I think Pokemon made a great decision 1-5 escalation of stakes/plots/motives 6 - 9 de-escalation. They didn't fall into the Shonnen anime power scaling trap wear the stakes and powerlevels become so big the world and characters no longer matter.

Honestly, it would be kinda boring if every evil team just wanted to take over the world in some way. I’m glad they changed them to have more nuanced motives.
It goes from generic mafia-like group, to wanting to genocide people/Pokémon, to wanting to wipe out the universe, to PETA, to people that never aged out of highschool. It's almost like they powerscaled themselves too hard

not really needed, considering the down to earth approach for “villains” makes it less about a single villain and more about building the characters as we saw with SV & team star. The team star villains including all the side characters have easily some of the best and most enjoyable writing out of the last few gens.
Yeah, tbh I find it way more enjoyable just watching Team Skull being... Team Skull than just minding my own business and then just getting yanked into a "and now you save the world" story.
Giovanni and Cyrus are the perfect middle of overbearing and good writing.

I feel like with the next two evil teams they tried to recapture what made Team Skull so great, but at this point it's really lost it's charm and I feel like we're all ready to to go back to some serious teams. Of course, I'm all for them still being a little goofy, especially the grunts, but I would like the stakes to feel a little higher than just "Eh these guys are kind of inconveniencing us"

Something I realized Over the New Gen Pokemon Games is that The Team thats against through the New pokemon games backstory is slowly getting worse overtime.

Technically overzealous fans can become a big problem a lot with celebrities and although you are right they aren’t “evil” their actions can be taken as toxic. Especially if they create a version of someone in their head or if they start taking actions as if they are ‘friends’ with said celebrity. Team Yell takes the rivalries too far as they start bullying without their leaders or without Marnies knowledge.

Ngl, team skull had to have been the most iconic of the series, cuz who else actually succeeded in their plans to the full extent? They took over a whole town before you even got there.
Cyrus from Gen IV looked at humans as incomplete, so he wanted to erase and remake the universe so all humans were made
depressed.
A few corrections:
- Team Galactic didnt want to reset anything, but Cyrus wanted get rid of everything because he believed emotions made living things weaker.
- Ghetsis' plan was to be the only one with pokemon as his son was chosen by the legendary dragons and no one could argue against him.
- Team Skull are social outcasts who believed everyone should be able to participate in the island challenge
- Team Aether had Lusamine, and her story in SuMo is just not very happy
At least in USUM she redemed more , not merged with an UB and get sick and cause of that Lily stayed in Alola ( and going on a “date” with her at the Battle Tree ) , she could see her husband even him having amnesia and Gladeon still returns to Alola during the Pokemon League

@@d0unut2- Most likely poor wording; it's meant to be Lusamine's husband. On the Poke-Pelago, there's a man running the islands. All that's known is that this man has amnesia, and he resides on the islands. But if you take a look at him, he bears a striking resemblance to Gladion and Lillie, basically all but outright revealing his true identity as Lillie's and Gladion's father.
In US/UM, there's a scene where Lusamine meets this man. The man doesn't regain his memory, but he says that he would like to see Lusamine again. Lusamine does seem to recognize the man, but doesn't reveal anything, most likely knowing his amnesiac state and not wanting to dump all that on him.
Team skull was a bunch of people who didn't complete the island challenge and felt no sense of belonging, so they joined the gang led by Guzma for a sense of belonging, and Guzma started it because he wanted to get back for never being made captain and given a z-ring.

If you think about it, both team star and skull are a group of outcasts who got together to commit crime.
And this is why Rocket is classic. No outlandish philosophies on "humans bad" or "must save humanity" or any other grandiose pathos.

I truly loved the whole concept of Team Rocket being a mafia/crime syndicate type of group, it perfectly fit into the world of Pokémon where a lot revolves around the domestication and utilisation of those little critters
They even killed and trafficked many pokemon

I think they were the only evil team to canonically killed Pokémon but personally, I think pokemon related things aren't their only business. Giovanni ran the game corner and I personally think they have branches outside Kanto for that. Not to mention since they have a Mafia-esque thing going about I think they are loan sharks as well.

@@markkart Yea but not actually mentioned, even Lusamine wanted to go as far as to kill Nebby/Cosmog. Unlike Team Rocket who actually killed a pokemon in both the games and the manga (which I won't count). Whoever, both teams are really good and deserve some form of spotlight once in a while.
