ANTES DEL SHOW

Ray said this was Jim's best performance, and he was on top of his game for it.
That's cool to hear, I grew up in pgh & have been in that building many many times, cool place, had a retractable roof, wonder if they opened it for the show
speaking as genZ, any performance of Jim that has him screaming/singing is music to my ears
"You don't make music for immortality,
You make music for the moment, for capturing the sheer joy of being alive on planet Earth." -Ray Manzerek...
untill the music is over ;)
I agree that this is probably the best recording of The Doors ever. Jim was absolutely at his best all night long. I should know.......I WAS THERE!!!!!!!!
So was I! Morrison had a belly on him! He came out smoking a cigar and holding a 6 pack of Iron City Beer!
Me too. In the middle... floor
I was not there, but I do think it's fucking amazing that 4 people were there 50 years ago and are here now. Congrats dudes, you all rock!
One of the best.. besides The Aquarius Theatre.. He wasn't quite as vocally graphic at this concert, I think strictly Because of the location.. Pennsylvania.. close to the seat of the Forefathers...or something.. not sure.. he was def good on this performance, but not like his standard(s).. even in Philly he was much more (savage) and up for the task.. Pittsburg was apparently an un(known) territory for him, which is Evident in His Performance/ and total lyrics.. Just listen to his less inhibited performance's from other place's around the world, and you'll hear what I mean.Pitts-burg..come on all right!
How was it any special memories?!?
The singer in my band was at this concert! She was like 17 yrs old at the time. Man wish I woulda been there too!
A Doors concert borders between of chaos and genius.
This is regarded as one of the best surviving Doors live performances. Jim is sober and extremely energetic. Great sound. I wish the the concert had been longer!
Me too
God bless you and your family 🙏❤️💙

Que loco oohh sssii!!!!
I have heard many versions of Light My Fire live- Isle of Wight, Detroit, Hollywood Bowl, Vancouver, and many more, but this version is fast, intense, and furious. Robby Krieger is at his finest here, in Pittsburgh. Most impressive. Wow.
Just check this version: ua-cam.com/video/Zu-DT3Ietcs/v-deo.html&ab_channel=DrLecter
I've never seen Jim so focused as he was at the Isle of White. Ray was right, his spirit was gone and he knew it so he sang his ass off. That's the most intense doors show in my eyes. Sad really and I truly believe he would of at least made it back from Paris if not for those six months they gave him
OOOOOOOHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!!
Great concert One of there best 👍
@wendy pearson inside cd they say Jim was clean and sober that night
Super extra crazy version of WHEN THE MUSIC"S OVER! Complete with animal sounds and a Morrison feed back solo.
Very great !!!!
The BEST AMERICAN ROCK~N~ROLL Band ever!!
JIMI MORRISON IS THE MASTER POET & BADASS SINGER, SCREAMER/SCREECHER 🦎👑
Thank you!
I was there! Jim was sooo f’d up Great band Great floor seats.
oddly enough everyone else is saying it's so great because Jimbo was sober. hm.
Jim is right... Music is your only friend until the end. ✌✌✌✌
Definitely this concert Top 5 live recordings. Truly a gem of gems
by the wonders of youtube an old Doors fan like me can discover so much new stuff. thanks! nowadays it's possible to hear whole concerts, which in the 90's would have been privy to only insiders...
This is an amazing show! 🎉 Time travelers are there 😁
It would be The first thing I'd do with one I can tell you that. 😎
Never enough Doors, especially great Doors. Great gift. Thank you.
Great concert they rocked the PA
Probably the best live recording available of The Doors
I was born on this month and day nine years after this concert. Long live the Doors ✌❤💯
Yes long may they run
God bless you and your family 🙏❤️💙😇
Michael
This is fucking amazing, I tell you this ‼️
Good god this recording is a work of glory 😊
Jim was on that night. Had energy and was amazing...
IMO this is the Doors' best released concert. Powerful!! Lucky Pittsburgh!
Here are a few standouts: Jim repeating the "Gotta beep a gunk a chucha" part in 'Roadhouse Blues', the great version of 'Away in India', Ray's powerful organ bass on 'When the Music's Over', Robby's awesome solo on 'Light My Fire'.

" *Jim Morrison hasta el ultimo aliento en concierto dio todo lo mejor de si , y como siempre lo hizo* .

*JIM MORRISON ES UNIVERSAL , por eso no ha muerto , el sigue en mi memoria y presente en mi vida , Jim formo parte de mi vida desde pequeño cuando escucucharon mis oidos los primeros gritos furiosos del Rey Lagart*.
*Larga vida a The Doors y JIM MORRISON*.
The world feels empty without JIM MORRISON 🦎👑

Hypnotic!
My memory is that the police told Jim to tell the crowd, which was surging forward, to move back away from the stage. He was saying “You all have to move back, move back”, but he was waving his hands in a move forward motion, and things got really crazy for a while.

Amen! Jesus TY. This show was three day's be for I was one!
The best... Jim.... Best... the doors...
Me and my girlfriend seen him live in Long Beach California 1970 February
Fantastic concert! I think this is the best (so far) of live concerts from the doors. Pamela was such a pretty young lady....very sad ending. Jesus thanks for posting.
Me acabo de encontrar esta joya en un supermercado entre polvo y Cachureos ... Cd original a estas alturas difícil .... Me lo compre altiro jajaja arriba The Doors
The SOUND. WOWWWW
I know, right. Sooo good and they were smoking. Jimbo in fine voice.
One of the best concerts ever seen
Yes Jim definitely sounds coherence definitely not drunk and having a really good night he's definitely on spot and may I add being from the Greater Pittsburgh area and very familiar with the Civic Arena which had pretty good acoustics also it was able to retract and open up to the view of downtown Pittsburgh awesome place but no longer exist !!!
keith vitovich hey I’m in Pittsburgh too! that’s mainly why I wanted to check this performance out
Thats my city, and i was 4 years unborn when that music soaked in the atmosphere .
Arte para mis sentidos 👍
Gracias, buenisimo el gig
The video of the show still plays in my head.
Curious that not much mention of the fact that at least 50% of the show had lights on, and a phaynx of Pittsburgh's finest, maybe 25 to 30 lined the front of the stage. Jim egged them on, and really insited a near riot. It is right before Get Closer to you. It was one of the wildest shows I ever saw. Thank you Lord for the video and blessings of memory. WILD
Soundin great. You lucky Pittsburghers.
wish I was there
BLEW ME AWAY!!!

More info translation: BEFORE THE SHOW
Backstage it was unusually quiet that night in Pittsburgh. In one corner was Robby, sitting with his new girlfriend Lynn (later to become Mrs. Krieger), fingering his unplugged Gibson SG guitar and warming up to a song called Sweet Substitute. In another part of the green room, John was pacing, drumsticks in hand, running through the playlist in his head. More of
At the door, Ray huddled with Paul Rothchild, the band's producer, and they chatted with the local promoter for Elektra Records. In the middle of the room, Jim sat at the piano, playing to himself and deep in thought. Bill Siddons, manager of The Doors, came over and said, "Five minutes and you're done!" I ran back to the Fedco Audio truck, put the tape machines on "record," and the guys headed upstage.
SHOW TIME
There are some absolutely fabulous moments in this show, as the stage was always a place of experimentation for The Doors. Check out the 22+ minute When The Music's Over, where Jim takes the others to snippets of songs they've never played live, and in the process, brings in snippets from other songs to extend and enhance the musical dialogue. Of more interest is Close To You, sung by Ray with backing from Jim. RAy always sang this song in concert, and he also sang it in 1968 at my wedding, kind of
"message to the newlyweds".
AFTER THE SHOW
They say an army moves on its stomach, and along the way, The Gates were no different. Every city had a place you had to go to after the show, sometimes even before the show. In Pittsburgh, one place in particular, Primanti Bros., in the Strip district, was a must-eat. Noted for its incredible sandwiches stuffed with your choice of meat, cheese, coleslaw, fries, sauces, and sliced tomatoes sandwiched between two thick slices of Italian bread. Those were the days when cholesterol was just a word, and
Primanti Bros. went where we headed after the concert to fill up.
🌻 Super nice concert 🍇🌛☔️🌳
The Doors, eu amo, o melhor dos melhores! Eternos😎🎸🎷🎼🎶
This concert was held 2 days before the Kent State University shootings (Monday May 4, 1970) Pittsburgh is 102 miles away from Kent St.

Funny how he lightly references Miami while introducing Ray. And one of the best live versions of when the music’s over I have ever heard. I missed this show. But I guess I have a good excuse. I was 3.
Greetings from Mingo. Play that funky music!
❤
Jim had actually lost weight before he died. I don't like it when people say he got fat and died. That's what happened to Elvis. Jim was never fat like Elvis. I've always wondered how Jim lost weight. Maybe walking around Paris and possibly not drinking as much?
Yeah, and he lost it quickly, too.
His face was really full and round but his body was slim.
heroin will do that to a body, unfortunately.
VIVA THE DOORS! VIVA JIMMM EL MASSS GRANDE LEJOSSSSSSS!! SLDOS DESDE BS AS ARGENTINA!!!!!!!!!!!! ROCK N' ROLL ;)
SENSACIONAL!!!
Away in India. Jim's first love Mary went away to India.. I just learned this, never knew the meaning
Superb❤️🌈✨🎸
No one’s ever mentioned the sad truth of the Doors record la woman. Arguably the best doors record released. I’m truly sad to have never heard ryders on the storm or la woman just to name a few, songs the doors never played live to an audience. I think it worth mentioning since no one’s ever mentioned that and to never hear those songs played live was a true loss. Nevertheless their music lives on eternally.
They played those songs, and most of the others from L. A. Woman in Dallas, December 11, 1970.
@@johnstorton god bless you for your comment. I couldn’t see how they could be performing the record they just finished due to Jim and Pam’s quickly exiting to Paris upon its release. But I imagine you’re right due to the fact by then they were free from Electra and could do whatever the hell they wanted. Your message gives me a sense of joy. Are there any live recordings of ryders or La woman on UA-cam?
Thanks again
Blessings

I luv that fckn intro on this backdoor man,
I think this is more bluesy and hipnotic....
The other medley with that Man gone insane
yell at the start of backdoor man, has more of a Rock n' roll feel...
TheDoors forever.....✌🏼💀🌹
They could sing, i think, all night long, so powerfull!!!
“Cancel my subscription to the resurrection…” getting new book 📕 manana psyched the Doors STILL RULE!

Robbie’s solo on backdoor man👌
SAAAAPEEEE
Jimbo looks fit and healthy on his final pictures
Yeah.. that's the saddest part.. Looked and sounded like he was getting back to normal again, but we know how that went
Is it THAT EASY to OD on heroin????? Why couldn’t he be more careful!!!!!
@@vickiladu6755 yes, it is.
Most soulful band of white guys ever
I always thought that The Doors' performances in Europe are the best ones, but this performance is as good as those concerts. Was Jimbo unable to find alcoholic beverages in Europe? I don't think so... But this performance shows again what The Doors is capable of doing when Jim is sober... I wish he didn't push those limits that much, so that we all could have benefitted more from his genius... RIP Jimbo...
I think the performance in Europe was more theatrical and explicit.
This one to me sounds more Emotionally.
Jim was very profound and subreal.
Honestly Jim made some great music when he was wasn't fucked up, etc.
