You have found the algorithm. every map from tfc that made it to tf2, make a video on. this is an amazing video idea, and myself and others would definitely want to see more.

7:32 Those bags in Pre-Fortress are replenish armor, on your hud you can see that scout has 25 armor. Once you have no armor, you can pick it up to fully replenish your armor 11:29 The buckets replenish trowables, for example grenades
At 6:44 you need tfc demoman's detpack to destroy the wall. There are also other places in the other parts where you can destroy the wall with the detpack.
The one thing I miss from TFC was the flank routes with destructible environments. CTF_Well had flanks like that. Same with CP_warpath which the TF2 community brought over from TFC. And had the destructible flank in TF2.
11:35 Fun fact, because they're based off older builds of the game, the Orange Box console versions for PS3 and XBox 360 don't have that staircase Every modded Dustbowl server I joined always had a diagonal ladder prop put there as a replacement
4:30 In 2007, there used to be a bug of where you would be able to build a tele exit VERY close under that ladder that would be used to trap your team. It was very funny. But it’s still possible for tf2 on this game bundle pack called “The Orange Box” for Xbox 360 since it’s the 2007 version of the game and it never got updated for 15 years unlike the pc version.

13:01 these stairs didnt exist on launch for tf2 they were added about 2 months later on Dec 20. the xbox360 ver of the orange box lacks these stairs despite the fact it got some patches past that date.
Many of the classic version routes that you say are not present are actualy there, you see them via no clip, and thats cuz Demoman has a explosive bag that can blow up the wall to open those shortcut routes for the attackers It took a long time to blow and if im not mistaken spies could disarm it, but made demoman an importan class to have in both attack and defence
something to note about TFC is that, on the whole, classes were faster, more mobile, and had more weapons and tools to navigate maps and overcome chokes (Scouts could outrun sentry turning speed, for example). Dustbowl is still very chokey even for TFC but other maps like 2Fort were much less egregious than they look
Plus, at 13:02, this modern version of Dustbowl ALSO used to not have those stairs back in 2007 either. They were added in a later update. And like I said on my other comment, it’s still like that on the Xbox 360 tf2 for the same reason I said
Been playing tfc lately and I'm always surprised when we somehow manage to push through a choke point in dustbowl. 8:50 is complete hell with grenades and no uber

Remember that Pre-Fortress 2 operated much like the Brotherhood of Arms Team Fortress (TFC), just on the newer engine. (The closest supported example could be TF2C) Note that the Duffel Bag you saw had the Engineer and Medic's gear inside (A hardhat and what looked like a syringe), and the bucket had a Dynamite Bundle and some different Grenades, which Demoman actually had on his sash in the original Teaser for Team Fortress in 2007. I believe that certain classes had specific pickups that only they could grab, as the Duffel Bag having Engineer and Medic's supplies and the bucket having Soldier/Demo's supplies.
5:38 hmmmm as far as i remember, before TF2 there was only one door in classic's dustbowl, it was hell (and fun to defend) . Also no teleports where available. Ladders are cheap for the GPU/CPU of the era, less geometry to render, and stairs where tricky to make less resource intensive on Wolrdcraft/Hammer.

Jesus christ, way too much editing when showing off TFC at 1:30 , that was unwatchable. It did not show off the maps original version, constant jump cuts every 2 seconds. The fast mouse movements and constant view shake is nauseating.

awesome video my guy, definitely enjoyed it! i think the concept of armor and grenades and those bags and buckets is really cool and i would like to see it in game but they really have to balance it well
a lot of those weird vertical spots that look impossible to navigate in classic can actually be reached by most classes because all classes can use grenades to rocket jump.

The bucket is filled with explosives, therefore being able to refill explosive weapons, and the backpack is filled with gas canisters and what's looks like flares for the flamethrower. Pretty neat, introduces a new challenge for ammo conservation
I know the jump cuts are being used to improve the commentary, but the constant jump cuts in the video footage while trying to put together a mental image of how the maps are laid out is super disorienting. I would've much rather seen a full uninterrupted video stream as you walk around the map.
I feel ladders were removed due to them interrupting the fluid movement system of TF2 where any movement you do can matter, now your momentum doesn't have to be interrupted by the climbable ladders. Also, it's a real shame they changed map 1 and map 2 so much, I really dig the design with the longer flanks and more defense spots. Map 3 was changed for the better only honestly, but I feel they really dumbed down map 1 and 2 too much.

Anybody else notice that in the first stage of pre fortress 2, the statue honoring the solider/rick may from may 2020 is present on the blu spawn side of the building? I think he is playing on a recreation of the pre fortress 2 map as I doubt that was added back then, unless some dev was planning ahead over 15 years, a timeframe most games die out in.
the reason why they took off ladders in tf2 is because how corny that was in multiplayer like the feet are floating while still aiming, in reality sense, you cant hold a shotgun, or minigun or any weapons that needs two hands for wielding while on the ladder. its common sight i always see back when i played tfc. you also did not mention the gameplay change of dustbowl from tfc to tf2 which is that is a major change since tfc uses a flag to carry all the way to the cap point while you need capturing points in tf2 (correct the spelling and grammar since i have bad English) anyways great video

I have this feeling like when you're walking through the maps (Specially on TFC) you are cutting the footage waaaay too much while doing it, what It makes it kinda hard to follow knowing the layout from TF2

That's incorrect. Demoman can't open any passages on dustbowl, they open automatically after 5 minutes.

The choke-iness of dustbowl makes sense when you consider that all it took was one blue medic getting past the defenses to win the game back in tfc
