MATERIALS:
PAPER: Size- 5"x7"
Strathmore 500 Series Sketchbook 901b Paper for this Video.
My papers of choice include Arches 140lb Hot press and Cold press paper and Strathmore 500 series Sketchbooks. All are 100% cotton rag.
For beginners, I recommend starting with a high quality paper and experimenting with different types. As your style develops, you'll get a feel for which type is best. Waiting to switch to a better quality paper later will be much like learning to paint all over again.
PEN: The Uni-ball deluxe micron pen .5mm nib. These pens are extremely waterproof on my papers and can be painted over immediately.
BRUSH: A Polar Flo 1/2 inch flat brush is my current favorite. The bristle were originally white but have become stained.
I often use inexpensive brushes because several of my techniques are quite abusive.
Whenever the brush disappears from the screen it is either being wiped off or rinsed.
PAINTS: Winsor Newton- Yellow Ochre, Burnt Sienna, Sap Green Ultramarine.
Thank you for watching! - Навчання та стиль
First I noticed your photos on Pinterest, then I discovered this wonderful channel on UA-cam. It is such a joy to see how the pictures are created, especially how you mix the colors. As a sketching beginner I can learn so much. Thank you so much for sharing your art 😊
No worries. There is something very comforting about old farmhouses and telephone poles and what they evoke of simpler times. I think everyone likes them.
Thank you Francoise. You're right. Unfortunately, the old farm houses and barns are disappearing here.
As a beginner, this is my favourite tutorial so far. I love the way this came out for me. Thank you!
You make it look so easy. Every line goes exactly where it belongs with no hesitation,
This is such a restful little piece and I particularly appreciate the composition and clever framing.
Thank you so much for teaching in such a simple and beautiful way🙏Gratitude ⭐🌟
Boy, I could watch you paint for hours, it's like a meditation with the music.
Very kind words. Greatly appreciated. Peter :)
Peter. You have inspired me into a new way forward for my art. I felt like I could not find the thing I am best at. I am now making line & wash paintings that my Mrs goes "Oooo I like that" and I have YOU to thank. I was stuck in a rut, but now I am excited for each new project I start. As I travel about - I am looking at the world in a whole new way - full of squiggly lines and colour. oh btw - I also use your videos for relaxing. Brilliant. Thanks once again.
Sooo beautiful! I love ALL your paintings & followed along with you today & did two of them. Thank you so much for sharing your God- given talents!
Not "yikes another farmhouse", but Yay! Another beautiful work of art with the perfect music in the background. Thank you sharing with us. Happy New Year.
You are most welcome Laura :) Best wishes for 2017 to you as well
Just absolutely stellar. So inspiring to watch you work.
Amazing what draws to a painting. The tree across the street from the farm house. As always wonderful job 😀❤👋
Thank you for all of your videos. I have enjoyed your great ink work and watercolor. Really a joy to watch you! Do some more!!
Thank you Vickie. So glad you enjoy them
What I loved in ur videos there is no time lapse! This's very very helpful. Thank u Peter
Thank you very much. That's nice to hear :)
Good, Peter. Always enjoy your new offerings. Nasty scratch...but we soldier on through.
LOL John. I'm lucky to be alive ;)
This is so lovely! Interesting (and helpful!) to watch the process. I love the shadow behind the house and on the road. Small detail, but it helps it feel like a real setting.
Your tutorials are so easy to follow even with no narration. Great for me since I'm a pen and ink illustrator drawn to watercolor, but my watercolor instructors have been all paint and brush. The pen is so much easier for me to control than brush tips, so this is the perfect recipe for the best of both and maybe success instead of frustration.
Thank you very much Tricia. Great to hear. hope it works well for you :)
SO inspirational. You have style.
Love your style. Such an inspiration!
I've been looking forward to another painting and here it is! It's great to see some summer green in the middle of this bitter cold. Thanks again.
Thank you very much Patricia. I had overdone the snow scene a bit. Glad to be green myself :)
Hi Peter I loved your water painting very much. The technique and your style is perfect. I will try this. Greetings from Australia 🇦🇺

Mine turned out lovely, thank you so much Peter and best wishes for 2023!
Love your videos - they're inspirative and educative both at the same time. Whenever I watch them, I want to get started myself immediately, grab my painting stuff and begin - but somehow - I dunno - I am sitting here watching another one of your videos. I like the kind of sketching and the colors you use. Thanks for uploading!
Also, I love your use of limited colors.
Thank you so much for these tutorials. I am doing them all and learning from you.
Thank you very much. That is what I like to hear :)
Thank you very much! I am only beginning my watercolour journey and trying different approaches and styles. This was so much fun to recreate, indeed! I was pleased with the result, even such newbie like me managed to achieve something by following your steps :) I loved how simple you kept it by using just 4 colours, this allowed me to understand better how watercolours work when mixed, etc, and what you can do with just 4...Loved the music too :)
Thank you for the opportunity to watch....I'm so inspired as I watch you work. Excellent!!!!
Thank you very much Dee Dee. Always nice to hear I've inspired :)

Hi Peter, I've been following you since last 3 years. 3 years back, I was in Toronto for 3 months with my daughter. Though I'm mostly a spray paint artists, I wanted to try water colouring. I chanced upon your tutorials and tried many of them. Your videos are wonderful. They are simple to follow. They keep me immensely happy while I'm doing water colours. Thanking you for sharing your talent.

so very glad I found your lesson, I love watercolor and ink. the few paintings I have from my Dad, using watercolor and inks, I love to play in these mediums and am always excited when I find a painting that makes me think of my Papa working on a quick sketch on his travels to Italy. thank you. I treasure his watercolor pan set..Rembrandt.. and use it on occasions
Thank you very much Eva. I'm glad you found me as well :)
Having a paint set with that sort of family history would be fantastic.
Loved these, you art has gotten me into watercolor and trying this technique to do art to display in my home. Love these and thank you for sharing this awesome watercolor.
Thank you very much. Always great to hear I've inspired :)
I realize this is an older video but I would just like to say that as a beginner I normally do not watch videos with no voice instructions as the artist tends to go so fast or speed up the video that I can’t keep up with the colors they are mixing (;which are usually done off screen) or what they are doing…this is a wonderful video and I can’t wait to try it! Thank you so much!
This is awesome!
Happy Hew Year and thank you for sharing your talent!
You are most welcome Jim :) Best wishes for 2017 to you as well
You are an inspiration to me, it can be seen that you are very passionate about sharing with us your ways of seeing the world. I am currently living in a busy, crowded, and very grey city and your art always brings up a corner of nature and emanates serenity. So, to find my own inspiration, even in such a "urban" surrounding, I am working on finding those details and put them on paper, just like you do. I am very happy to have found your channel !
Thank you very much. Hearing that makes this all worthwhile for me. I love grey and busy places as well as the wide open spaces :) Peter

Very kind words Jessica. Thank you very much and hugs back. Peter :)
Thank you so much for sharing your talent in this video. I'm trying to get back to practising my watercolours and had a great time painting along. Somehow I managed to mix up the paints and by the end I realised I had been using burnt umber instead of sienna, but I think I did alright for my first proper little watercolour painting in ages.
Thank you very much. Always nice to hear I've helped :)
Burnt umber is a great color I rarely use anymore. May have to dig it out.
Beautiful work and tutorial! COMPLIMENT.
Thank you so much!

Thanks so much. Glad you found it helpful. Peter :-)
The chewing gum trays are a brilliant idea for holding the paint!
Hi Mark. Yes, I've even used a full tray with twelve colours. There is a little trick with the 4 colour one that I will have to show in a video.
Looking forward to seeing that....
