About 10 years ago I had the privilege of hanging out with Maury Mulheisens Mom....(Jims sidekick at all his concerts) The family lived in the same town I worked in. She brought me into her house and took me into the family room. One of the walls was completely covered with Maury's Gold Records for all of Jims albums. She told me she heard of her son's passing and Jims the next morning after the crash from one of her neighbors. They had seen the TODAY show on TV that morning who broke the news and the neighbor called thinking that she had already heard about it.....she didnt. Imagine learning of your Sons death from a neighbor who saw it on TV??? Mind Boggling.

Another great folk rock singer songwriter who we lost so young. This is the music I grew up with. Unique storyteller & ballad singer. He touches your soul. He had a lot of great hits in his short career. "Photographs & Memories", "Time In A Bottle", "Operator", "I Got A Name", "Workin' At The Car Wash Blues," "I'll Have To Say I Love You In A Song", "Roller Derby Queen", "Lover's Cross" etc.
Jim Croce’s catalog is short but amazing. He has so many fun songs like this and also many serious and meaningful songs. A tragic life/career but a lasting impact.
Great song from a great song writer/story teller. Not sure if you got the whole story but basically Jim hustled Slim, Slim wanted his $ back and they fought over it. The part you seemed to have missed was that "Jim was cut in a hundred places, and shot in a couple more." The last 2 choruses end in "you don't mess around with Slim."
Same here. I caught that switch up from Jim to Slim. I think I saw a show on Jim's son as he is also a singer and only recently began covering his dad's songs.
It's hard to catch that the first time. *And he was cut in about a hundred places* *And he was shot in a couple more* *And you better believe* *They sung a different kind of story* *When big Jim hit the floor*
*Yeah, big Jim got his hat* *Find out where it's at* *And it's not hustlin' people strange to you* *Even if you do got a two piece custom made pool cue*
As many people have said "Time in a bottle" is great.. I'll always remember playing it on a jukebox many years ago, and a friend of mine's gf, came up and thanked me for "playing it for her"... I didn't even know if she had ever heard it before.. I played it for me. lol
I play piano and sing in a nice hotel in Florida for a living. Have been at this gig for almost three years now. Did dueling pianos for about 20 years before that. I am a huge fan of storytelling songwriters = James Taylor, John Prine, Lyle Lovett, Billy Joel, Leon Russell, Roger Miller (especially his work on the Disney Robin Hood soundtrack) I don’t think there is a better storytelling songwriter than Jim Croce. You feel like you are there from the first word of the song. I play seven or eight of his tunes in my show on a regular basis and they are always very well received. For the next one by Jim I would love to see your reaction to I’ll Have To Say I Love You In A Song. Such a beautiful piece of music. Love your reactions. Never miss one. Thanks for your love for what you are doing. It shows.
That whole album Photographs And Memories: His Greatest Hits is awesome, every song of his evokes an emotion. Jim was a great songwriter, musician, singer, and a master storyteller. We lost him on September 20, 1973; almost 49 years ago, and he is still very much missed. His music will live forever.
Classic. Loved how Amber really enjoyed and felt the song. Croce and Harry Chapin were the ultimate storytellers and, sadly, both of their lives were cut short. His best is 'Operator'. It's a down-tempo song that will hit you in the feels. If you want another fun, upbeat song by Croce, check out 'Working at the Car Wash Blues.'
He is one of the best singer songwriters. You have listened to his clever up tempo songs, but he has a whole other amazing vibe you can see in "Operator" and "Time in a bottle".
One of my favorites from childhood gone too soon. Great story teller. Operator, Time in a Bottle,I Got a Name, are definitely ones you have to check out.
The Jim Croce song that I am surprised that you have not reacted to is "I Got A Name". That song is right up both of your alleys. And just a FYI, his last name Is pronounced CROW-CHEE. As the song above, He's got a name.😉
I was listening to Jim the other day and hoping you would come back to him soon. There are so many songs you can hear. Next time, slow down to “Operator”, “Time in a Bottle” or “Photographs and Memories”.
Jim Croce was like the prophet of Folk music always telling tales of maybe real events which he made into poetic lyrics to make the event a story or Myth. Love me some Jim......miss him too.
He was such a great singer, songwriter, musician, and storyteller. My favorite was Time in The Bottle. I softer side of Jim. He wrote it for his son rnot long before the accident. I could name so many of his that are awesome. Another fun uptempo song of his is Roller Dirby Queen.
A good friend of mine had turned me on to Jim Croce's music, and this particular tune is one of my favorites. Thanks for sharing this classic song with us! Some of his slow ballads are classics too like "Photographs and Memories." You both should listen to this one next.
You all have been doing his "fun" songs. There is an emotional side to him. Try Operator, I have to Say I love you in a song, time in a bottle, one less set of footsteps, or New York is not my home. On the other side there are more "fun" songs, Rapid Roy and Workin' at the Car Wash Blues. Any one of these are really good songs.

Yeah, I kept waiting for them to pick up on that, but they never did.
Same here. I caught that switch up from Jim to Slim. I think I saw a show on Jim's son as he is also a singer and only recently began covering his dad's songs.
It's hard to catch that the first time.
*And he was cut in about a hundred places*
*And he was shot in a couple more*
*And you better believe*
*They sung a different kind of story*
*When big Jim hit the floor*
*Yeah, big Jim got his hat*
*Find out where it's at*
*And it's not hustlin' people strange to you*
*Even if you do got a two piece custom made pool cue*
Like they didnt get bad bad leroy got his ass kicked
"Photographs and memories." I haven't seen anyone come close to his singer/songwriter ability. He left us way too soon. Peace and safe blessings.
It shows.
Another great reaction! If you want more of Jim Croce, I recommend some of his slower songs, too. One of my favorites has always been "Operator".
Love Jim Croce!!! Amazing voice & one our best story tellers. Gone way too soon 💔
Rip to a great Singer, Songwriter Jim Croce,We Still Miss You Always
Jim is one of the great singer songwriters of our time. Time in a bottle is a must
That whole album Photographs And Memories: His Greatest Hits is awesome, every song of his evokes an emotion. Jim was a great songwriter, musician, singer, and a master storyteller. We lost him on September 20, 1973; almost 49 years ago, and he is still very much missed. His music will live forever.
"I've Got A Name" makes my all time top 20 songs list. So good.
His "novelty" funny songs are great. BUT, he has a beautiful singing voice he uses in his slower songs.
“photographs and Memories” is one of his soft, sweet, deep, songs. Great tune!
Love, love, love Jim! I’m so glad people are still discovering and loving his music!
Operator is an absolute must listen for glorious storytelling in song by Jim.
Yes! Jim Croce was such a great story teller. He could be crazy funny or very lonely, sad, sensitive. 👏👍❤️
ALL of his songs tell a story. From "Rapid Roy The Stockcar Boy" to "Workin' At The Carwash Blues" to "Operator" and all points in between.
The Jim Croce song that I am surprised that you have not reacted to is "I Got A Name". That song is right up both of your alleys.
And just a FYI, his last name Is pronounced CROW-CHEE. As the song above, He's got a name.😉

Jim Croce was an amazing artist which had an amazing talent. He left this earth too soon. This is just the tip,of the iceberg for his talent.
I was listening to Jim the other day and hoping you would come back to him soon. There are so many songs you can hear. Next time, slow down to “Operator”, “Time in a Bottle” or “Photographs and Memories”.
Good lyrics! Beautiful voice!! 😍🤩🥰
Jim Croce was like the prophet of Folk music always telling tales of maybe real events which he made into poetic lyrics to make the event a story or Myth. Love me some Jim......miss him too.
From South Alabama comes a country boy! You don't mess around with Slim. Croce's slower songs are beautiful.
Love this song!! Such a talented dude!!🤘🔥
RIP JIM CROCE!! his songs are classics 👍😃❣️😃👍
He was such a great singer, songwriter, musician, and storyteller. My favorite was Time in The Bottle. I softer side of Jim. He wrote it for his son rnot long before the accident. I could name so many of his that are awesome. Another fun uptempo song of his is Roller Dirby Queen.
Roller Derby Queen is a must, best song of many great songs in my opinion.
A good friend of mine had turned me on to Jim Croce's music, and this particular tune is one of my favorites. Thanks for sharing this classic song with us! Some of his slow ballads are classics too like "Photographs and Memories." You both should listen to this one next.
You need to listen to his beautiful ballads. Get ready to cry.
React to Jim Croce singing "Time in a Bottle".
I love all the "Church" in the chorus, Amen Brother! Roller Derby Quern is a hidden Jem! Cheers!
He does some amazing ballads, Operator, Photographs and Memories, I Got a Name, Lover's Cross. You really should stick with Jim.
As others have said "time in a bottle" is his soft side, and a great, great song!
Gone too soon. Great story teller. "Operator" and "Time In A Bottle" are two other good ones!
Roller derby queen is one of my Jim Croce favorites ❤
You all have been doing his "fun" songs. There is an emotional side to him. Try Operator, I have to Say I love you in a song, time in a bottle, one less set of footsteps, or New York is not my home. On the other side there are more "fun" songs, Rapid Roy and Workin' at the Car Wash Blues. Any one of these are really good songs.
2 of is most underrated songs is Hard way every time and tomorrows gonna be a brighter day
His name is pronounced Crow-chee with accent on Crow.
