I always love when reactors react to Road Of Resistance.... A lot of reactors have that "Is that little girl really calling for a wall of death" in the beginning.... And then you see the "oh shit" look when they realize that a 5'2" Asian girl called for, and got a big ass wall of death/mosh pit, is hilarious. Love the sing a long part with the fans... I think they added that part in just to give the drummer a break before his legs flies off. Hope you do more Babymetal, it's a fun wild ride. 🤣🤣🤣🤘🦊🤘

From interviews we actually have some back story on why during the sing along it's pretty quiet. It's because of the first venue Babymetal was set to perform it at (Brixton O2). The venue had a lot of reverb, so the idea was: we can't perform this song here. But Yuimetal insisted it should be performed (probably because this song is part of the story of Babymetal at that time and the UK is where the song in part originated because of the guitarists of Dragonforce). So some of the instrumentation was removed and this is how the song has remained every since.

Thanks again from Japan 有難う💛。I am a 67-yo Japanese old man who is one of the crowd ranging from infant to octogenarian at BABYMETAL concerts 😄 . The crowd involvement (mosh pit, call & response, chant etc.) occurs wherever they go on this planet. American people also did good job in any of 20 shows during BM's 2019 US Tour. For example, you will find videos showing 17,500 audiences doing the same chanting (even much longer one) at the Forum, LA on Oct. 11, 2019. In your video, Su shouted some words at 09:20 meaning "Bring them on!". Fans analyzed that the provocative shout was thrown at people who had been ignoring, underrating, mocking, hating and even trying to discredit BABYMETAL. That shout may have been necessary in 2015 but not any longer. She shouted it rarely since then. Last year (2021), on the final day (April 15) of 10 BABYMETAL BUDOKAN concerts, Su shouted the same words in the end-all of the show. She did it smilingly with matured, mild and friendly voice. It meant, I believe, "come on guys!" The audience smiled her back. I was there at the venue ヽ(^o^)丿

The ramp to the smaller stage in the middle is called a hanamichi, and it comes from traditional Kabuki theater. So cool how they draw on all things Japanese.
Babymetal fans are incredibly diverse. Heavy metal dudes like myself, pop punk, emo, jpop, old, young, in between. You see a lot of fathers and daughters at a Babymetal concert for some reason. Fathers with 6 year old daughters to fathers with 50 year old daughters. Lot of families. And the nicest bunch of people you will ever meet,

3:12 _Now Pizza Time! (Pizza Time!)_ 🦊🤘🍕
Thanks for coming back with more BM songs. This is one of their epic anthem and is really rare that you didn't listen to this song since you said you already know all their songs from early era, 1st and 2nd album, that's why I didn't recommend you any of those, but is fun if you want to come back and listen all those classic BM songs and watch a different version, btw this song doesn't have MV version, this one is the official live version and is heavily blocked so I'll praise to the Fox God for this not being blocked 🦊🙏
_Road Of Resistance_ is a power/speed metal song, is one of their most epic anthem and got the guitar arrangements made by Sam Totman and Herman Li from DragonForce. Is all about facing your own path without looking back.
The wall of death is nuts just like you noticed, is also called "mosh'sh pit", different from usual mosh pit because this one is safe to participate if you fall everyone will stop until you get up and get ready to keep going with the fun ride.
This was part of the Trilogy Of 2015, live at New Year Fox Festival - Saitama Super Arena, by this time their fame was already high due to viral success on YT of Gimme Chocolate! MV, people from all over the world attended this live concert in Japan, and 20K souls witnessed this epic moment.
With only 15 and 17 years old this moment will be forever remember when they performing this song to reminds them all the support they got from their fans no matter where they go, either a small or big stages.
The Kami Band here are glorious set of elite musicians whom were send to help with the metal sound, they rotate so probably you won't see some of them in all live concerts (specially the guitarrists), all of them are males.
    They are:
    - Leda Cygnus, god of guitar, he's the only Kami Band member who's credited as a session musician when recording some albums.
    - Takayoshi Ohmura, god of guitar, he's Míkio' Fujioka's pupil (another beloved Kami Band guitarist who sadly past away) and a prodigy child, you'll see his recognizable pink guitar.
    - BOH, god of bass, he's the bald one and not only got amazing talent but her fun way to enjoy reminds me Flea from RHCP.
    - Hideki Aoyama, god of drums, he comes from a family of expert drummers, and his father is very famous in Japan music scene.
We are proud to have fans from all over the world, men and women, childrens from 2 years old (maybe even younger) to 70 and probably more. They originally target the audience to girls like them and some of the lyrics and songs were made to be related to those but the metal sound gather everyone and it was almost unavoidable to like their songs to almost anybody.
Thanks for sharing this and hopefully this won't be blocked.
See u next time and kitsune up!🦊🤘❤️

"Stand up and shout, Shout!, Justice Forever!" - (Road of Resistance) -
This performance was at Saitama Super Arena (SSA) in January of 2015, with a sold out crowd of over 20,000.
BABYMETAL's lead singer, Su-metal (Suzuka Nakamoto, or Su) first appeared at SSA in 2008 as the youngest member of the J-Pop trio Karen Girl's, when she was 10 years old.
She's been back many times since, headlining with BABYMETAL.
BABYMETAL believe that if a song sounds too much like one genre, then it's not a BABYMETAL song.
You can definitely feel the speed metal component in this one though.
Guitarists that night were Takayoshi Ohmura and Leda Cygnus. The bassist was BOH, and the drummer was Hideki Aoyama.
The studio version features guitar tracks from Herman Li and Sam Totman of DragonForce.

This was the proper way to close an incredible concert. 90+ minutes performed with this level of energy. It's just amazing.
Yep, the lyrics and the whole song is kinda an anthem about walking your own path... even if there is no path. A little like their actual history.
Su-metal told that she made this song her personal anthem and that moment walking on the bridge was one of her favorite moments on stage.
    Until next time!

@@SlayWithBrandy Babymetla fans are as young as less than 1 year old to over 80 years old. They come from all over the world and backgrounds & cultures, their are no borders. Babymetal is like a gateway band. Their are fans from the K-pop side, from the J-pop side, from rock and metal fans to jazz fans and western pop fans, etc. Babymetal because of their music genre being a fusion and because of their live shows and their quality to deliver it live attracts people from all over (technical people in music praise their live performance quality, so I assume some of them are fans). A Japanese TV show claimed 1/3 of Babymetal fans are girls/women. Not many metal bands have that split. And I think at a live show you'd see more guys, but still plenty of ladies too. Or maybe it's just my western bias and the 1/3 split is for Japan only ? You will regularly see kids on the shoulders of dads at Babymetal live shows, when I say kids I mean up to 10 year olds with big industrial ear protection (because child ears are more sensitive). Anyway, why can I claim even less than 1 year old ? Because I've seen a video on UA-cam (which I've not been able to find again sadly) which was an actual baby when Babymetal music was playing it was happy and when it stopped or other music was playing it was crying. 🙂

Great reaction. Live BABYMETAL is just better - and you picked up on some of the reasons why ... for a start you get the energy, the way they interact with the crowd, the performance and the show they put on.
One of the biggest reasons is that live you get to hear Su-metal's vocals unspoiled by the over-processing and compression they always seem to do in the studio recordings ... and she is an extraordinary vocalist and performer.
On top of that live is the only time you will hear the Kami Band with the instrumentals, they don't do the studio recordings (the only known exception is guitarist leda Cygnus who has recorded the guitars and bass for a handful of the songs).
It may be worth you revisiting live versions of the older songs you have only heard from the albums in the past. Some say if you only hear the studio recordings you are missing out on as much as 60% of what BABYMETAL are really all about.
This video was from January 2015 at the Saitama Super Arena. Su was 17, Yui and Moa only 15 and that was over 20,000 people completely under their control. This was also the end of a 90 minute concert and they had been keeping that same energy up without any drop in quality for the whole time.
As well as that long central bridge out to the small stage there were two more bridges at either end of the stage leading to a couple more small stages that they used at various points in the show.
About the song itself. 'Road of Resistance' is a very positive song, I'm not sure the translation really works so well to convey what it is really about, but it isn't the usual "resist the machine or the system etc" that we might expect from the title. It is about forging your own road even where a road doesn't already exist, not necessarily going the easy way or following the path already made by somebody else, so if the way you want to go has never been trodden you may have to get past the resistance of the undergrowth, obstacles, hurdles and things blocking your way etc to find your own way.
It could easily be used to describe BABYMETAL's own story - they could have followed the well trodden path of J-Pop and been very successful, but they chose to go with Metal ... but again they didn't just follow the same old format of every other metal band, they have done it their own way and it hasn't always been an easy route to follow.

You ask who is their fan base? I'm a Babymetal fan. I'm a 60+ year old male and I went to 2 shows in England, on my own, in 2020 just before lockdown. I have friends that will come to some concerts but Babymetal is a little beyond their understanding.

@@SlayWithBrandy I'm 49. I like Babymetal and Japanese entertainment in general because they show girls and women being feminine. I know that makes me some kind of monster but I just like seeing girls being girls. I feel like that is missing in America. I don't know why anyone believes that acting like men is empowering for women. To me that is insane. It seems like there is some kind of war on femininity. I don't like it. As an evil straight man I don't think there is such a thing as too feminine. Babymetal are like extra daughters. I have a daughter but I'm not able to see her because of stuff that is nobody's fault.

@@SlayWithBrandy it's not that they autotune their voices in music videos. It's that in music videos the audio is the studio track. Unless it's an (official live) then what you're hearing is just the album.

when you go to a Babymetal concert you will be surprised with who goes. everybody. period. teens. middle age. older. male. female. their crowds are every age group and race. i went to the Forum in LA and saw young teens to grandpa and grandma and all in between. i think that is what Babymetal is about. it is a band for everybody. they do not fit into a certain metal box so it seems the fans are the same way.

As I understand it Su-metal practices her vocals while running on a treadmill and they also do several weeks of cardio before tour's and major performances

That treadmill thing is a fan generated rumor.
Neither Su, or anyone else on the BABYMETAL team has ever said that in any interview.
Su and Moa have mentioned that they work on core strengthening before going on tour.

Well, the reactions to this performance are always worth watching. :)
But, did I just hear an invitation to recommend some bands from the rock or metal genre to you? Well, since Babymetal has pushed the door to the Far East wide open, I can't help but recommend two different bands to you. :) For friends of good old hard-rock, there is no way around Band-Maid, with their song 'Domination' (Live!). And the second one, if you like it a bit heavier, is Nemophila with their MV to 'Dissension', of which there are two versions. I recommend the original version with the red hair in the thumbnail. :) Believe me, if you like rock and metal, it's worth a listen!
    Greetings from Germany!
