      @R3AP PA!NBR1NGR I've pre-ordered the whole bundle as well and can't wait to check it out next week! Unfortunately it's looking as if a lot of the extra features like the bonus dungeons from the remakes won't be in this version, but even so, it's great to have an updated version of the original available on modern platforms! 😀

      @R3AP PA!NBR1NGR I totally hear you! I honestly wouldn't have gotten the bundle if it wasn't for the fact that I'm gonna end up doing videos on these new versions sooner or later... Hopefully in the near future I can write it off as a business expense... 😂

      @@crixus8183 Thanks! I hope you enjoy the game! 😀
      As cool as the new FF1-3 will be, I'm super excited for FF4-6. IMO the first three games really benefitted a lot from the remakes they got over the years, while 4-6 don't really need anything extra, and the new pixel remake graphics look super sweet to me compared to the "flash game" look of the versions that were on Steam before...

    Final Fantasy 1 is genuinely my favourite Final Fantasy. It's just a no bullshit game, no weird gimmicks and a very simple story I can get behind. I can get behind more character driven story but nowadays that's a dime in the dozen that something like FF1 feels like a breath of fresh air.

    • @Altercate
      @Altercate  2 роки тому +4

      I totally get that! Did you try the Pixel Remaster, by the way? It's kind of a brainless experience as most of the challenge from the original game has been removed, but I think it's just a really pleasant way to spend time :)

    I still like to replay it occasionally, the original NES version or a rom hack based on it. I used to love skipping the volcano and go to the ice cavern first. it's really hard due to all the cold based enemies and some with insta kill, but then you can get the airship and kinda do whatever then! I mean it was a really basic game because it was the start and they had no idea if people would like it! I do prefer orbs instead of crystals, never got why they switched it.

    • @Altercate

      Thanks for sharing! I agree about the game's open-ended design. This time around (in the Pixel Remaster) I went for Castle Ordeals first, then Ice Cave, then Mt Gulg! 😀

    Started this last night. And it does feel dated. But it's still lots of fun. Sadly, I've never finished a Final Fantasy game, so I think I'll run through this, finally finish VI on SNES, and probably VII. I definitely still has some cryptic NES stuff in it, which is amusing to see in the GBA version. You can improve graphics, but you can't take the NES out of a...well, you get it.

      More than dated i would say is simplistic and very refined.
      "amusing to see in the GBA version"
      Other FF are like this and force you to grind like half hour, much more than FF1 and nobody complains.

      @@sebastianaliandkulche .I have to say FF1 is my 5th favorite one in the franchise, I really liked it.
      But, I guess you are talking about FF2-5, because from FF6 onwards I don't remember I needed to grind to advance in the game in any way. FF9 may be the other one, especial to go through the chore of Thievery (but it is not needed) and to get AP maybe too so I can change the equipment (but I don't remember well, I admit I don't like FF9 too much).

    • @sebastianaliandkulche
      @sebastianaliandkulche 2 роки тому

      @@SeventhheavenDK I never feel FF2 was grindy (the PSP remake of course). The ones that bother me were 3, 4 (only to beat final boss), 5, 6 and 8.
      Of all the first 6 i tend to only replay the remakes since they were way less frustrating to grind, but is still present in a few ones.

    As a late comer to the series (seriously, I've only played XV and VII Remake) who played early RPGs like Ultima back in the 80s... I enjoyed the Pixel Remake quite a lot as the game is simplistic enough to be charming. Easily my favorite of the first 3 with all the quality of life improvements of the Pixel Remasters.
    I do dig the additions the next two games make, but I think they ultimately end up just complicating the game without adding any real depth.

    • @poleon2003
      @poleon2003 Місяць тому

      Yeah and I know this is blasphemy to say this but I'd rather have a RPG I can breeze through rather than a grindy as hell one as it was in the original NES version but although some diehard older fans may be disappointed by the lower difficulties of the recent versions but I feel like square probably knows that modern gamers nowadays don't really try to beat a game for a sense of accomplishment they just wanna beat it to experience it and would rather be comfortable than frustrated besides a lot of the NES RPGs were kinda designed to waste your time back in that era

    I like the Origins version, I am interested in the Pixel Remaster, but I haven't decided yet.
    The PSP version is very good, I guess, but I don't like it simply because I don't like the look of the Black Wizard (my favorite character) in that game.

      Origins is the only remake with respectable graphic changes. Every time I consider pixel remaster, I look at the characters and just get turned off from it again.

    If you wanna brainlessly run thru ff1 and be blasted with eye candy. Play remaster. If you looking for an actual challenge play nes version and never farm. Only make steps. Understand the original programmers didn't know people would purposely brake the game by dancing in one spot to level up. It is not required to farm to win in nes. And in remaster they cranked encounters up so hi that your farming by playing it

    • @stevenclubb7718

      Back then I was off playing Ultima on PC, so the NES is largely undiscovered country for me... but grinding was a pretty logical step to take when playing RPGs back then. It was simply a question of how long were you willing to keep doing it so you rarely got ridiculously overleveled because it just took too damn long, and we didn't have podcasts that we didn't really need to pay attention to.
      The problem I see with the fundamental design of the first three games is brute force solves pretty much every problem, which makes grinding a very attractive strategy... something they start seriously addressing starting with IV.
