⚡ 💀 💕 / 💓 ⏰ In Japanese, "Doki Doki" represents the sound of an excited heartbeat. This was their first single, music video, etc. BABYMETAL was still a sub-unit of the school themed idol group Sakura Gakuin. It was this video blowing up on social media that helped BABYMETAL start to go viral, especially outside of Japan. The song was first recorded in late October 2010, and the DVD single with the music video was released a year later. When the music video came out, lead singer Su-metal (Suzuka Nakamoto, or Su) was thirteen, Yui and Moa were twelve. Pretty much everything that followed was because this video unexpectedly blew up. 'Doki Doki ☆ Morning' covers all of those traditional Heavy Metal themes, like waking up excited for a new day at school, and deciding on your lip gloss and cute hairstyle for the day. : ) Even with a shoestring budget this video is the one that blew up on social media. This song is still a huge hit with fans when they play it live. It reminds us how far they've come since 2010. And of course it's adorable. And brutal. Then adorable again.
Wearing borrowed clothes and supported by a fake band. Humble beginnings! The guys in the skeleton costumes were just random crew members, not musicians, and not playing. It was really just the girls back then, singing and dancing to pre-recorded instrumentals.
Great reaction. BABYMETAL started off singing to a backing track with pre-recorded instrumentals. In this video and when they started doing their own solo shows the guys in skeleton suits (Babybones) would be on stage with them miming the instruments (they are actors or staff members, not musicians), but they were still singing to a backing track with pre-recorded instrumentals. When it was decided BABYMETAL would split from their parent Idol group the live band were gradually phased in playing a couple of festival appearances and the encores in some shows - their first appearance was at Legend I on 6th October 2012. The live band are the Kami Band (kami means god or spirit, so they are the gods of guitar bass and drums, summoned by the Fox God to support BABYMETAL in live shows - which is why they wore the traditional white burial robes and corpse face paint). They are among Japan's very best session musicians. The Kami band finally took over as BABYMETAL's live support band for the entirety of all live shows in early 2014 starting with the two Budokan shows. More recently the white robes are now black and the face paint has been replaced with masks (nobody likes the masks, we want the Kami Band to have their faces back). The girls were very proud of the fact they taught the Babybones guys the choreo in this video themselves. You have requests for 'Headbanger' live at Legend 1997 already and that is so good, but please consider the very first appearance of the Kami Band at Legend I where they played 2 songs for the encore ... the first was 'Headbanger' and this is the video ua-cam.com/video/hYHzzPzUIM8/v-deo.html It starts with a short intro video explaining the Kami Band to the audience (sorry I don't have a translation, but you will get what is happening from what I said above). This very first Kami Band are not the regulars you will see in later videos.
BABYMETAL 101 Founded 2010 and produced by Key “Koba” Kobayashi from the Amuse Inc. talent agency. Babymetal name comes from the birth of a new style of metal fusing j-pop with metal creating what they call Kawaii Metal (Cute-Metal). The group currently consists of Suzuka Nakamoto aka “Su-Metal” (22 years old) sometimes referred to as Vocal and Dance, and Moa Kikuchi aka Moa-Metal (21 years old) sometimes referred to as Scream and Dance. With a rotating trio of girls filling the third slot, in a 3-member formation. These girls are known as Avengers and are Kano Fujihara (16 years old), Riho Sayashi (21 years old), and Momoko Okazaki (17 years old). They are supported by a rotating selection of talented backing musicians known as the Kami Band (Kami is usually poorly translated as gods, but in truth it more closely means awe inspiring spirit, entity, or object) It is why they are dressed in white to look like ghosts or spirits, though Kami being used as God(s) is so common in translation the white outfits get lost. Past Formations. Heavy Music Club Era (2010-2012) From 2010 to 2012 Babymetal consist of a three-member formation, Suzuka Nakamoto (Age 12), Moa Kikuchi (Age 10), and Yui Mizuno aka Yui-Metal (Age 10). First starting out as the Heavy Music Club as a subunit within the Developmental Idol Group created by Amuse in 2010 known as Sakura Gakuin. Sakura Gakuin is group that introduces girls between the ages of 10-15 to music, dance, modeling, and acting through Japanese Pop idol music and culture. Given a school theme, all three would be a part of Sakura Gakuin until their graduation from it in the same school year they would graduate from Japanese middle school or 15 years old. Suzuka graduated in March 2013, and Moa and Yui in March of 2015. Sakura Gakuin is a fantastic group with great kawaii jpop songs in their own right. During this time there was no lore, and the girl’s costumes were more punkish in nature which they helped create. They also didn’t perform with live music, using a backing track or the “Skeleton band” people pretending to play music behind them. Music Video of this Era Doki Doki Morning Iine (Pronounced EE-NAH spelled i i n e) Headbangya Babymetal Era (2012-2017) Starting in 2012 with the Legend I concert, Babymetal began its slow divorce from Sakura Gakuin, and was the first introduction of the Kami Band as well as the “Lore” that is still heavily involved in Babymetal but makes far less sense than it did during this time. The Lore is complex and involves a battle against other evil idol corporations, gaining powers running a resistance group, all at the direction of a mythical deity known as the fox god, against an all power enemy known as Akiba. The first Legend show I was the Kami Bands introduction to the end, but it also had the Skeleton Band which is seen in the wildly popular Gimmie Chocolate Music Video. This was followed by Legend D, and then Legend Z, in which it was learned that Babymetal would continue as its own entity after Suzuka’s graduation from Sakura Gakuin in March of 2013. Slowly over 2013 the Skeleton Band would be phased out of all live shows, as Babymetal came into their own. Babymetal as it is most commonly known as with Su-Metal, Moa-Meta, and Yui-Metal, Kami Band, and a somewhat understandable lore is what consisted for the majority of it’s existence. Also established beyond the 3 member formation, they had 2 other set ups, one was what fans called Su-Solos, and it would just be Su on stage with the Kami band, performing a solo, and the other is known as Black Babymetal by the band themselves, which consisted of just Moa and Yui. Music Videos of this Era Gimmie Chocolate Megitsune Rondo of Nightmare - With mischief of the Gods Intro (Su Solo and a great expedition of the Kami Band) Road of Resistance Live in Japan (Co-written by Dragonforce) Iijime, Dame, Zettai Live at Sonisphere (No More Bullying Forever) Karate The Dark Times, The Chosen 7 Era In December 2017, Yui would miss the Legend-S concert for health reasons, these health problems would prosiest into 2018 and greatly affect the 2018 touring season bring the “Chosen 7” formation, consisting of Suzuka Nakamoto, Moa Kikuchi, and 2 backing dancers Minako Maruyama, and Minami Tsukui. Changes they would not tell fans and all throughout 2018 communicate extraordinarily little causing lots of pain for all involved fan and performer. This era is noted by their strange armor like costumes, sometimes referred to as Elf Armor. To make the poor communication, and Yui’s absence wasn’t bad enough, one of the more regular Kami band members, Mikio Fujioka passed away after falling off a balcony in late December 2017 while star gazing. A beloved and incredibly talented musician lost leaving behind his wife and only child. In September 2018 Yui would formally resign from Babymetal, stating her unspecified health and wishing to move on. Babymetal themselves announced that the group will move on focusing on Suzuka and Moa. (Something many idiots within the fandom refuse or are too stupid to understand) In October Babymetal had a concert called Dark Night Carnival which added dancers, Shoko Akiyama, Saya Hirai, and Kotono, placing a total of seven girls on stage. This was also done without warning to fans and was an absolute mess. Babymetal would finish off the 2018 tour season returning to the 3-member formation with just Saya Hirai joining them in southeast Asia and Australia. Ending one of the most troubling times in Babymetal’s history. Music Videos of this Era (These MVs do not feature the members in them at all) Distortion Starlight Metal Galaxy Era The current set up was first introduced in 2019 during the Babymetal Arises concert in Yokohama, before the start, the “Avenger” support dancer concept was explained in the lore, and the concept thanks to communication and a maintaining of the 3 member formation brought Babymetal out of dark times brought about during 2018. Babymetal seemed to have returned to its roots with the Avengers, as 2 of the three (Kano and Momoko) come from Sakura Gakuin. The third Riho, went to the same performing arts school as Suzuka during the same time, Actors School Hiroshima aka ASH. Music Videos of this Era Pa Pa Ya Elevator Girl Shanti Shanti Da Da Dance (Avenger confusion) Which Avenger one sees can be confusing for those new to Babymetal. For the Music Videos, Pa Pa Ya, Elevator Girl, and Shanti Shanti Shanti, it is Kano Fujihara, who was just 14 years old at the time. Da Da Dance is a compilation of Momoko and Riho and a splicing of 2 different shows. In most fan cam videos of the American and European tour it would be either Riho or Momoko, as they toured with Babymetal in 2019. Kano had responsibilities with Sakura Gakuin as its president, a position Suzuka and Moa both held in Sakura Gakuin, and she’s never flown on a plane before. Some fans for 2019 did throw a stupid temper tantrum over the use of new Kami Band members who are from the west now known as the West Coast Kami Band, but like how the girls won over many, so did they and the payoff with the Legend Metal Galaxy concert was well worth it. COVID Era COIVD-19 has messed up a lot of things for everyone, Babymetal had to cancel their Asian tour, as well their big 10th Anniversary on October 10, 2020. Forced to keep it rather tame something very unlike Babymetal as even in their failures like the entire 2018 tour they do it septically. The question for many fans is what of the Avengers, since COVID, Avenger Riho Sayashi has signed with a new agency and has move on to other projects, including starting a fan club, which appears to rule her out of ever being an Avenger again. Kano Fujihara has graduated from Sakura Gakuin on August 30, 2020, a near 4 month delay. However, she and fellow Sakura Gakuin graduates Soyoka Yoshida, Tsugumi Aritomo, and Momoe Mori in the formation of @onefive. Which leaves Momoko Okazaki as last standing Avenger with no new commitments. However, Kano was technically in Sakura Gakuin, @onefive, and Babymetal all at the same time for almost a year so it is possible she will still be an Avenger. Music Videos of this Era BxMxC (First music video that isn’t footage from a show featuring Su and Moa since Karate in 2015)
LVT was almost right with the age. Su was 13 (born Dec 1997) when they filmed the music video to Doki Doki Morning. Moa & Yui were 11 (born in July and June 1999 respectively). Babymetal started out as "juon-bu", or "heavy music club" of school themed J-Pop idol group Sakura Gakuin. Su was a founding member of SG in April 2010, Moa & Yui officially joined a few months later in August 2010. Babymetal was formed, I think, in October 2010. They had their first performance as Babymetal in November 2010 in front of ~150 people at the first Sakura Gakuin Festival concert. The whole concept of Babymetal was the idea of Key Kobayashi aka Kobametal (he's still their manager/producer to this day) who is a life long metalhead. He worked in the kids division of AMUSE, the agency/label Sakura Gakuin and Babymetal is a part of, as a manager assigned to SG. But the idea to form a metal group around Su was so ludicrous, because metal was all but dead at that time in Japan since the disbandment of X Japan in 1997, they didn't even get enough budget to buy clothes/costumes for this music video and their first live performances. They had to borrow them from other Sakura Gakuin members and staff. They also didn't have enough budget for a "full show" live band until 2014. The Kami Band only played encores in 2012 and 2013. The rest of the shows in these two years was Su's live vocals backed by music from tape with the Babybones miming to playing instruments. But to this day the Kami Band is their live band only. You'll never see members in music videos without live footage and they also don't record their albums (except for guitarist Leda Cygnus who recorded guitar and bass on 5 or 6 songs). There's a lot of history and backstory about Babymetal which would be way too long of a comment (even the comment from Jason is just a small overview), this was only how they were formed and had to work their butts off to get the budget necessary to play real live shows with a real band.
@@thunderstruck5484 it's hard to find a good version of it on YT. It's one that took a couple listens to grow on me, but it's up there near the top of favorites now.
In 2010, the girls were shown photos of the metal sign, the devil horns, but their little hands kept making that sign that looks like a fox (kitsune) so Koba, the guy who had this brilliant idea of putting heavy metal music and idol pop vocals together, decided to go with it and turned it into this lore about the Fox God, yes they have an epic lore about themselves and light and dark and it’s all amazing. So not only did BABYMETAL birth a new genre of metal (Kawaii Metal) cute metal, which is the reason for the name BABYMETAL, they also gave us the Fox Horns or Kitsune sign along with the greatest damn stages and live concerts ever seen in metal and so much more. And I believe MTV VMA Japan just voted BABYMETAL - METAL GALAXY as the best album of the year.
I believe they also made comments about how it kind of looked like a fox (as there are A LOT of foxes in Japan, thus their importance in the culture), which is what helped him think it up.
It does not sound like it turned out to be such a "brilliant" concept and more like a gimmick. Why do I say this. The proof is in the lack of any attempts by producers to really duplicate the formula used in 2010. There are some acts that have some elements of this act but all pale imitations. I don't really think "kawaii metal" is actually growing and it's more likely to fade. I also doubt that these women are going to want to go on these big tours for a long time. They are closer to their end than their beginning.
Yep.. this is where it all started.. well, almost. BABYMETAL started out as a "heavy metal club" from the idol group Sakura Gakuin. This song was the first video the girls put out, while they were still part of that idol group. You'll notice the lack of a real "band" here, as the "band" in the back are simply miming/syncing the performance of the group. They are called "Babybones", or the "Kami Ghost Band" (in contrast to the Kami God Band, who are the band you've seen playing live). BabyBones/Kami Ghost Band are the same people you see in their video for Gimme Chocolate. Now.. go back and rewatch your reaction to Babymetal DEATH. That was Su-Metal's 16th birthday celebration - the point where she also graduated out of Sakura Gakuin, where she also was crucified to be reborn as the metal queen she is today. Finally, you should react to Tales of the Destinies. This normally is coupled with The One, as they both were the same song that was split into two. Be sure to do a LOT OF TALKING before you react to this one, and if you need to, frequent pauses, as this one does tend to get checked. It isn't even on YT because of how close it is. Someone uploaded it to vimeo, so you could at least react to it. You'll enjoy it, but like I said, be sure to pause a lot and talk a lot before you start the reaction. Link is here: vimeo.com/423380869
You just witnessed the birth of babymetal. Before the band started to get traction they used session musicians dressed in the skeleton suits called babybones, later when they started to tour they were joined by the musicians "Kami Band " and dressed in traditional Japanese burial gowns.Really enjoying your reactions by the way.
2020 (November 28) is the 10th Anniversary of #BABYMETAL's first live performance at the Sakura Gakuin Festival 2010 where they played Doki Doki ☆ Morning This is actually the 2nd performance of the day. BABYMETAL debut on stage 2010-11-28 Sakura Gakuin Festival ☆ 2010 at Yokohama Red Brick Warehouse. For something the critics said would only last a couple of years, they are still going strong after a tough 2018. I for ONE am proud of them and look foreword to 2021 and all the joy that they bring......SEE YU
There's no way you can watch this without smiling. They are just so cute. If you are obsessed, you're probably gonna end up reacting to some Sakura Gakuin stuff. If you do so, I suggest 'My Graduation Toss' and 'FRIENDS'. Both are great songs, and I love seeing their M/V, because you can tell how much they care for each other, like they were part of a big family. Great reaction guys! 🦊🖤
Hahaha, I forgot I recommended this. There is a short video of their first ever live appearance as BABYMETAL performing Doki Doki without a band. Let me see if I can find it. Here you go. ua-cam.com/video/C-r4bajuu9Y/v-deo.html White T-shirt guy rocking out in the front row is legendery in the BM community. At the start of the song you can see little Moa (I think it's her) on the left of screen going off a bit prematurely. So cute.
Want to go all the way back? Su has been under Amuse Talent contracts, recording and live appearances since she was 10. She sang in the Karen Girls, a super popular group that provided the theme for the TV show. Here is the link, you'll see young Su with that group. This song, Over the Future was a monster hit and the same song Yui and Moa sang as a duo to join the Idol school. BABYMETAL does this song too. ua-cam.com/video/otn2UB-Q7Pw/v-deo.html
The guys in the skeleton suits are called Babybones, and they don't really play instruments. When Babymetal started out, they weren't well funded contrary to popular myth. The girls wore clothes borrowed from student and teachers for costimes, even here the skeleton suits were black Kabuki skinsuits with white tape. It would be almost two years before they were given costumes. Also they could only perform on weekends and holidays as their parents had them in normal school; they could only perform when school was off. So there wasn't money to pay for musicians on such a haphazard schedule. When they were asked to open for the Red Hot Chili Peppers for a tour they had to ask for a delay so the girls could take exams. As they got older, things evolved, but at the start they just didn't have the means. This song though starts them off in a strong direction. It starts out with a cutesy Idol opening and goes right into heavy riffage. The girls verse sings about getting ready for school, and slips into aspirations - places I have never been to I want to see, I want to go to a 4 dimension, 5 dimension world. That aspiratyional aspect is something they return to often in their songs. As is the breaking of norms Babymetal was a sub unit of Sakura Gakuin, which means Cherry Blossom Academy. A girl group of 5-9th graders. They have a theme of a school, and they have clubs like a school does - Cooking Club, Science Club, Tennis Club. Something common in Japan are K-Ons!, short for Light Music Clubs. You can find these from elementary up through university. Babymetal was a J-On!, Juonbu, or Heavy Music Club, a counter culture version of a K-On! They were rebels from the start.
Yeah, this is first song of BABYMETAL . I can say that's literally "BABYMETAL" when they are look so adorable and very young . Su 14 , yui and moa 12 if i not wrong . You must check BABYMETAL - Uki Uki Midnight live budokan for more fun 😁
*BabyMetal* was originally created as a Sub-Unit of a school-themed female idol group named *Sakura Gakuin. They have more than 10 albums, normally they release 1 new album every year when some of their members graduate from *Sakura Gakuin.* Like *BabyMetal, Sakura Gakuin* performs live and uniquely choreographed for each song. I also listen to *Sakura Gakuin* since 2015 day after day ... Each song is unique and different, to say that the songs of the sub-unit called *MiniPatii,* (which by the way, were presented by Yui and Moa) their instrumental it is 8 bit sounds! Babymetal originally started as a sub-unit group from a Japanese j-pop idol group called Sakura Gakuin. Babymetal were the "Heavy Club". It was an experimental music where they combined trending J-pop music with Heavy Metal from the west. The producer, Koba Metal first started the idea of Babymetal by watching their lead singer, Suzuka Nakamoto performing in Sakura Gakuin, realizing that her vocals were not fully used to the max. So basically, the entire band from the other two girls and the metal band behind them were built around her. Babymetal has their own symbol which is the Fox God. Rather than usual metal "devil horns" like most metal bands, Babymetal uses the symbol of the Fox God, shaping like a head of a Fox. The guys with white robes and long hair didnt come officially until late 2013. They are called The Kami Band which translates to "The Band Of Gods". And yes, they lived up to their names as well because each member of the Kamis are one of the most skilled musicians in Japan or not, the whole world. Providing the metal legitimacy to Babymetal as a whole. Combining both the girls and the Kami Band, there you have it. Babymetal. The first of its kind. Did I mention they also literally created a new sub-genre for metal? Kawaii Metal. That's a huge feat because a lot of other bands starts popping with the same theme and genre. They've been around for 10 years and despite the backlashes from metal purists saying that these girls are not metal enough? They just keep doing what they love, getting all the respect and the achievement they deserved for the last ten years. Also, you need to react Bring Me The Horizon new EP. They got Babymetal featured in the song called "Kingslayer". Total headbanger for sure. 🔥🔥🔥🦊
"The producer, Koba Metal first started the idea of Babymetal by watching their lead singer, Suzuka Nakamoto performing in Sakura Gakuin" Just a detail, Koba got the idea when he saw Suzuka in Karen Girl's before SG, Babymetal was created at the same time as Sakura Gakuin ;-)
I remember when this first released it super polarised the metal community. So many butthurt arguments were had between the gatekeeping "this can't be metal" and " this is new and awesome"
Great reaction! Love your Babymetal videos... Please react to "Shine" at some point, if possible. It's not their heaviest song but probably their most beautiful. Thanks. Greetings from Germany...
I agree AWADAMA FEVER LIVE LEGEND OF 2015 This one is insane and the most KAWAII with one of their best choreography THIS SONG IS ABOUT A MINT FLAVORED GUM TIME MACHINE ALSO IF YOU DARE DO META TARO LIVE AT TOKYO DOME THIS ONE IS ABOUT JAPANESE POP CULTURE AND ALSO TRADITIONS AS IT IS A HOMAGE TO ULTRA MAN AND HIGH SCHOOL BASEBALL CHAMPIONSHIP THAT IS PLAY EVERY YEAR AT TOKYO DOME HOPE YOU WOULD THANKS
I don't know that any of the BabyBones (the skeletons) are actual musicians. The KamiBand came later. This was a great reaction and I want to thank you for doing something other than Kingslayer. It's a great song but everyone is reacting to it right now.
FYI: When Doki Doki Morning was _recorded,_ Su was 12 (just a few weeks from 13), and Yui & Moa were 11. This video was shot a year later, in 2011. Su was 13 (almost 14) and Yui & Moa were indeed 12. Yui & Moa look even younger than that because they were both late-bloomers. They still don't look like they're in their 20s, but they are. Also the Babybones (skeletons) were just people who worked in the office who were taught the dance _by_ Su/Yui/Moa.
fun fact: the girls actually invented the fox sign and then came the fox god lore. when they first saw the devil sign, they thought it was the fox hand (like shadow puppet).
Nice reaction!! In the lower right corner of the video, you'll see the word "重音部(juuonbu)" in red letters. The literal translation is "Heavy Music Club". These are the names of the clubs they belonged to when they were at さくら学院(Sakura Gakuin). "さくら学院(Sakura Gakuin)" is a growing up-only unit that focuses on school life and club activities. BABYMETAL was born out of the club's "重音部(juuonbu)", which is a derivative of "さくら学院(Sakura Gakuin)". Therefore, the girls in this video with the word "重音部(juuonbu)" on it are young! "重音部(juuonbu)"'s activity is 2010-2012, so SUMETAL(vocal&dance) is 13-15 and YUI(scream&dance) & MOA(scream&dance) is 11-13. Doki Doki morning is the very first song. Here's another one. - making of doki doki morning ua-cam.com/video/9bB5EFrbydw/v-deo.html - BABYMETAL debut on stage 2010-11-28 ua-cam.com/video/rLVImnMnxc0/v-deo.html - BABYMETAL - "Doki Doki Morning" in TOKYO IDOL FESTIVAL 2011 Performed 28/08/11 ua-cam.com/video/V0dOATO3CaM/v-deo.html As you may have noticed, SU started out with twintails and YUI & MOA with ponytails.(Now it's the opposite) The next step in the Mornings is Midnight, so Uki Uki Midnight is next, please. I hope you continue to enjoy your BABYMETAL. Put your Kitsune🦊 up! from Japan. (Translation by DeepL)
Good evening ^ _ ^ BABYMETAL😍 It's the best! Last year, I participated in the Kouhaku Uta Gassen for the first time on a Japanese song program, and it was exciting! The children danced my heart-pounding morning so hard, so I hope you'll see it 😭😭🙏 Thank you 🤲
You guys are hooked.. the kami band was on their first tour.. the guys in the makeup.. those skeleton dudes were not players.. they used a music track with them.. you can't play a guitar with skeleton gloves on ..
The Kami Band is made up of some of the best metal players in Japan. Bo is the bass player and he’s insane. If you remember the movie “The Grudge” then you’ll understand the bands look. Their image is a traditional Japanese ghost look. Dragon force has written a couple of their songs as well.
I think LVT would melt on the spot from cuteness if they reacted to Sakura Gakuien - Song for Smiling, a song the babymetal girls were part of even before this first Babymetal single. It's even cuter than this.
btw for the official music videos INCLUDING This there is also a commentary from the three girls for the videos on youtube xD so you can basicly watch the song and have the 3 girls talk about it xD super cute and intresting :)
There is an unofficial UA-cam video titled "the unhelpful guide to babymetal" that'll give you a lot of answers to any questions you have of the growth of the band from before the beginning to about 2019, I think. It's honestly extremely helpful and also helps you with finding out some of their biggest shows.
If you haven't Rondo of nightmare with the mischief of God's intro. it's a Sue Metal Solo but you get a chance to see how good each of the guitarists and drummer are. They each get a chance to have their little spot before the Sue starts singing
The guys in the gowns and white make up = KAMI Band. The most Bad Ass Group of Musicians you may ever hear. They are the Key too why BM became World wide. Mikio Fujioka.Ohmura,ISAO and Leda were the 4 heavily rotated duo guitarists in those 2014-2018 live vids. The backing band is The Key too BM imo. However no denying how Great the trio of girls was as well. Heres a sample of The Kami band without the girls for reference. ua-cam.com/video/1AfZH_xdIXE/v-deo.html
@@osierpe Koba literally designed and continues to architect everything this band does. He writes the music, he is responsible for the training of the girls, and the lineup of the Kami-band. Lol Koba literally deserves all the credit. With that said, there's no one single element to Babymetal that makes it better than the other. It all comes together to form what it is. If you HAD to pick one single thing, you'd have to pick Su-metal. The entire band was made to complement her
The key here is the lore, especially when it comes to the band. With the band being Kami, and the Kamis being chosen by the Fox God, that means that any person could be a Kami, whether you know it or not. The person walking down the opposite of the street from you could be Kami, and you'd never know. That's why anyone who has played with Babymetal is considered Kami. Chad Hamilton, Metallica, Herman Li, Sam Totman, Rob Halford, some of the guys from Galactic Empire, Joakin from Sabaton, the guys from Polyphia.. all of them are Kami. Since that part of the lore is so fluid, you're always given a chance to have a case of the unexpected, and that's what is different from every other band in the world. Same applies for the Chosen 7 as well as the Avengers.
I know people gonna recommend more mv's and live shows but i wanna suggest a different babymetal. Babymetal - tales of the destinies. It is so hard to perform live, for both the band and the girls, that it was only performed once and it was with mistakes. So please react to it. Thanks!
Watching LVT freaking out about how tiny & cute they were was a blast. But seeing Durty D being proud like a bigger brother was heartwarming and a lot of joy. 🦊🤘 You definitely fall into the foxhole :D
Thanks for the great reaction as always. Syncopation / BABYMETAL ua-cam.com/video/uZ11JUZM8V0/v-deo.html Here is their compilaton video from 2016-17 right before Yuimetal (one of the 2 "tiny" dancing/screaming members along with Moametal around the lead singer Su-metal) had to leve the band because of health issue, since then the original 3 has become 2 (Su and Moa) plus 1-3 supporting dancer(s) to off set the loss. The original 2 members seem not to be going to find a new official dancer/scremer to replace Yui.
If the Lady would like to see another Vid of them young ,try this one It's the MV BABYMETAL - イジメ、ダメ、ゼッタイ - Ijime,Dame,Zettai (OFFICIAL) ua-cam.com/video/nDqaTXqCN-Q/v-deo.html I have no idea if YT will/would block it...Or maybe try.. "Onedari Daisakusen"..Just search for the title ..There a quite a few vids out there...It's about daughters using cuteness to get Dad to buy them things..And as a father of two girls ,grand father to five grand duaghters, yep no boys.. (I am sooo out numbered..😖 ....🙃 ) I can relate to it all too well...
Great reaction! Queen SU-METAL was 13 (almost 14) when this song was released and the younger two were 12.... AWADAMA FEVER is another great one you should consider reacting to. ua-cam.com/video/5mbx2TTAX04/v-deo.html
I always love watching their old videos. Especially before they had their dedicated band locked down, it’s just cool thinking about this one dudes dream of an idol metal fusion band and just throwing together whatever he can to get the proof of concept down is awesome.
The Nendo Tests are amazing. I want to see them react to the girls on that tv show playing "What's in the Box?" with the subtitles, of course. I think they'd laugh their asses off.
Another nice reaction guys! Btw, did you see the hidden dancing skeletons from 4:21 - 4:55 ? It seems that you missed them. But don't worry, almost everyone misses them when they're first watching the video and just noticed them when its pointed out. So now, how about you react to the newly released song of BMTH ft. BABYMETAL which is "Kingslayer"? Trust me, that will really blow your mind. More power to you! Stay metal!
IN Japanese Doki Doki is mimicking the sound of a beating heart and loosely translated means "heart pounding" so the song is called "heart Pounding morning" it's a song about waking up in the morning getting ready for school.
I hope you don't take offense in this, but I like how their cuteness and tinyness (is that a word?) made you become all girly. :-) I can't blame you, it does the same to me, and I'm a guy. :-) Their cuteness is on another level.
OK, I just watched through your BM reactions, and I'm kind of a fan of LVT now, just from watching you react and talk about stuff. I guess I should start actually checking out your music now...
I think this is my favourite Doki Doki Morning reaction. The cuteness overload is pretty overwhelming in this one. I've successfully stayed away from the Sakura Gakuin stuff, but I think it's inevitable that I'll start checking it out one day. If you want to see the Kamiband regulars playing out of costume, they have an annual concert they do together called the Gathering of Metal Warriors. There's not much on UA-cam, but there is this band solo that's pretty damn awesome ua-cam.com/video/1AfZH_xdIXE/v-deo.html
"I've successfully stayed away from the Sakura Gakuin stuff" yeah so I thought, just because I don't like pop music, but then I found that there is pop music and Sakura Gakuin J-pop, two different worlds xD
They were 11 and *technically* 12 when starting out. Su's birthday is in December so she hadn't turned 13 yet but on paper its 2 years between them. She might have turned 13 when recording this video tho, not 100% sure.
Going more backyard? Well I guess you have to dive into SAkura Gakuin stuff.... Warning you are getting out of the metal scene there, but that's where are the true origins of BABYMETAL. In fact BABYMETAL was first a subunit of Sakura Gakuin, wich is a Japanese show (currently still running) who aim to reveal and grow young ladies talents. Try this if you dare (lol) ! ua-cam.com/video/OS190K_H69Q/v-deo.html Will you be able to spot Yui, Moa and Su ( the three members of BM ) ?
Two things, that has to be the most macabre "child's room" ever, and secondly, for the most in depth info on BABYMETAL, go to r/Babymetal... it's all there....
⚡ 💀 💕 / 💓 ⏰
In Japanese, "Doki Doki" represents the sound of an excited heartbeat.
Even with a shoestring budget this video is the one that blew up on social media.
This song is still a huge hit with fans when they play it live. It reminds us how far they've come since 2010.
And of course it's adorable. And brutal. Then adorable again.
Badump to be precise.
They are so cuteee, especially Yui-Metal, her chubby cheeks uwu 😘😘😘
BABYMETAL 101
Founded 2010 and produced by Key “Koba” Kobayashi from the Amuse Inc. talent agency.
Heavy Music Club Era (2010-2012)
From 2010 to 2012 Babymetal consist of a three-member formation, Suzuka Nakamoto (Age 12), Moa Kikuchi (Age 10), and Yui Mizuno aka Yui-Metal (Age 10).

Babymetal Era (2012-2017)
Starting in 2012 with the Legend I concert, Babymetal began its slow divorce from Sakura Gakuin, and was the first introduction of the Kami Band as well as the “Lore” that is still heavily involved in Babymetal but makes far less sense than it did during this time.

The Dark Times, The Chosen 7 Era
In December 2017, Yui would miss the Legend-S concert for health reasons, these health problems would prosiest into 2018 and greatly affect the 2018 touring season bring the “Chosen 7” formation, consisting of Suzuka Nakamoto, Moa Kikuchi, and 2 backing dancers Minako Maruyama, and Minami Tsukui.
(Something many idiots within the fandom refuse or are too stupid to understand)
In October Babymetal had a concert called Dark Night Carnival which added dancers, Shoko Akiyama, Saya Hirai, and Kotono, placing a total of seven girls on stage. This was also done without warning to fans and was an absolute mess. Babymetal would finish off the 2018 tour season returning to the 3-member formation with just Saya Hirai joining them in southeast Asia and Australia. Ending one of the most troubling times in Babymetal’s history.

Metal Galaxy Era
The current set up was first introduced in 2019 during the Babymetal Arises concert in Yokohama, before the start, the “Avenger” support dancer concept was explained in the lore, and the concept thanks to communication and a maintaining of the 3 member formation brought Babymetal out of dark times brought about during 2018. Babymetal seemed to have returned to its roots with the Avengers, as 2 of the three (Kano and Momoko) come from Sakura Gakuin. The third Riho, went to the same performing arts school as Suzuka during the same time, Actors School Hiroshima aka ASH.

(Avenger confusion)
Which Avenger one sees can be confusing for those new to Babymetal.
COVID Era
COIVD-19 has messed up a lot of things for everyone, Babymetal had to cancel their Asian tour, as well their big 10th Anniversary on October 10, 2020.

Anything else? 😅 That's a big/great comment/info! Thanks!!
Puuh!🤪
That might be the best recap of Babymetal's history that I've ever seen in one place. Well done!
You're the best.
Great info. Thank you
LVT was almost right with the age.
Please do Awadama fever live next or Tales of Destinies both are super awesome.
Live Legend 2015 at SSA is best .
@@ihwan1911 I just watched that show last night. Might watch one of the 5 Fox Fests tonight. I've seen Red and White so far.
Awadama often overlooked but it is one of my favorites!

@@jamesmcclung153 that mid song riff is pretty cool and yes it’s odd it is hard to find great vid
Dude, Saw Baby Metal at Carolina Rebelion and they fucking DESTROYED!!! SO GOOD
In 2010, the girls were shown photos of the metal sign, the devil horns, but their little hands kept making that sign that looks like a fox (kitsune) so Koba, the guy who had this brilliant idea of putting heavy metal music and idol pop vocals together, decided to go with it and turned it into this lore about the Fox God, yes they have an epic lore about themselves and light and dark and it’s all amazing.
Kitsune is no joke. They did not create Kitsune. That would be like saying some modern band created Santa.
If youre interested in their Backstory and stuff you should probably watch the unhelpful Guide to babymetal by rnegitsune
You just witnessed the birth of babymetal. Before the band started to get traction they used session musicians dressed in the skeleton suits called babybones,
later when they started to tour they were joined by the musicians "Kami Band " and dressed in traditional Japanese burial gowns.Really enjoying your reactions by the way.
The Kami Band are the session musicians. Babybones are actors :)
2020 (November 28) is the 10th Anniversary of #BABYMETAL's first live performance at the Sakura Gakuin Festival 2010 where they played Doki Doki ☆ Morning This is actually the 2nd performance of the day.
Here you go. ua-cam.com/video/C-r4bajuu9Y/v-deo.html
White T-shirt guy rocking out in the front row is legendery in the BM community.
As is the breaking of norms
Babymetal was a sub unit of Sakura Gakuin, which means Cherry Blossom Academy.

*- Science Club Kagaku Kyumei Kiko LOGICA?*

The sub-unit *Heavy Music Club BabyMetal* attracted a lot of everyone's attention with their first song and video *Doki Doki Morning,* they did not waste the situation and continued with the theme until *BabyMetal* became independent of *Sakura Gakuin.* They gained international fame with the song *Gimme Chokko !!*
*Sakura Gakuin* has 12 members who some graduated each year and new members are received for a total of 12. *Sakura Gakuin* began in 2010 and continues to this day.
Folks and this is why YUI-CHAN the TOMATO PRINCESS is missed so much!!!!!

I don't know that any of the BabyBones (the skeletons) are actual musicians. The KamiBand came later. This was a great reaction and I want to thank you for doing something other than Kingslayer. It's a great song but everyone is reacting to it right now.
They were not. They were hired actors to pantomime playing the instruments in videos and at shows for the first couple years.
They have all been together since they were kids up to this day and still going.
yuimetal left in 2018 due to health reasons sadly
Just wait until you see the 8 year old singer doing her early stuff. She already had some serious pipes on her.
“Ijime,Dame,Zettai”(“No Bullying Forever”)was their actual first single release in 2010.
You want a back story check out the video “an unhelpful guide to Babymetal “
thats why you need to react to unhelpull guide to babymetal to understand fully and the history of them lvt your look so great
しかし今聴いてもよく出来ているなぁと思う。
コレがデビュー曲だよね、コバメタルの才能が凄い。
fun fact: the girls actually invented the fox sign and then came the fox god lore. when they first saw the devil sign, they thought it was the fox hand (like shadow puppet).
Fun fact this was the first Babymetal song performed/produced

As you may have noticed, SU started out with twintails and YUI & MOA with ponytails.(Now it's the opposite)
The next step in the Mornings is Midnight, so Uki Uki Midnight is next, please.
I hope you continue to enjoy your BABYMETAL.
Put your Kitsune🦊 up!

The symbol baby metal use in this video is the fox spirit or kitsune
Good evening ^ _ ^
BABYMETAL😍 It's the best!
Last year, I participated in the Kouhaku Uta Gassen for the first time on a Japanese song program, and it was exciting!
The children danced my heart-pounding morning so hard, so I hope you'll see it 😭😭🙏
Thank you 🤲
Su has just turned 13yo literally just a few days ago and Moa and Yui are 11yo.
You guys are hooked.. the kami band was on their first tour.. the guys in the makeup.. those skeleton dudes were not players.. they used a music track with them.. you can't play a guitar with skeleton gloves on ..
I just love all of your Babymetal reactions, please keep´em coming. Greetings from a german Kitsune 🤘🏼🦊🤘🏼. And stay healty and metal you all.
BABYMETAL have collaborated with BMTH on Kingslayer, it came out a couple days ago and it’s flames 🔥 Check it out if you’re interested 😌
The one I wanted you to react too is Doki Doki Morning Rehearsal. Has a live performance of Doki Doki Morning + them rehearsing.
The Kami Band is made up of some of the best metal players in Japan. Bo is the bass player and he’s insane. If you remember the movie “The Grudge” then you’ll understand the bands look. Their image is a traditional Japanese ghost look. Dragon force has written a couple of their songs as well.
This was the first Babymetal video I ever saw. It was about 2-3 weeks after it came out. I've been a fan ever since.
1:45 LVT feeling the cuteness overload
LVT reacted exactly how all of us reacted when we first saw this. "THEY'RE SOOOO CUUUUUTE!!!!"
Haha! When you start watching BABYMETAL's early stuff that means you’re already living in the Foxhole! Great job! See you soon! 🤘🦊🤘
You should see the live version!! The crowd interaction is insane!!!
I think LVT would melt on the spot from cuteness if they reacted to Sakura Gakuien - Song for Smiling, a song the babymetal girls were part of even before this first Babymetal single. It's even cuter than this.
The song is about a crazy morning getting ready for school.
you HAVE to listen to sis anger! it’s their heaviest song in their discography and my favorite :)
btw for the official music videos INCLUDING This there is also a commentary from the three girls for the videos on youtube xD so you can basicly watch the song and have the 3 girls talk about it xD super cute and intresting :)
Heres a sample of The Kami band without the girls for reference. ua-cam.com/video/1AfZH_xdIXE/v-deo.html
well Kami Band is not " The Key " why Babymetal got this big but Kami Band is " one of " many reasons why they got big.
Yeah the whole of Babymetal is the winning formula not one thing. If anyone deserves total credit it's Koba
The KEY are the three girls...Kami Band (we love too) just a support band for the live concert. Another key could be Kobametal (maybe)....
The beginning! Start digging the Fox hole... 😁🦊❤
I know people gonna recommend more mv's and live shows but i wanna suggest a different babymetal. Babymetal - tales of the destinies. It is so hard to perform live, for both the band and the girls, that it was only performed once and it was with mistakes. So please react to it. Thanks!
If it can even be found AND doesn't get blocked, I would love to see them react to it!
It just shows that they are humans after all.. ;-)
I’ve seen a few react to the audio track. ua-cam.com/video/w6dXuBUrS7k/v-deo.html
Watching LVT freaking out about how tiny & cute they were was a blast.
But seeing Durty D being proud like a bigger brother was heartwarming and a lot of joy. 🦊🤘 You definitely fall into the foxhole :D
Thanks Su Moa Yui &kami Band !天国へ旅立ったギタリストの藤岡幹大さん~Mikio Fujioka ~ありがとう!そしてYui chan いつまでもお身体を大切に!
well... watch their video when they were still in sakura gakuin.. still younger than this.. lol
Thanks for the great reaction as always.
Syncopation / BABYMETAL
ua-cam.com/video/uZ11JUZM8V0/v-deo.html
Here is their compilaton video from 2016-17 right before Yuimetal (one of the 2 "tiny" dancing/screaming members along with Moametal around the lead singer Su-metal) had to leve the band because of health issue, since then the original 3 has become 2 (Su and Moa) plus 1-3 supporting dancer(s) to off set the loss. The original 2 members seem not to be going to find a new official dancer/scremer to replace Yui.
If the Lady would like to see another Vid of them young ,try this one It's the MV
BABYMETAL - イジメ、ダメ、ゼッタイ - Ijime,Dame,Zettai (OFFICIAL)
ua-cam.com/video/nDqaTXqCN-Q/v-deo.html
I have no idea if YT will/would block it...Or maybe try..
YES ! " Imananji " this song is set to go off with my alarm,
I'm a 45 yr old og gangster and I Love BABYMETAL
"They're so tinyyyyy" Honestly was my first reaction was well. Loved babymetal from when they came out til present time
Great reaction! Queen SU-METAL was 13 (almost 14) when this song was released and the younger two were 12.... AWADAMA FEVER is another great one you should consider reacting to. ua-cam.com/video/5mbx2TTAX04/v-deo.html
Go from this song to their newly released feature Kingslayer with Bring me the Horizon. Released a couple days ago
I always love watching their old videos. Especially before they had their dedicated band locked down, it’s just cool thinking about this one dudes dream of an idol metal fusion band and just throwing together whatever he can to get the proof of concept down is awesome.
Who ever thinks cuteness and metal doesn't combine, babymetal just kicks open that door and says "here we are"
Great reaction as always - only one thing to say, you need to see this one live in Japan - more up to date - will be great comparison wise!
Excellent and funny reaction, really enjoyed your openness to babymetal!
Someone please make LVT watch the commentary for this video she will love it!!
Fun Fact: the outfits the girls wore in this video are now in the Sakura Gakuin museum
after this back 2020 REACT BMTH X BABYMETAL = KINGSALYAAAA!!!!!!
Fair warning... All BABYMETAL roads lead to Sakura Gakuin.
The Nendo Tests are amazing. I want to see them react to the girls on that tv show playing "What's in the Box?" with the subtitles, of course. I think they'd laugh their asses off.
@@mr.osclasses5054 The girls also did commentary videos for this song and a few others that are also well worth looking at as well.
@@Scioneer Oh, I'm aware! If I started typing about everything, I would have had a novel in like 20 minutes, so I had to control myself...this time.
Stay metal!
二人のリアクションで幸せになれる💃💓
I still like this song the best
IN Japanese Doki Doki is mimicking the sound of a beating heart and loosely translated means "heart pounding" so the song is called "heart Pounding morning"
it's a song about waking up in the morning getting ready for school.
"They're so adorable" 🥰🥰❤️🤟
BABYMETAL GOOD 한국인보다 최고예요 🇯🇵🇯🇵🇯🇵❤❤❤👍👍👍
I hope you don't take offense in this, but I like how their cuteness and tinyness (is that a word?) made you become all girly. :-) I can't blame you, it does the same to me, and I'm a guy. :-) Their cuteness is on another level.
Suzuka was barely 14 when this video was released.
Yui and Moa were 12 or 13.
OK, I just watched through your BM reactions, and I'm kind of a fan of LVT now, just from watching you react and talk about stuff.
I guess I should start actually checking out your music now...
We would defiantly appreciate it! Thank you! 😊

Doki Doki Morning, Kawaii Metal proof of concept: success
React to unhelpful guide to Babymetal
other songs to check out akatsuki, oneduri daisakusen, 4 na uta, sis anger, gj, and yava, choco love
A good way to make us feel old, watch reactions to videos like this or some of their first Sakura Gakuin episodes 😁 Enjoyed the reaction
They were 11 and *technically* 12 when starting out.
Su's birthday is in December so she hadn't turned 13 yet but on paper its 2 years between them.
She might have turned 13 when recording this video tho, not 100% sure.
Hi guys....can you tell me very first Babymetal video you reacted to please.
Go back!!!!! Go all the way back to "Sakura Gakuin 2012 Nendo Surprise Appreciation Party for Suzuka Nakamoto"!!!!!!!
The song literally sing on 2010 at SG warehouse if I'm not wrong..kitsune up..
Yep, the very first SG Fest, November 28th 2010 at Yokohama Red Brick
Going more backyard? Well I guess you have to dive into SAkura Gakuin stuff.... Warning you are getting out of the metal scene there, but that's where are the true origins of BABYMETAL. In fact BABYMETAL was first a subunit of Sakura Gakuin, wich is a Japanese show (currently still running) who aim to reveal and grow young ladies talents. Try this if you dare (lol) ! ua-cam.com/video/OS190K_H69Q/v-deo.html
Will you be able to spot Yui, Moa and Su ( the three members of BM ) ?
Two things, that has to be the most macabre "child's room" ever, and secondly, for the most in depth info on BABYMETAL, go to r/Babymetal... it's all there....
Your reaction was the same as mine when my daughter introduced this old metal head to Babymetal nuts right
I feel like an old dad watching home movies of his 3 little girls. 😔 right in the feels. 🤘🦊🤘
> "I'm officially obsessed with them!"
That's my life for the last three and a half years!
Great reaction guys love your reaction 🦊🤘🤘🦊
