- A quick and fun, pen and wash demonstration of my Urbansketching style. Easy to follow and learn.
The reference for this painting was a photo I took in Porto Portugal.
I was fortunate enough to have sketched this same image on location.

This is my usual "on the go" palette
but it can change to fit the subject.
Thank you for Watching.
Sorry, no music on this one.
There're a few things I like about this video: 1) The artist doesn't talk my ear off; 2) He uses real time speed; 3) The captions about what colors to use are very helpful; 4) The sketch leaves room for imaginning; 5) The techniques gives us ideas to develop our own style.
Thank you for not making this a speed paintig video like 99% of every other demonstration video I come across. People learn so much more when it is not a sped up video.
It would be great if you could add the photograph you used to do the art
perfect shading
The best 18 minutes spent. It was so meditative
I’ve become obsessed with your art! I’ve binged watch everything you’ve done and now I’m about to have a go. Absolutely love your pieces they’re just amazing. Thank you so much for sharing I will definitely be getting my family to buy some for my birthdays and Christmas’- my new WANTED list. 👍🏼🥰
This is the type of drawing I'd like to develop
It's just like being a child again, discovering things for the first time :
Thank you. You're 'quirky 'pen lines give so much character to the picture. I love the deep shadows and the detail of the lamp, washing line, chimney and green door and narrow streets. Very atmospheric.
By far the best tutorial / follow along video on watercolors I have come across all month !! Thanks so much ! Pure art , nothing chatty or sped up ! Brilliant
Thank you for taking the time to record and upload so many videos. I think it's just so generous of you to share your skills with strangers, especially for free. Truly, thank you. I've wanted to take painting classes but local classes have not been in my budget. Somehow, searching UA-cam had never previously crossed my mind.
I subscribed! Looking forward to seeing more of your videos!
Appreciated this instructional method, detailed, notes on screen with color info and approach to finish regarding shadows. Thank you.
OH THIS IS WHAT THE STYLE IS CALLED! I've been absolutely in love with this style and have been to trying to find tutorials without knowing what it's called and not finally I found out it's called line/pen and wash !! I love it
Thank you. Love your style of video. Simple, real time, annotated, I learn so much from them!
I tried this today and I’m about to cry out of happiness, it’s so beautiful , Thank you sir I won’t share it in my social media so the credit will stay yours .
I realize how much time you have spent putting your demonstrations online and I want you to know that I each one I've seen is like a jewel in itself. Thank you for sharing your approach with us and bringing art, learning and excitement to the Internet.
I love the free expression in your style. The looseness and lack of precise perfection is inspirational.
I love the silence. No music. No talking. No background noise. This video allows me to focus on the drawing and water colour technique. Thank you !
Love this tutorial! Thanks for sharing! ❤
