can even have more than one style of outline and assign each one in Edit Mode like in this video: ua-cam.com/video/_aTCMWnJKpE/v-deo.html
The Inverted Hull Method I used sometimes can be a bit glitchy and you have to change the geometry a bit so the outlines give the effect you want, like I did in this video in 18:25. I suggest you search "blender outline methods" on UA-cam and you'll find lots of videos on different ways of getting the outline effect. It's all a matter of preference, I guess 😄
