“The button raised 3x so he should be strong but he’s on the button so his range is wide. I’ve seen him raise in this spot before versus a BB that 3bets light too often so he could be making a play to come back over the top with blockers, therefore I fold 72 off.”

When Chris Price is discussing the A9o hand, he mentions that he's going to fold and play tight to see how things progress (with Soto and Fausto) throughout the evening. This is a curious path to take in a game of frequencies, especially in live poker. It's unlikely that he's going to gather all that much useful data over the course of this session to accurately assist in making any kind of adjustment in this spot. Also, he should already be armed with a general idea of the frequencies of these players. It's either go-time or it's not!

9:38 "Because I unblock his folding region here, I could use this as an overbluff cbet" What? We are unblocking diamonds which is calling, not folding. Also we are not unblocking, but blocking Ax and Jx which is folding. If he bets here its not a cbet, but a lead since he is the preflop caller.
22:52 "I will typically take a stab at this if I had higher parts of my range" I would bet the lower parts of my range and check the higher parts of my range.

  • @willsims6748

I like the poker out loud format. But this episode 1 is not making me want to watch more. 3 bet utg open, K high flop and no C bet? The flop ahould favour his range. Pocket 7 fold to one bet on that one over card board? The player in position would be incentivise to take a stab with any cards after 2 check.

Watching this after watching the any 2 card action from earlier videos is hilarious.
At the end of the day, and despite a lot of ruminating/ range thinking, everyone is just playing their own hands here.
8-high with a gutshot, bets small flop, call, misses, and checks down turn and river to lose to 9-high. Looks like every one-two NL cash game between rec players that I've ever seen.

If you’re a 2/5 or even 5/10 grinder, this series might be what you need to take your game to the next level. But if you’re just trying to crush the small stakes, this is borderline useless.
4-betting with garbage hands, using 4-D chess logic to justify making absurd bet sizes for reasons that have nothing to do with value or fold equity, and general fancy play syndrome make this a bad example of how to improve your game if you’re just trying to master the lower live stakes, where the only thing people are thinking about are their own hands.

So hold on... you're saying that at 2/5 and beyond all this "4-D chess logic" absurd sizing and fancy play syndrome is profitable, but at lower stakes (against presumably lesser skilled players) it's a recipe for disaster? In other words, to win at small stakes we need to play less strategically?

@@SolveForWhy I think what he was getting at is the 4-D chess concept works better in 2/5, 5/10 high stakes is because players have a better grasp of the game's more advanced strategies, where the play style shown in this video would better impact opponents
who are critical thinkers, and in turn psych themselves out of hands they believe their opponents would generally have if containing certain hands or draws during certain plays.
However in lower stakes, especially in 1/2, people there are on average more loose and play wider ranges, so basically playing TAG in those stakes would be a preferred choice to some.
