I appreciate how you show your paints and what you’re using. It keeps it simplified. Love your paintings and I will be spending some time trying to replicate them.
I'm so happy I found you! I absolutely adore your work. I have been working on a large canvas using mixed media. I was trying to make every building perfectly straight etc. You are teaching me to be free instead of being a perfectionist! 1,001 Blessings to you Mr. Sheeler.
I’m always struck by Peter’s short, choppy lines. Just the opposite of the long, bold stroke I was taught to use and I find the result so appealing. Thanks for reminding me that there is never just one approach to take. Love your work.
Thank you so much for sharing your talent. I've just completed this line and wash painting and enjoyed every minute of it. I was recommended you via another watercolour site I use alot, thank you again and I do hope you have a Wonderful 2023! x
Hi Peter All my life, I have never attempted to draw anything much because I was pretty useless at drawing “stick men”, so certainly didn’t venture beyond that. After watching your inspiring and beautiful sketches, I thought maybe, now in my seventies, I should have a go. To my amazement, after several attempts at copying your work, it started to come together, and I’m thrilled as to how they turned out. I wanted to say thank you for sharing your talent and for giving me something new in my life. My family are saying “I thought you said you couldn’t draw!!”, so it shows you are never too old to learn something new. Thank you again.
I tried this just now and it turned out very strong color contrast. I learned a lot from this video: how to draw without pencil draft, how to draw houses, how to draw windows and doors, and shadowing. It's great.
Peter this is so quirky, I love it. I am amazed at how different houses are across the pond. English houses look very different, similar in some ways, but different in building styles, windows, doors etc and roofs. Loved the way your colours brought everything together, I think I use too many colours, and the shadows made the buildings really pop. We tend to forget just how important the shadows are ( or at least I do!) Many thanks once again for sharing your beautiful art with us xxxxxxxx
Another mesmerizing drawing, Mister Sheeler! Love the simplicity of your work, and yet the intricate details that take me someplace far away in my own life. Sometimes it almost brings tears to my eyes. Go figure! Love your work!
Thanks Peter for sharing...your style is so charming! I slow down the video to half speed and can just about keep up! Here in lockdown Suffolk, England discovering watercolours is keeping me sane. So lovely to watch.
Hello Peter, I find your art a different kind of fresh air to try something different and enjoy doing it. Thanks for sharing. I am enjoying and I finally learned how to paint snow.
Hello Peter. My husband and I were on holiday in NL and while in St John's I fell in love with two things; the jellybean row houses and puffins. On our return to Alberta I wanted to paint both and managed to paint the puffin successfully (according to family and friends) but not with the houses until I came across this video. Thank you thank you for making this video. I now have my own watercolour painting of these houses and I am very happy with it. Love your style.
Wonderful! I love that you don't attempt long straight lines, rather you create your lines with short, broken movements. Much more achievable when hands are a bit unsteady, like mine. Mind you, those power lines took some bravery. You should consider publishing an adult colouring book of your line drawings. Thank you for a well produced and enjoyable video.
hehe... I've actually learnt to draw my straight lines more like Peter does these days... besides I think it gives them more character. But yeah, I kinda messed it up when I came to the power lines too ;) But why I felt compelled to comment is that I was thinking the same thing about Peter publishing a colouring book of his drawings. I like to sketch, but I find it more satisfying colouring them in. (And it would be a change from all the mandala and floral colouring books out there! Would just need to be on watercolour paper). Thanks Peter! I love winding down watching your wonderful, relaxing videos. They're always special 💖
I am so inspired by your art. I just saw a segment on the news about Urban Art. I'm hoping to try it. I have subscribed to your site. Is there a fee? Char C
Well if you actually look at things most things aren't straight. That is just what they teach at school unless you go to art school. IT wouldn't look realistic like he makes them look.
This is nice. No speed painting. Time to relax and think about the nature of man and God. You know even our straightest lines must appear jagged to such a perfect One as He. And with our little homes being all we have against the great power of nature above and below, surely He is aware of our fragile state. Bless this world full of dusty hearts, heavenly Father. And bless this painter with a long life.
I spend a lot of time with your painting .....you are perfect.... I enjoy watching you.... I love your stil... I' m very happy to find you.... Sorry if I have mistakes in writing English.
Another really lovely painting Peter thanks so much for sharing it with us.As always the colours are beautiful and those little red pieces, well I love them.Isabel
I just love this and I didn’t think I would. It was so relaxing g watching this video, I can’t wait to try it. You’ve opened up my creativity even more. Thank you.
Hello Peter bach, that is a very steep incline... as you were painting I could see a runaway piano hurdling-down... Stanley Laurel and Oliver Hardy in desperate pursuit! Nice-one - Cheers!
I live in San Francisco, California so steep inclines in some areas are not unusual. Gives me ideas to go out and find some victorians to paint. Love this painting and your fun, whimsical style. Thank you!
Peter Sheeler, thank you for this tutorial I did this and for the first attempt I didn't do too badly, although houses are more tilted LOL...however I can't do those grey clouds you make it escapes me.... thanks you for sharing tutorials
I’m a beginner and just read that the quality of paper is important and I’m gonna get the recommended by Peter. How about the quality of the watercolours? Do I need to buy a good brand to start with? I got a bunch of cheap paper and watercolours to practice :(
Honoured to get a reply, I have ordered a bottle from Japan and I think this will end my dilemma with the 2 Lamys..I paint very detailed and am trying to loosen up with your vision of line art simplicity. It is coming slowly as I photo all the old relic barns in the area for line and wash drawings over the winter. Love your style like most who compliment your work. Thanks again. Bob May
Thanks Bob. I love my Lamy pens. just wish they held more ink. Better yet, Lamy comes out with a permanent cartridge ink. Old relic barns are perfect for line and wash.
wonderful line work, perhaps you can assist? 6 months ago I purchased three of the ink pens you are using in this video, I found them to not work, I know that is on my part, but now they sit. I would love to clean them out and start fresh, can you recommend a video that would assist? Thank you!
Note to Peter S and Pat Nap...thanks for your ink input. My Platinum Carbon Black ink arrived from Japan and it is better than great...well worth the money and fairly short wait time. It is all the things I was looking for and more, very smooth flowing as a bonus. The Amazon supplier even had the projected day of delivery from Japan exactly right...Wow. Still looking to exchange a Lamy Safari broad nib for a fine nib if anyone is willing.
Peter, thanks again for another wonderful teaching video. Following your steps I tried KOI mixing tray and yes - the size and 5-section layout are very convenient. It is also easy to work with your tutorials accepting the same pigment layout as yours. But if to use the palette "as is" then paint/mix is beading up and contracting on plastic surface. After I sanding it with very fine sandpaper it behaves well but it is pretty hard to clean the palette afterwards. Which of two evils do you prefer with this and other plastic palettes?

Great comments and observations. Thank you very much :)
Thank you so much. You are inspiring and your paintings have a magical life of their own

Excellent demonstration Peter - Thank You
Glad you enjoyed it. Thank you
I crumpled up a lot of inkwork lately because of wanting it all straight, thank you for showing me this method. It's beautiful
I tried this just now and it turned out very strong color contrast. I learned a lot from this video: how to draw without pencil draft, how to draw houses, how to draw windows and doors, and shadowing. It's great.

Excellent hands-on walk-through !! Thanks for sharing!

Stumbled across you on Pinterest, I'm so glad I did. I love your style of drawings and your finished art work is splendid.
Thank you very much. I'm glad you found me as well :)
Very nice! I’m a Newfoundlander and recognized the thumbnail as being similar to jellybean row, so I clicked on it!
Hi Eja. What a great place and people. Love the Island! I do have an earlier video of actual Jelly Row houses.
Thank you. As usual, I've learned a lot. Es fantástico y muy didáctico, como siempre. Gracias

I've watched several of your drawing painting videos and their awesome. I'll have to try doing some similar to them👍👍
Thank you very much. I hope you do give them a go!

Hello Peter
Lovely video, i this much like this style, I also like the art of Nil Rocha artist, both a similar style.
Thanks for this
Thank you very much. I think a few of Nils videos are taken from my paintings :)
So it's probably a fan, I recently asked him in his videos about you, he said that he really like his art.
I love the art of both.
Take care
That's very charitable of you, Peter. He's copied them exactly.
I tried this.. It was quite easy following you line by line, thankyou
Thank you very much. That is what I like to hear :)
Gran bel lavoro. sei il migliore come sempre
Grazie mille. Sempre bello per ascoltare :)
Terrifficc as usual - love your details -- fun to watch
Thank you very much. Always appreciated :)
Hermoso trabajo!!! Gracias....!!!!!
De nada. Gracias por ver :)
LOVE this one..
Thank you very much. Always appreciated :)
I have just found my new love!! Drawing little houses and watercolor mixed with pen and ink is my go to.
What kind of a pen is this you are using?
You are my big inspiration! Thank you🙏🏻😇❤️
Thank you very much. Always nice to hear I've inspired :)
Yes Deb, that's a good idea to have the colouring book on watercolour paper, but any good quality paper would do. So.......how about it, Peter? 😊
Maybe. Not a bad idea :)
Love the cadmium Yellow
love this....puts one in a ghood mood
Great comment. Thank you!
Wonderful
I love this!
Thank you very much! :)
Does anyone know if he is using the fine or extra fine nib? I want to order the same pen 😊

Hello back from Canada! Thanks

Hi Ted. I didn't have the problem of beading but I did end up with stained areas due to the earlier use of two sided tape holding down my paint tabs.
Absolutely love your illustrations and paintings. If I may, what ink do you use in your TWSBI that doesn't run when applying water?
Platinum carbon black ink.
@@PeterSheelerart Thank you, the PCBI works like a charm. Enjoying my new semi-retirement passion at age 60 thanks to you!
Awesome !!!
Thank you very much :)
Thanks for the suggestion, is it waterproof
