you should play in a band called nutellica
good one!
FWIW, 2024 when I'm watching this.... I have a Vox Wah from 1995 that works flawlessly to this day.
29 years later.
And it spent a lot of that time off and on the shelf.
Thank you for this insightful video.
Wow! this is a real shootout! thanks for this informative and entertaining. I've had the same problem with that fulltone wah!
Once again, you have filled a void! You are awesome!
You have the Morley M2 sounding so cool like the intro to the movie and old TV show "Shaft."
Great video. I bought a 1990 Morley on ebay, simplest one they made, changed almost every component in it 'cause it was sucking my tone, then finally realised it had a really narrow band pass filter which made all the difference when I changed a single resistor value! I quite like it now and it's staying this way 'cause I got fed up of changing it!
Great shootout, Henning. Thank you! I'm just starting to think about buying wah-wah and this video is very helpful to me. And that Nutella on your chin is an extra sweet bonus :).
Im glad you showed the Real Mcoy RMC10,ive been interested in that model because after reading about it,it seems like the most vintage accurate unit
Wah’s up henning
After 15 years of using a Bad Horsie, I bought a Crybaby and hated it. However I bought a mod kit from ebay and totally transformed the Crybaby to a fantastic pedal. I added true bypass, a led, changed to a clyde kit and also a Jimi mod that's turned on/off via a separate switch. It now sounds similar to the Petrutci wah.
Anyhow, love your videos. I'm also a massive joyo fan and can't wait till the wah pedal is released next month.
\m/
My supervisor at work must like Nutella too as he always has a mark like that on his nose! 🤣
Great Vid! Dunlop has a great video or two about the history of the wah, Thomas Organ Company was one of the first, putting the Clyde McCoy name on it to increase sales. RMC is a sort of homage to that in the name and makes great wahs indeed! I love my CAE Wah, but was great to hear your introspection HP, love the nitty gritty details you get into! \m/
Strong recommend for any future testing: The Dunlop/CAE Wah MC404 . I have a couple of very bright guitars that I really needed to individually tweak both the Q and the sweep focus on every wah I tried, or else using the full sweep of a pedal just took the rig into shrill and piercing territory.
The Dunlop/CAE Wah MC404 pedal took some adjusting to a happy medium, but the real difference is in the choice of induction circuits - it's basically two different pedals in one, and I can finally have just one wah for most of my guitars.
12:16 ...lyrics on the bottom: 'waah waah wah, waah waah wah, waah waah waaaaoouh, I'm the maaaaaan in the box!' XD
Nice vid Henning.
One thing, you said of the Vox "chrome top, one sound, no frills" yet a chrome top is the absolute definition of a frill!
I have a 2009 Fulltone Clyde Deluxe and it is Phenomenal. Studio Quiet, Smooth Taper, Vocal Sounding & Versatile. I Agree - All Wah's should have an LED indicator. I like the indicator on the Dunlop Van Halen Wah - "No Mini Wah's" = Your Foot is the size of Your Foot. Jam Pedals, Xotic and Teese RMC -10 also Sound Fantastic.
35minutes in. I think I found my new wah
That gold 72 sounds awesome.
I had to retire my old Dunlop last year........no amount of contact cleaner would get rid of the scratchy pot.......granted I got it in the early 90's
Nutella on chin = Disturbed singer: "ou wah ha ha!"
Wah.t else?
The deal with the Crybaby Mini is that it has 3 internal settings. Low, Vintage, and regular Crybaby sound. You get 2 extra wahs for extra $10.
i cant stop looking at the nutella. it is mesmerizing
That admission at the begin was hilarious gave me a good chuckle
Also a great video too by the way! Great style of reviewing, very informative but well laid out. Good insight + comparisons too
Nothing better than pancake with nutella! I feel you Henning!
Great video, thank you very much for making it. Of course there are other wah pedals - there is Bad horsie, Dunlop wah from hell (I guess it’s an adjusted version of 535q), Dunlop Clyde McCoy (one trick pony with a very special voice) etc, but if I would be looking for a wah pedal, this is the video I would have started from.
I would love to see more of a same kind of videos - eg. tubescreamer kind of overdrives shootout, univibe shootout, etc
Cutting the rubber stoppers on the VOX 847A where there is a bevel makes it easy to switch on/off, cutting them completely away makes it switchable Hendrix style but will take some time getting used too, feels like the switch has an internal spring so it is possible to turn it on/off quickly in repeat, Dave Simpson shared the idea in a video.
Buffer is also pleasant when the Wah is off, had another way more expensive and versatile Wah which had a buffer that colored distorted sound badly when it was turned off.
Omg got to love Henning
Whoooah whoooah! You outbid yourself this time!
very happy with my Billy Duffy crybaby, versatile AF. and no need to engage it with force/your toe
LOVE LOVE LOVE (and Glenn is wahrong!)
I'm liking the David Draiman look 🤣
McCoy, fulltone and Harley Benton on top for sure :D
I have a Mission elec. Re-wah pro and I’m perfectly content with it.
I've just wanted to buy used RMC 10 ;) thanks man! I'll stay with my old hendrix wah ;)
I LOVE WAH!!!!
Henning does Kirk Hammett solos for 1hr and 2 min.....
Very cool and I agree that the Petrucci is one of the best out there.
An honorable mention is the Ibanez Weeping Demon. It may or may not be the best sounding (it has tone adjustments), but the ability to have come on automatically or by switch is awesome and I think it's the only one that will do that. I hate how hard you have to stomp on CryBabys to activate them (especially after they are a few years old), especially on a carpet floor, on a pedalboard with rubber feet. The Ibanez is also cheap.
The Fulltone is a great wah, but it's a real diva in terms of inputs, very "GIGO". It's a simple transistor-based amplifier with no op-amps (and old-school BJTs, not FETs), and no filtering on the power rails, so it's a very vintage sound for better (wonderful tone) and worse (noise). Additionally, the thick metal shell providing a Farraday cage around the inductor has a thick paint job to go with it; great for durability, not so great for making sure the shell and bottom plate are well-grounded.
Scraping or sanding off the paint (actually powdercoat) between shell and plate at one corner of the base, and around one of the output jacks on the inside, helps immensely in reducing ambient hiss from nearby EMR sources by completing the grounded shell. A super-clean power brick, or a battery (the circuit draws less than 5mA so your average 9V will last several gigs), further reduces noise. There will still be a little hiss from the vintage circuit and component choices, but it'll improve dramatically.
Great video, very instructive. My Fulltone clyde deluxe works perfectly! Expensive sure, but in second hand more affordable, paid the half price for mine.
Take a look at Wison wah's, hand made, in little series, not too expensive for the quality and tone.
I love the way you introduce some products with "le french", if you want I can teach you some french words or sentences ;-)
Bass fuzz wah, in hard-core black biker boots with nuts on his chin for an hour? Pure Mad Max Henning! How can ya not respect it? Also, animals at the end
Could we have a Revv Dynamis Generator 7-40 compare video? Thanks for your wonderful videos.
I'd love to hear your thoughts on the Custom Audio Electronics MC404! I've been using it for a couple of years now, and it has been absolutely awesome.
Jam Wah is amazing
Great video dude! The best wah shootout on the tube!
I barely saw that nutella spot, because I was looking at that Michelangelistic Blue Lagoon Tarzanian tshirt all the time. How do I unsee it?
Small wahs save an acre of space if you put them on a boss-pedal sized riser such as the one Diago makes. No stomping on surrounding pedals then, plus additional space for cabling if you happen to have a simple bad flat board without gaps. I understand that people still buy those?
If the light on the Friedman was as big as the sauce on your chin you would match, get it? The no more tears took me awhile😂
Nutella soul patch is awesome
if you want to buy a fulltone clyde deluxe you can get one for $167US if you buy from fulltone and the shipping is pretty cheap too [ the $167US CDW is a cosmetic blem meaning that there is some small cosmetic issue with it like a scratch or some thing like that].so i think that is like $145euro plus shipping.BUT the JAM wah was my favorite.
Finally, an honest video!!!
RMC Wah, and the Friedman 72 does it 4 me. Already have the RMC and will get the 72 next.
Seems like dunlop went backwards with the newer 535Q. I have an older version of the 535Q which had a big knob that had detents at each voicing. On the bottom it had two small knobs with lines for boost and Q range.
Wah are sounds as baby's crying. But early year's, the wah effects pedals , sounds are give us headaches, easy !!!! But , ib1980 , the wah are disco , dancing music ....rocks and rolls
Nutella should sponsor you!
I wanted to buy RMC10, after watching this video - I still want to!😂
I keep thinking the girl on your shirt is looking up at the guy on your shirt thinking to herself..."I can't believe this guy I'm swinging around with has Nutella on his chin..."
My main gripe about the Hotone wahs - it's nice they thought of an LED but where they placed it boggles the mind. Its covered by the pedal!! Would you even see those LEDs if the wah is on toe down position??
damn.... I forgot to bitch about that!
Great video. A little bummed you weren't able to demo a Dunlop KH95 Kirk Hammett Signature Cry Baby Wah Pedal, though.
Geiles Video!
Aber für mich zu spät...
Habe mir vor 2 wochen ein dunlop crybaby gekauft.
RMC10 for me 👍🏼
RMC 10 - is a Killer.
Hi Henning.
The Nutella chin suggests that, if you wanted to go as the singer from Disturbed this Halloween, you could probably pull that off.
Thank God you left your shoes on. Even some pedal manufacturers don't.
But for reference you also should not change them. Does playing the pedal with a blue shoe sound the same as playing it with a beige shoe? Or, the other way around, do the blues and the brown sound require matching shoes?
My kid when we’re out of Nutella: “wah wah”
As far as testing Sweep, aren't most Wah pedals internally adjustable as far as sweep?
Surely not the cheaper ones, I guess.
Any plans to cover the Bad Horsie when you find it?
This is from 5 years ago and the expensive ones have all come down in price. Some $50.00 less!
Check if there's a battery in the Carl Martin wah. If there is, the power supply might not work.
Hipster Nutella goatee - it’s a thing!
Do anybody remember the Color Sound wah wah they were out of sight almost or did beat all of these wah' hands down really check them out if you can find one ley me know .
Joe Gagarin builds perfect replica of colorsound: check him on reverb
Wah , cry , and soul press .vow press ...baby's. Babe .....Japanese girls. And next ...happy sounds
535Q was cool, and dam I watched this in my underwear 😝
59:49 wah ah ah ah ha ah ha ha ha
the behenning of a mohawk on your chin
Where is the Sonuus Wahoo???
Is it wrong I’m bummed the bass wah wasn’t on here? I know it’s kinda different cus of the envelope but meow. Great job man
Between Petrucci and Cantrell for high gain leads. Anyone with experience?
Reminds me of that episode of IT Crowd, where Roy had shit on his face.
I was thinking the same thing!
It's not shit! It's chocolate! .... So... ya wanna go out with me? ;D
I love that show!
Henning the Real Mccoy RMC10 is built by teese Reese in USA
which ones dont suck tone
next video you and 20 people play 20 wah at the same time!
...chin music..
Be honest, it was Glenn's Nutella !
nutellachin ahahah do you know Jon Sine?
In the Friedman Vintage S video i mentioned that i would like to put nutella on the neck of that guitar and lickl it. Guess who did it for real?
I think that's not the latest slash wah, he changed his wah, and the new one comes with built in distortion and volume control
I thought he used the distortion from his Marhsall heads
@@JoeBaermann ua-cam.com/video/x1pgF2WYZKE/v-deo.html check this out
I'm a Morley guy for 25 years.
Check yourself before you rec(ord) yourself!
My mom say that “Nutella kills Orangutans”, so I can not have it :O
She is probably right... I don’t actually eat real nutella... it was another brand.
@@EytschPi42 Aldi's brand is the best one. I suggest a massive Nutella-clone shootout.
palm oil apparently is what kills orangutans
@@EytschPi42 was it nusspli? Fuck nusspli
Haha Henning,
It looks like you have poop at your chin 😂😂😂
Maybe he was just kissing the kitty and she sneezed .... wah..wah ..wahhhh
40:01 that's a fact Jack the truth is so funny. What's a few more inches gonna hurt anyway. My shoes are size 12. How small is the floor? Phone booth? Lighter weight? What 4 or 5 ounces. Why not make it even smaller? LOL
If you get a chance Henning, take a look at the Sonuus Wahoo. It’s all of those in one pedal.
Will you charge nutella for advertising their product?
I should!
RMC make great wah pedals but thwyre not the original wah manufacturer as you said in the video. You are confusing Clyde McCoy the trumpet player whose name and face appear on the bottom of the early thomas organ wah.
and henning leaves out the best wah of them all, the cae wah..........(sigh)
You now do advertising for junk food companies too?!
Your sweater is great and would look better in front of more Laboga amps
wink wink
Maybe even that Fame you have on your Reverb page
wink wink
RMC10 or nothing else.
I don't know why you don't like the 535Q the Swiss Army Knife CryBaby an a better value .
Nutella on pancakes? That's sacrilegious!!!! Pure Canadian maple syrup is the only true topping for pancakes! My god man.... have you completely lost your mind!? BTW the Nutella looked a little like a tiny misplaced soul patch. Xotic gets my vote.
#shitstainonthechin
There is Nutella on your chin btw.
