This machine looks new why is it making a noise when it's not that old? WTH. These manufactures making junk. My grandparents had wash machines that lasted 20+ years.

Yep, they're junk! One year manufacturer warranty! I've got two of them right now. 4 years of use and clutch has gone out in it. If you want a washer that will last 10 years at least or more, get one with a 10-year warranty! Speed Queen. They make commercial washers or local washer store that fixes and refurbishes washer sells speed Queen new. You can buy a commercial grade one for your home

My washer makes an eerie whining or oooooooing noise. I thought it was a ghost or a hurt animal outside. Help, please. Any ideas. It usually does this after it finishes washing and in the spinning cycle. Sounds like it is barely moving inside. Thanks for any comments or advice.

Fyi regarding agitator removal my GE model GTW220ACK6WW Just had one bolt down in the bottom. I had to use three long extensions to get. Did not have a place for a screwdriver. I just removed the cap at the top. Some of them have fabric softener dispenser on top. Pull that off and below it and you'll see the bolt at the bottom

My transmission was gone out on it so the center shaft that does the agitation no longer turned From the motor it wasn't engaging anymore. Apparently the gears in the transmission were stripped out. I wonder if this is due to people putting too big a load in? And there's no clutch dogs like the old fashioned washers to wear out and replace.

I don't have this same model, but it's a GE. I found this with mine as well. We have found if you use the bulky option (you'll be wasting water though), it will spin at a slower speed and it won't make as much of a racket. Not an ideal fix in any way, but it works and we found it doesn't leave lint on our clothes like the water saving modes. These water saving modes use way too little water.

@@bensappliancesandjunk Oy! Board update means digital hooey? I'm 73 and missing miniscus in both knees and believe me, even to bend over never mind bend down. It's a blessing to have that excellent cushion between your tibia and femur ... but I certainly appreciate your responding and I will continue to speak to the machine as Jesus said we should in Mark 11:23-24, "speak to the mountain", whether that mountain is a washing machine, cold, flu or missing miniscus, HE said it and I will not deviate from HIS Words. I have to admit, I've been declaring peace to the machine for over 2 years and it is no where near violent as the day I moved in ... it has calmed down bigly ... thanks again Ben and be Blessed and be careful and may you increase, you and your children in Jesus Name!!!

The basket in my Maytag top load washer had severe movement which caused the washer to move either left or right and would take longer to wash the clothes. I tried to even out the load, but it did not work. One day I looked at the washer to see if it was level. I noticed that the back side of the washer was 1" to 1-1/2" lower on the back side. I leveled the washer by adding wood blocks on the back side. Since I got the washer level, it's been working well so far. It is so quiet on the spin cycle, I couldn't tell if the machine was still on. It used to take an hour or so for the machine to complete its cycle, now it takes about 40-45 minutes. I hope this helps.
