Fun fact! If you add up the total cost for a '16 Miata Club (~19K or less), car wrap (~3K), and supercharger (~5K), you're at $27K, well under the price of a new Miata Club (~$31K club, ~$35K with BBS & Brembo package like this car has). Will it be as reliable as a new Miata? Absolutely not! Will it be more fun?! I think so!
Big thanks to AutoTempest for sponsoring this episode! bit.ly/2Bq1wbw

And yet the service advisor never told customer that "You can purchase engine air filter for $10 - 20 a piece in store/online, and then you can spend 1 min of your time to change that on your own. But no, I am going to bill you $50 for that, where I can charge $30/min of labor."

Jason you may find this reassuring, when I was in auto body repair we had 4 high milage (350,000-450,000km) Mazda CX-5s come in, engines sounded great, just in for body repairs from accidents. I asked all the owners when they came to pick them up how much maintaince have the put in? Routine maintaince, breaks early was common amongsts them, and one person had an automatic transmission fail but thanks to the unlimited milage warrenty they were covered, and got it replaced for free. They were towing when it happened (perhaps over capacity) Carbon build up wasn't mentioned as an issue. Perhaps it's because they were all mainly highway vehicles, less change in speed, less PCV use?
I was surprised to see build up as it was an issue that Mazda adressed in the press release of the SKYACTIV G engines. They mentioned proper heat would eliminate build up, perhaps having more fun with this supercharged power will help?

Though perhaps the SKYACTIV 2.0L will hold up better than the Honda 2.2 with an 8000 redline and a tendancy to burn oil.

Congrats, and great color choice! My wife and I installed this exact same kit on our 2017 RF. When you get to driving it and are immediately VERY disappointed with the driveability of the Edelbrock tune (hesitation, surging, really uneven power delivery, etc), you may want to look into a 3rd party tune. We did a custom ecutek tune from a vendor we found on the miata forums; it was worth every penny and completely transformed the car. We were about to rip out the SC and take the car back to stock before we found a proper tuner. I'm eagerly waiting to see your dyno numbers; ours made 221 HP, 191 TQ with the SC kit and a RoadsterSport header. Also, for anyone wondering about the length and difficulty of the install, I'm guessing the reason it took them 3 days is because of the filming part; we are experienced DIY wrenches, but not pros by any means, and we did it in two relaxed 8-9 hour days, with one minor snag. The fuel line in our kit was from one of their LSx kits. They overnighted the correct part, though, so good customer service from Edelbrock. I hope you end up as happy with the final result as we are with ours!

This sort of video is ALWAYS great. An Engineer, and an actual Mechanic working together. Auto manufacturers ought to require this when they initially mock up their prototypes per-production. Then things like requiring almost 2.5 hours to replace the spark plugs on a Murano might not happen. Of course, whats really required is to have the Bean-counters assisting them, running for all the tools, etc, to make it up the food chain and be implemented. Easy maint. shouldn't be a dollar-costed out.

freezeme360 Lol, if those are like spark plugs you just heat them with a torch to remove (I assume you broke the part that the wrench goes on and will need to use an extractor kit). That’s not too difficult, even if you had to drill it out it’s not a terribly expensive job.

@freezeme360 I have a convertible and the Rams and pushrods broke. I had a service guy tell me it would be nearly 4k for them to fix it and another 500 for a rear end control module. Everything I needed was on eBay for 150.
