Your videos are always so well presented & informative without being boring. Thabk yall
Thank you! 😀
We have a couple geophagus at the aquarium I work at and they are probably one of my favorites. So fun to watch they are super chill
Thanks, Least Killifish don't get enough love! I have mine in a 20 gallon with Pygmy Corydoras. It's funny that they both have similarly dull colors. Unlike other livebearers the parents don't eat their babies, or at least not in large enough numbers to keep their population from exploding. The fry hang out in Subwassertang and aren't seen until I feed them. The adults are active and are fun to watch.
The small scape sent me here 😁
This sent me to small scape!
Great suggestions! I’m planning on doing a single species tank with moss green tiger barbs and green glofish tiger barbs. I think the various shades of green against a planted tank will look pretty cool. Thank you for your wonderful videos. You and Joanna are very inspiring and informative.
The shellie tanks...be still my heart! ❤❤
I loved this video!! I am sure I would really enjoy a shell dweller or rock dweller species only tank because I love it when my plecos and geophagus re-arrange the sand substrate...it's like you know they're having fun😊
The Small Scape sent me! 😉🤭😁 Great video Jason, nice suggestions!
Woohoo 😀
Fun video! I love my norman's lampeye killifish in their species only tank. They're at all levels of the aquarium and very outgoing. Easy to breed also leaving their eggs in the roots of plants like java fern, being the most easy to spot.
Those are cool fish!
I love my geophagus tapjos. They are the first fish I ever had that felt like a "big boy" fish, not the kind I saw at my local walmart growing up.
Ya those are cool fish!
Very informative and helpful! Thank you Jason!
I'd love to see more species specific tank vids. I'm just to lazy to go and find them. And I'm not against re-uploads on lazy days. Everyone needs some down time. Tanks hacks are also welcome. Look at me whining 😂😂 do your thing and imma still watch
Thank you very much for a very informative and timely video. I've wanted a species only 75 for years (my size limit) and will definitely follow your advice. Again thank you Jason. Now to watch Joanna's video.
thanks sir. your videos always bring joy to my heart
long time fan here but i had to say it: "The small scape sent me" 😋😋
Another great video!
I have a 29 gallon tank that i cannot decide if i want a single species with maybe a !bristlenose and breed caudopunctatus or a community cichlid tank. New to fish keeping.
The video answerd it for me
Excellent content! I admire your energy creating these very informative videos.
Thank you!
I have a 4 year old pearl gourami and he is one of my favourite fish I keep he is beautiful it watch stunning colour to him
I really enjoyed this video! I have gotten more into species only tanks recently!
So much fun!
I’ve been keeping fish for many years now , I’ve always been in to larger tanks but lately I’ve been getting in to smaller nano tanks and smaller fish , I’ve always had bigger tanks with one or two fish in them
Heyyyyy this is kinda what I was asking for! Thank you guys that's fantastic! ❤
Been wanting to setup a Midas tank for a while now. Might pull the trigger soon!
Thank you PTA for another great video. If I may ask, in the 10 gallon guppy segment I saw a purple plant...what is that please?
If it was real it might have been a crypt?
This is one of the best videos y’all have ever done!
Thank you!
Could you do a video on stocking ideas for a 60 gallons I know it’s not a lot different than a 55 but I would still like to see your thoughts on it 😊
Love your super healthy plant!! What kind of lights are You running and how long?? BR from Bolivia
We run all kinds of lights!
The Small Space sent me here. 😁😁 I would love an Electric blue acara tank or an Angel fish tank or even a fantail goldfish tank. Thanks, Jason. Gina
Woohoo!
So cool! Thanks for the ideas!!
back in the 80s I had a 125 with a colony of psuedotropheus saulosi, they've become hard to find.
I wish I still had them !
Florida Least Killifish are next on my list of fish to get, but I've had a hard time finding them for sale anywhere, since my LFS has a hard time sourcing them. If/when I get a chance to have a tank larger than 20gal, pearl gourami are also a fish I want to keep.
I'm sure Aquabid has them?
There are a couple listings on Aquabid, yeah, and there are a couple of online retailers that seem to have them, but it's just strange how few listings I've been able to find. I'll get them one way or another, though!
Great video! What type of Geo is that in the video with the Pearl Gouramis? Thank you in advance
That was probably our Acarichthys heckelii.
I like species only tanks. I'm pretty simple. Mystery snail, WCMM or shrimp in that order.
I have a 20 long with all male guppies, and a 6g with ten cherry shrimp...adding more shrimp eventually...they're not cheap
The best species only rainbowfish for a 125g would be Melanotaenia vanheurni Faowi Village. It’s the largest known rainbowfish at 7” long, and is mostly orange with some yellow, green and blue.
The best species only rainbowfish for a 75g would be Allen’s Rainbowfish, Chilatherina alleni Wapoga. The males shine with every color of the rainbow when they’re fired up.
For a 36” aquarium, I’d choose the undescribed Melanotaenia sp. Kali Tawa. The males have light blue, white and some gold/amber. The dorsal fina are a beautiful light blue and the anal fin is a blazing white color which is really unique. Then they have tails which look like they were dipped in red paint. The females look great which is a nice bonus. They have amber bodies and orange horizontal stripes.
For a 20g aquarium, I pick Pseudomugil gertrudae Aru II. This location type has blue bodies with black spots and amazing fins which are orange under good lights.
For a 10g, I pick Pseudomugil luminatus. This species is a slightly smaller, red version of P. gertrudae.
Great video. Thanks. Any suggestions for a 29 gallon non-heater, heavily planted tank with a sponge filter and a power head available if needed?
Paradise fish, white clouds or maybe some type of goodeid?
I'm a huge fan of mixing the gold white clouds and the regular, such a cool, hardy, little fish
What would you think of a 125-gallon Silver Dollar tank?
I have a 125 like that. 😀 I like them, but they can be skittish.
I know this is off topic but may I please request a driftwood video? I know there is one already but I was wondering if there are cheaper versions to buy and from where and also if I should use real or plastic driftwood thanks!
Great list!
Nice video , where did you get your t shirt? Thanks for your content.
We have them on our website - primetimeaquatics.com !
I must have got Demon Electric Blue Acara, either that or once a pair forms, all bets are off!! I had to split the original 6 out of my community 100. 3 of them took out 2 Dennison Barbs and a mature Rosy Barb, while picking the scales off the rest of the Rosies, in a heavily hardscaped and densely planted 125 gallon!! I have 2 females and a male left in my 100 gallon community without any problems yet, I suspect it's because they haven't paired. I love them as a centerpiece, still. 1 in a tank is truly splendid. The shimmer of chartreuse and teal over several striking shades of blue is remarkable. I recommend everybody have at least 1, but maybe just 1.
Which is why I jumped on the chance to get 7 EBA/wild-type Blue Acara hybrid fry, LOL!! They've already killed the smallest, and a new dominant emerges within 24 hours of taking out the previous dom. But at almond size they are individually innocuous in my endler tanks.
We all know this is leading to more tanks.....😅🤣😂🤣😂🤣
Joanna sent me here also,💙💙💚💚💚💚💚
I love geophagus! They are the reason I want to get a 6ft tank in the nearer future. If I got a group of 4-6 red head tapajos could I start them off in a 40 or 60 breeder to grow them out before getting a 6ft tank?
Definitely!
My primary tank is a 29g planted sunburst platy species only
Lovely
Nice video! 😁🐟
Awesome vid!
Awesome shirt brotha!!!
Thank you!
I love Pearl gouramis!
Thank you ❤
Is that black fish behind the yellow a gourami?
The small scape sent me 🙂
some really cool fish makes me want to get a 3rd tank lol
Yes!
Sir how much substrate in aquarium in inches
I usually try to have 2" or so
Hybridization in Geophagus, or eartheaters (Acarichthys, Biotodoma, Gymnogeophagus, Mikrogeophagus, Retroculus), is very uncommon, I remember seeing only one case under forcing conditions (G. abalios x pyrocephalus). In my experience, unless one mixes very similar looking species, the fish find their own group even in a mixed setup. Mixing is often unintentional as there are just too many undescribed species, and even the described or available ones, most people cannot distinguish them. 125 gallon is sufficient for most Geophagus, though 180 would be better for the larger members (G. abalios, G. altifrons, G. megasema, G. proximus, etc.) and rheophilic species (G. argyrostictus, G. taeniopareius, etc.). While 300+ gallon 8-10 feet setup is recommended for the more aggressive (G. harreri taking the throne for being the most violent and G. surinamensis, the real one, coming at second place)
I was referring to the surinamesis group, which can hybridize far more easily and their distinctions are already quite small. : -)
@@PrimeTimeAquatics even within that group it is uncommon, and within other genus i have not heard of much, either intentionally or not... like a ram crossing with a bolivian ram...? even putting a weird pair like this in an isolated setup, i don't see them catching feeling for each other ...
I have a question ❓ When you talk about KH and GH, you use percentages. But my test strips and my test kit uses numbers like 150. Which it says that is hard. So I don't understand the % . Others are starting to use it to. And I'm lost. 🤷 Can you help? Please.
Actually - I am using degrees. For every degree = approximately 17.5ppm. The 150 you are referring to is ppm. Hope this helps!
@@PrimeTimeAquatics YES it does help. Thank you so much for answering my question. I appreciate it very much.
Will you ever be selling the Julie's?
I do at the swaps.
@@PrimeTimeAquatics at the green water one coming up by chance?
I have pearl gouramis, 4 of them. 1 male and 3 females. And there is some aggression actually, the male chases the females pretty often. And sometimes the females also chase each other a bit, although not as much.
He said he had 18 of them. I imagine that’s enough to spread out the aggression compared to 4.
@@penicillengranny of course but not many people have 18 😄
@@jessicasmith-de1bt 1 male and 3 females here. My male chases the females pretty often but not for long periods. Sometimes the females also chase each other, also for short periods
Joanna said we should stop by.
Woohoo! : -)
I got a 10gal tall would dwarf gouramis work
I would go with honey gouramis instead.
What is the minimum tank size for 1 angelfish or 1 discus
Angelfish I usually recommend at least a 40 breeder or 55 gallon. For discus a 90 gallon.
Thanks
Never keep a schooling fish as a single...
👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻
Nothing but zebra danios
Zoom zoom
No love for the tiger barbs🥲
I was going for fish that inhabit all parts of the tank so I stayed away from most schooling fish.
