I don't support this. Because how can we promote a language which is not our mother tongue(the 59% Indians)? It has been seen that the central government always prefers the hindi cercle in every thing and rest of the country such as north east, westbengal, odissa and south India get ignored every time when there is a development issue.

secondly, not everyone is learning European languages but it's a matter of choice because of various personal reasons... eg I am have Hindi as my first language and taught English at school... but I know Bengali, Urdu, learning Spanish and Telugu... not because it's forced on me but different cultures intrigue me!!!
thirdly, it's absurd to advocate a Desi language while commenting in a foreign language

Back in IIT i had always noticed two groups in college.. One those hindi speaking people of all states including North east.. And another only tamil nadu, kerala & karnataka..!! Inter state Migration is the only solution to today's problem of job specially.. And all young generations need Hindi badly for conversation at any level..

The contention that one language can unite a nation is again a hoax. A nation so large, so multi-dimensional, with myriad cultures, can only be united by brotherhood and love. And that arises from love and respect for everyone's culture, and their opinions. It's about letting every culture flourish freely. From that true unity, this regime is going a far way off.

I belong to Telangana State. The beauty of our country lies in the concept of 'Unity in Diversity'. Our basic structure shouldn't be disturbed. At the same time I believe there's no harm in learning Hindi, which definitely gives us the feeling of 'Oneness', especially when we represent ourselves in international arena. But this should be done in a phased manner by removing the fears/insecurities of the Southern states. Only with everyone's cooperation we can achieve success. It's not an easy task but it's not impossible either.

Promote Hindi, but find a better way to do that. Making it compulsory in education simply won't work.
Coming to English, how can you compare English with Hindi? English is needed to communicate with anyone and everyone outside India. It deserves the attention it gets. On the other hand, to communicate inside India you could use English as well as Hindi. So why would you want to impose it on 59% of the population?

Sir...I feel making one language for nation's unity is always a best decision...But imposing is not the right way...Hindi can be made second language (in all states) holding the importance for regional language at first.People should be made aware of the importance of language in nation's unification. This cannot happen overnight...It's a gradual process...But I feel it's good to initiate now...For better results in future

I'm from West Bengal, I know Bengali, Hindi, English... I support for one Nation one language on Hindi...There must be a National Language for a country, india too.... I think it should be the language belongs to that country, that is Hindi, most spoken..... We should proud of our own languages, not for foreign language, respect for others language is always there, but here I support Hindi
A language is a medium of communication only, so the language should easy to understand for all people like Hindi, should not be a burden like English.

We as Indians should have One nation one language which promotes unity and also makes India's position stronger in UN and other countries in world. Soon Hindi can become official language in UN. Strategically the widespread of Mandarin by China throughout the whole world can also be challenged by this move of India.

If a pilot project is implemented across the non-Hindi speaking states to at least offer Hindi as an optional language subject in schools and colleges, then it could be a great start towards the goal of one nation one language. Efforts should be made to create interest among the people of non-Hindi speaking states, to learn Hindi. One language simplifies a lot of things, while off-course giving respect to all other languages signifying our rich cultural heritage.
