  • This video walks you through the steps I took to install LED recessed lighting on my high ceiling.
    Safety precautions
    1. Turn off the main circuit/s before attempting to work on this
    2. Please ensure 100 pct that there is no electricity flowing through before you start working
    3. Do not leave any wires hanging that someone could touch and get shocked
    4. Verify completely that the power is shut off before attempting to work on this
    Parts
    The following are the equivalent parts from Amazon. You can also find similar parts at Harbor Freight, Home Depot etc. I used mine mostly from Harbor freight with a few from Amazon and Home Depot. Would appreciate if you can click the links below to purchase.

    Nice job. I’m an electrician myself, I was impressed by the way you roped the fixture trim up from below.

    I too have a high ceiling and want to add a few recessed lights. I thought of the attic approach but I was just a bit nervous of how safe it would be to move through the attic without falling down. Also I was thinking on how to get the recess light install from the back - the rope idea was brilliant I didn't think about it. Thanks for sharing!

    Man that is a high ceiling. Loooong way to fall. Too high for reasonable scaffold. I like the string solution very much. Your knifework on romex had me nervous (lol) Thanks for sharing

    On Amazon, you can actually get these with a manual switch in the internal housing that allows you to change the color temp from 2700-6000k. It’s amazing because you’re not stuck in the daylight color temp and can dial back to pure white if you find it to be too bright for your space. Great job though.

      The one I used from home depot also has the three switches to change the color temperature. I found the home depot brand to be more reliable than the Amazon stuff while offering the same features. I can set three different light temperatures on the one shown in this video.

    Hello! The lights appear wonderful. I'm interested in knowing the lumens of the led lights you used. I have a ceiling of similar height, and I'm wondering if exceeding 1200 lumens might make the room overly bright. Additionally, were you able to incorporate a Kelvin temperature switch into the setup?

    Great video. I’m also considering doing this myself but with different approach since I don’t have attic access. Are the light you used rated for direct contact with insulation?

    • @diybuildandlife207
      @diybuildandlife207  3 роки тому +1

      Yes they seem to be rated for direct contact and I have insulation layer over it. Thanks for watching. Please subscribe to my channel.

    Hello, i was actually hoping to see a video. Do you have flickering from the fan being below the lights?

    Hi. Thanks for the video. It was very helpful and gave us the confidence to attempt this project. We have installed LED lights in my LR. The LED light is (11) in your list. It was working initially but in a week since, it is tripping the circuit breaker immediately when turned ON. We turned off all the loads on the circuit and this is still happening. What is going on? Would be great to hear your thoughts/advice.

    • @diybuildandlife207
      @diybuildandlife207  3 роки тому

      I installed only 6. You should always check if your circuit can accommodate the number of new lights you are adding.

    How high is the ceiling? You just used regular recessed lights? Not high output? Was it enough light? I have a job to do but thinking the light will not be bright enough

    Hi I have a 20ft ceiling and I need to replace the builder provided recessed mount LED light. Did you get a ladder rental? If so, do you have any recommendation?

    We have 16’ ceilings in our living room. What color, lumen, and spread would you suggest for our recessed LED lighting (4”)?

    • @diybuildandlife207
      @diybuildandlife207  4 роки тому

      I think it's a personal preference. For my bedroom with about 8 feet ceilings I still used a 6 inch.

      DIY Build and Life sorry maybe i was unclear.... What color, lumen, and spread would you suggest for our living room (16’ ceilings) if we are using 4” LEDs?

    • @diybuildandlife207
      @diybuildandlife207  4 роки тому

      @@justinbinaesq.7713 Personally I think 4 inch may be small for the height you have. If I had a 16 feet ceiling I would do a 6 inch. Also the lumens depends on how bright you want the space. The model o linked can support three lumen ranges which is for soft white, warm and very bright. I have it set at bright for family room and warm for bedroom.
