    Why does this interview have so few views? It’s fantastic and a LOT of good information is divulged here! For example we learn there are five pentagonal temples on the planet, we learn that the planet core has unique attributes when compared to other planets like Earth, he lets it be known that 22B actually HAD a civilization on the planet in the past, he reveals that the Android from Mothers visions was in a “birthing pod”, he says 22B has zones just like Earth with tropical, ocean, desert etc. All good info!

    • @willmosse3684
      @willmosse3684 3 роки тому +4

      @@ghostgate82 I think it’s based on the Cult of Mithras, or Mithraism, which was a real world religious cult in the Roman Empire, about the same time as early Christianity, but not much is known about it because they did not write down their scriptures, leaving the show writers room to be creative. However, their statues show a divine sun, as well as several other features like a suckling snake. I visited the remains of a Mithraum - which is the name of their temples - under the City of London a couple of years ago.There was another Roman cult to Sol Invictus, which the pregnant girl notes when looking at the Taro Card things, saying that the sun logo looks like the sign of Sol Invictus. Also, they find the tooth of Romulus as a relic, which is another Roman thing, and is also the reference of the show title, as Romulus and Remus were two brothers raised by wolves who ended up founding a city on rival hills. Romulus killed Remus, and his city, Rome, went on to become the seat of a new great civilisation. The kids in this show are raised by two non-humans. So it seems like The Mithraic is based on Mithraism, combined perhaps with some other Roman era cults, and it seems that in this version of Earth, Mithraism rather than Christianity went on to become the global religion. But, did it really come from somewhere else? Is their god Sol really some other consciousness, on, say, Kepler 22b?

    I absolutely love this show and wish more people would pay attention to it. Now that the expanse has ended, perhaps the show will start gaining more momentum for Sci-fi fans looking for something to enjoy.
    I also love how obviously planned out this story is, as the writing does not hesitate to simply say “yes” to direct questions as opposed to vague answers like some shows in the past. I also like that he had the foresight to have a “contingency plot” that could still tell the story of it is not renewed to tell the full planned five season arc.
    Just an observation, but after watching a recap of season 1 bc of how long it has been since the season finale and with season 2 finally starting, I feel like Ridley Scott got together with this guy and said, “Let’s put our ideas together so I can finally get to tell the story I have been wanting to really put on screen since I wrote Prometheus.” I had forgotten the scene where mother sees the former species trying to birth a “child” such as her own, but they fail. After hearing the face of the android being labeled a “birthing mask” as well as its shape, it closely resembles the notorious “space jockey” from the original “Alien” film that was later revealed to be a helmet worn by the engineers in “Prometheus” to help the, fly their space crafts.
    This show has so much in common with what Ridley was trying to say in his prequel trilogy, but seemed to get muddled due to studio interference, rewrites, and having to shove the xenomorph into the story. It also has hints at some Battlestar Galactica lore as well. I hope we get the full Five seasons as I think this could be a truly epic science fiction series!

    Spoiler alert......
    The snow we often see is from the nuclear war the original inhabitants had. That's why the food is radioactive, and the creatures are mutants. They adapted to the darkness and lack of resources.

    • @markgreen4763
      @markgreen4763 2 роки тому +2

      @Guywith Aplan Just kidding about the series finale. I’m guessing that it will be a satisfying conclusion. The Statue of Liberty was a reference to the ending of the original Planet of the Apes movie. The actor, Charlton Heston, believes he is on a planet ruled by talking apes. When in fact his spaceship returned him to the Earth in the future. When he sees the Statue of Liberty, he realizes that he is back on Earth. Humans nearly destroyed themselves, allowing apes to evolve. So, maybe the creatures on Kepler-22b are what is left of a civilization that nearly destroyed themselves in a nuclear war.

      Mother and Father are the wolves. It is a reference to the mythical founders of Rome - Romulus and Remus - who were raised by wolves. They each founded a city on rival hills. Then Romulus killed his brother Remus, and Romulus’s city, Rome, went on to become the seat of a great new civilisation. The tooth that they find on the crashed arc in one of the later episodes is, at least as far as the Mithraic believes, the tooth of Romulus, and is one of their holy relics. The children in this show are raised by two non-humans - Mother and Father.

    A good show for sure, had me thinking about it long after I’d watch an episode as I purposefully didn’t binge watch it. I found it interesting that the creatures didn’t show up for the first 12yrs but once the young girl became pregnant, not only did they reveal themselves but they pretty much made beeline towards her, I wonder if there’s anything in that?
    By far the most intriguing and original SiFi series on TV right now, will be interesting to see season 2 and hope that they stay the course and are able to complete the whole 5 seasons?
    Unfortunately I don’t take anything for granted now, based on previous SiFi shows and movies, I know that American networks can be so fickle and pull show just as it gets really interesting if the numbers aren’t going in the right direction or production costs becomes too expensive. Hopefully this won’t happen here from what I’ve seen so far.

    Ok, here's my two cents. Kepler 22b IS Earth, just in a displaced time loop. The necromancers that were left behind when the Mithraics left Earth consolidated into what will become Sol and took root in the planets core as the best means of survival as the energy found there would be practically unlimited for an AI being. Perfect strategy for a waiting game of potential million years for the loop to close and the cycle to restart again with the arrival of Mother and Father. Furthermore, Not all humans left on earth died though, which explains the curious "devolved"creatures. The only thing I haven't figured out is who, or where in the timeline the Mithraics blueprints came from.

  • @bocckoka
    @bocckoka 3 роки тому +2

    Humans should have figured out that this mithraic technology is not there to serve their interests, but the interests of it's creators. In fact the mithraic snakes (or the AI that they left behind after their extinction) may be actively hostile towards humans, as humans (of unclear origins) may have played a role in their downfall, and the destruction of their planet. The question is, will Mother side with the humans? Also, the trip thorough the planet's core was a bit too much.

    • @bocckoka
      @bocckoka 3 роки тому

      also, Paul and the others influenced by visions are the snakes' agents. the snakes want to live in the tropical region, undisturbed by humans, so humans should stay in the borderline uninhabitable parts

    At the ending of the video I disagree on the comment that shorter seasons are better. Even 10 season episodes I consider way too short I miss the days when seasons were 20 plus episodes. It's like they just begin and just a few short weeks later they're over and then you have to wait an entire year just for the next season. I'm disabled and don't have much else to do but watch TV and there's not enough of it anymore. I used to have many different shows that I enjoyed watching that kept me busy, pretty much all the time. And nowadays seems like I've seen everything that can be seen multiple times and I have nothing to watch. Rhe few television shows I do enjoy watching play a 30 to 50 min episode once a week for 8 weeks. Sometimes 10 week but sometimes even worse a measly six weeks. Then I have roughly another 46 weeks before. Before I can have something new and interesting to watch.
    And by the way I love the show it's one of the very few shows that peak my interest and out of all the shows I enjoy watching this has to be the best one.

    The way I see it this guy is the new Damon Lindelof. He is tackling some very interesting themes and is able to raise great questions but then spoils it with very underwhelming answers that ruin the experience. It does not help at all that he doesn't care about making any sense on any level. I am guessing the pitch was: Imagine Lost but it's in space and with androids.

      I'm not sure he really is asking any big questions. I certainly see people *interpreting* a lot of meaning. Also, I'm pretty sure no mention of *Lost* was made.🤭 Pitch meeting was probably: *'I bet I can get people to read way too deeply into a hot genocide-robot fvcking in milk.'* 🙃

      @@zoopdterdoobdter5743 I think that there are very interesting questions in the heart of this story. Humanity and it's selfdestructive relation with religion and fanaticism. The hypothesis that advanced artificial intelligence could be a capable parent and what would that result in. I though that, given what we know about the psychological development of children, it would be like being raised by a parent with some sort of autism whose behaviour pattern does not really inform you on general human behaviour. So I did find the concept interesting at first. There were many possibilities to be explored. Also I don't really think that it's a case where the creators set out to create something compromised for an audience that doesn't have a high standard. I think it's a case where it's just not as good as it should have been because they either don't know any better or there where too many creative inputs pulling at different directions.

    So ... no questions about the similarities of Ridley Scott's Alien franchise? If not exactly within the same "universe", then why so many visual and thematic similarities... and will we see more of it?

    • @Vondruke
      @Vondruke 3 роки тому +2

      @Nicolaus Volentius Strong semi-androgynious female leads, Androids, androids with white blood, androids obsessed with their origins, dystopian technocratic future, religious undertones of the origin of the human race, fertility, motherhood, fatherhood, Earth pets on alien planets, pets as children/protection, birthing alien creatures from another species/androids, fostering children, and of course the mere fact that Scott is involved and the timeline fits as it's far enough in the future from what he consider cannon (Alien, Aliens, Prometheus, Covenant) coupled with the fact that he tried to pass Prometheus as a non-Alien related work (so there is precedence) so he may be trying to do the same here. All we're missing is a Weyland-Yutani logo and a Xenomorph and it's more or less confirmed. I feel kind of like I'm pointing out the obvious and everyone is just like.. "yeah, the sky is blue.. you don't have to mention it". also...
      ++ SPOLER ALERT
      The flying alien baby looked exactly like the proto-worm/snake from Prometheus. And not only creature design, but set design, ship design (the arcs, not the shuttle, which is, as well as the suits, seems to be a nod to sci-fi films of the 50's and 60's).. I mean it's not straight up HR Gieger, but it's Gieger-esque.
      Is that not enough similarities? I can probably think of a few more if pressured.
      If it's not part of the Alien franchise, then either this dude was heavily inspired by and people were like "Hey Ridley Scott should direct this, wouldn't that be cute".. or it's been sort of ret-conned and absorbed into the franchise because of the similarities, or Scott's involvement is much hands-on than they are eluding towards.

      @@Vondruke It is certainly very Ridley-esque. But I think that is thematic and stylistic, rather than a direct story link. Scott himself has said that this story is not connected to the Alien franchise or universe. But they clearly wanted his imprint on it. Guzikowski said in this interview that they wanted to Scott to create the look and feel of it, and then other directors could follow his lead from there. He also talked about Scott mapping out the shoot schedule and stuff. So I reckon 1) Guzikowski is heavily influenced by Scott and is interested in many of the same themes, so 2) he wanted Scott to put his imprimatur on it, and 3) Scott was indeed very involved in the production of this first series, though it is an open question whether he will be going forwards.

      I don’t know about that. There was foreshadowing of the snake from the first episode, when we saw the skeletal remains of a giant snake. And statues from the Ancient Roman Cult of Mithras (also known as Mithraism - very similar to The Mithraic) show a snake suckling blood from a bull, in a similar way that this snake suckles from Mother. So I think there is a plan behind the snake. And yes, that other stuff hasn’t been explained. Yet. Guzikowski says in this video that he has the story planned out over 5 seasons, so we are only 20% into the story at this stage. We are only at the set up stage. For more on the link to Mithraism and other theories and whatnot, check out a video by Alt Shift X called, I think, “Raised by Wolves Explained”. It’s pretty awesome
