Watching from Las Vegas! Definitely have been following G19 for a while and love seeing your products. Your the reason why I purchased my Kraken Kit and have it installed today on my 1.9L Miata. G19 for the win!
Las Vegas! Long time since I've been there. Great to hear these videos are getting views across the pond. I'm not affiliated with G19 in any way I'm just documenting my build. I went with the G19 kit due to the many favourable reviews of their turbo conversion parts. Their quality does not disappoint!
Glad I went with G19. Fits great, no issues, and looks nice as well. As for the 1.6 yes I believe so. I think they've started and 'early adopter' program like they did with the 1.8 kits.
Brilliant video mate. I have been following your videos as I'm going to take the plunge in either supercharger or turbo mu mx5. And for how easy your making the supercharger install look I may go this route!
Thankyou! It's a tough decision to make, I reckon s/charger is the easier of the 2 to install, but not by a great deal. Then a lot of it comes down to personal preference - whether you prefer the characteristics of a s/charged or turbocharged engine.
Brill work mate, binged all these last night, I'm currently consideeing SC instead of turbo for ky car (exact aame model asbyou) mines track omly really, but the more limear band just makes sense on track. Subscribed! Also only over in pudsey so good to see some yorkshire on youtube!
Thanks mate! The linear power is what attracted me to the supercharger, especially for a road car. For a track car it's a tougher decision. Pudsey only 20 mins away if you can't make your mind up let me know, be happy to take you for a spin in mine when it's done 👍🏻
@@FastRust Appreciate that mate! We have a Wakefield MX5 group on Facebook (Also search Mx5 track ratz) You should join up and come to some track days with us (Once the doomsday weather is over!) Looking forward to the next video!
Another quality update. Must take you ages to get this all recorded and edited.... It's very much appreciated. I'm still on that fence till you let it rip on a good B road..... Then my wallet might open after some man maths is done.
Thanks again John. I'd have probably got the project done over 6 months ago if it wasn't for all the filming/editing!! Determined to see it through to the end though, which shouldn't be that far off now. & I'll deffo be letting it rip 🙂
awesome content i must say, couple questions, im trying to supercharge my 1.8 ecotec astra and was wondering where you got the supercharger intake and outtake adapters
@@FastRust Thank you for the reply. I'm looking into supercharging my 91 miata this summer and have been looking for a tensioner that allows me to keep my PS. I believe I'm going with an MP62 supercharger. Do u have any idea if this bracket in this video would also work with it.
Absolutely not! This series is taking long enough as is 🤣 Superchargers don't produce huge amounts of boost so I'm not worried about it. If you were shooting for upwards of 250whp then it's probably something to consider. This setup won't get near that.
@@FastRust I meant the main spigot that comes off of the ICV. Currently got near enough the same setup as yourself. And it's the one thing that is causing me issues
I may be not so knowledgeble, but why buy a supercharger that needs to be installed next to the exhaust manifold? It will feed hot air because the supercharger will warm up. Cold air is much better. Edit: I mean it in a way as if, are there superchargers that are placed right next to the intake? And maybe because of the way supercharger works, it won't really matter? It still pulls the same amount of air, and this air will go through a radiator regardless and get cooler. Nvm, I guess I answered my own question.
It's not ideal having it sat on top of the exhaust. Fact. But it's the easiest/cheapest way to go about it in these cars hence why most kits are designed this way. With a decent intercooler it still works well.
This is something I intend to cover in later episodes. Initially I will be running just the one throttle body on the intake manifold as that's the way the kit was designed. But I will be modifying the setup to dual TBs eventually and will document that as well.

Definitely a kit to look into, since the Jackson Racing ones are getting harder to find. Good thing they're making a kit for the 1.6 now as well.

Looks very clean.

That's how I did it man I made a all custom kit at home is that what those are custom peices

Sounds good! Had a look on Facebook but can't seem to find it, what's the name of the group?
Happy new year from France mate :)
Cheers. Same to you!
god this kit is so nice
It really is. Everything has fit 👌🏻

Yeah bro keep it up 🔥🔥 cant wait for my kit to arrive but i was wondering what to do on my car because i dont have the powersteering pump
Cheers bro! Not sure about the lack of power steering pump.. I'd give G19 a shout see what they have to say.

G19 Engineering
This is gonna be sick cause I know my 5th gen post face lift blowing threw a intercooler and using to bovs to vent rips on e85 or flex fuel
Prefer low end torque over high end speed for daily driving. Hence, prefer supercharge over turbo.
That was my reasoning 👍🏻
Will you still have power steering when this is done
Yes

No this is an M45 specific kit. I believe there are kits available for the M62.
Let me ask a question.
Are you not going to take the engine apart to gap your piston rings, before you boost?

What have you done regarding the idle control valve? Have you connected it using a hose takeoff?
Idle control valve is stock position under the throttle body. Do you mean the bypass valve?

i dont know if u can help me out with this but with the kit i cant see how a second throttle body mounts up do u have any idea how it works cheers

Naa - too easy that is!
Ha ha ha! You mean there wasn't an off the shelf kit for the Capri??!
