Yea it's true, the inspiration is definitely closer to the city of the original 2008 Mirror's Edge because it's less sci-fi/futuristic haha. But beautiful :)
Yep the visual style of the original game was essentially Tokyo with a few wild buildings thrown in. Lots and lots of white concrete buildings everywhere. Glass in MEC is much more evolved. The Anchor and View districts look like a city from 2100...
a beautifully lit city and atmosphere for sure!! But somehow I fail to see the mobility with all these tall buildings and no zip wires or red cranes/crashing mats XD
Have you noticed something else too. I've found a great real life Mirror's Edge 'easter egg' two years before the first game released. It's called 'Jump' by Madonna. The vibe of this song theme and the game are scandalously similar. I love it. Check the song out and see for yourself. The way the singer looks like in the video released two years before the game hit the screen is similar to Faith too! I was stunned!
Just rewatching this again... I've spotted some interesting flying lights on the top right of the screen starting at 1:23. Are those planes or stars or Alien UFOs?

The night cityscape at 1:23 reminds me OG mirror's edge ending scene. it would be perfect the shard standing on there.

Holy shit, you might be right. Maybe Dice considered using Jump instead of Still Alive in the beginning

you talking about ufos ? bruh
flies maybe. moths ? who knows
They're planes descending towards an airport runway.
This reminds me of the Anime Movie Your Name.
Cool
where is this?
Tokyo city.
Did you film this yourself? Also what city is this?
Nope, it's from official DICE developer (lighting artist). Footage took place in Tokyo, Japan.
