This channel is focused on Bones, Hormones, and Healthspan to help midlife women and beyond aim for optimal, not average, and reignite their spark!
The videos on this channel will be focused around helping women navigate healthspan and longevity through the lens of osteoporosis, perimenopause, and menopause. When it comes to osteoporosis and menopause providers and educators often get tunnel vision and your symptoms might get better, but if you don't keep longevity in mind, symptom improvement may come at the expense of heart and brain health.

I do between 55 and 60 degrees for 10 to 20 minutes. I use an Icey Tek ice chest for up to the neck sitting. This kind of ice chest is usually used for boats to keep large fish catches. I don't have a space for an electric set up. I dedicated one small freezer to keep gallon jugs frozen for rotation. I only do this in the summer here in Texas.

I swim at a club where they keep the water around 80F but it's usually more like 78F for 40 to 60 minutes. I'm happy to hear about the benefits. I still think the benefits are worth the muscle lose since I have health issues related to those types of benefits. Thanks for weeding through the studies so I don't have too.

Excellent overview, well presented! I do pretty much what you do for the same benefits, but I am at 50 +/- 2 degrees most days for 3-4 min. So calming when I'm in it, then I feel great and energized after! It's the only way I can do exercise in the am, really -- I've always felt weak in the am. My only concern is that I seem to have long Covid, so worry a bit about too much stress. If not for this, many days I would get NO exercise in, and I don't seem any better later in the day if I skip the cold, so seems okay to do. I hold off if I feel possibly sick or my am HRV is low, but otherwise I think it's a big part of what helps me feel better! I am so lucky to have an unheated part of my house to do this on the cheap in winter, and I use a non-functioning chest freezer in summer. Been doing it for a few years now, well before I got Covid. 😕 My inflammatory markers have remained low and I still fight off colds easily throughout. Go figure!

I do have a cold shower right before I go swimming so the pool water feels warm to me.

Wouldn't recommend this for those who have Raynaud's Syndrome ( ido suffer from this). Florida born and raised, don't like cold temps, especially AC cold. It can be 72 outside and feels great but indoors like offices, stores, ect, 72 is freezing to me. I do heavy yard work when it's in the high 90s. I actually feel good afterwards, relax very well and sleep good.

See my post above. Chronic fatigue is my main long Covid issue. I don't think it affects my overall trend with it either way, but it helps me feel fairly well for a few hours at least. Might be a part of why my inflammatory markers are low, but I also eat no seed oils and eat low carb of the best quality meats and veg, minimally processed if at all. And I sauna nearly every evening. I wish I had a clone to compare doing vs not doing these things, but I have not felt like skipping the cold was better.
