      It is an excellent shawarma. Highly recommend ordering foul (sometimes spelled ful) mudammas whenever you see it on a menu

      It really is - olive oil with lighter ingredients, focusing on fragrant herbs and spices. Makes sense with the climates and location.

    Oooooo this is so cool seeing Daniel and Naz here too! This food looked absolutely amazing the fried whole anchovy dusted in spice looked super amazing. All that sea food just insane. Egyptian baby octopus stew would love to try... if we go NYC heading there for sure looks insane!

    Been to Steinway St one time with a friend from Astoria, but never vlog it, the food looks amazing, but I don't think I would finish eating all that food, I laughed hard at the bloopers at the end lol.

    Astoria really seems like an up and coming neighborhood in NY! Love the diversity and atmostphere you guys captured in this video (oh and hi Daniel and Naz!). I am glad I am watching this over lunch right now lol It would have been torturing hahaha. Those cumin covered scallops...look so bomb and that baby octopus stew? man.... that almost looks like Korean food lol. What's interesting about Duzan(?) is the bread looks like it's wheat base? I haven't tried hookah since college. I miss those days. Funny bloopers at the end loll

      Astoria is a great neighborhood! I (Greg) spent the first half of my life there. The diversity is what makes Queens such a special place. Haha good thing you ate. The tajine (stew) is so rich and flavorful- can see why you compared it to Korean food. Glad you enjoyed the bloopers haha

    I don't think I've ever tried any of those countries' dishes before. Well actually, I tried Moroccan at Disney but not sure if that counts hahaha... everything looked amazing as always. So fun to have friends come along with you!

      Whoa you are missing out! It is actually made with eggplant instead of chickpeas, though it will also have tahini in it like hummus does. This was one of the best we’ve ever had!

      @@FoodandFootprints There are many good restaurants here in the Hampton/Newport News area ( SE Virginia ). But I can still remember from my preteen years living in NY ( Jamaica ) how many great family and ethnic delis and restaurants there were. I am very eager to get on Amtrak or the Chinese bus and get back up there as a food tourist.

      It is a great reason to come visit. So much incredible food to be had in Queens alone, many family-owned spots. You can travel the world without leaving the borough!

      Last week, I was talking to the Egyptian guy who works at the pet store in my hood about the best Egyptian restaurant. So, this is timely. He recommended Sabry's which is next door to Abuqir.
