You're only supposed to turn the helicoil c. one turn below the start of the threaded hole. This can be set with the collar on the insert tool if you're doing a lot of helicoils. You also need to fit the correct length helicoil to suit the hole depth/fixing length/load requirements. Also belting the tang off with a bolt can dislodge the helicoil in the thread; THEN you've got a real problem!! 😬 You turn the tool anticlockwise to snap the the tang off. 👍
@@Kgoutdoor If it's a blind hole then it it's not a problem you can usually pick the broken off tang out with tweezers, a magnet or some grease can help. If it's a through hole, you need to make sure it doesn't fall into something (along with any swarf!) where it can cause damage; gearbox, oil pump, cooling system etc. 🤯 or where you end up taking more bits off the job to try & find it.😬 Just my 2 cents.
I've never seen so many people read a comment on how to PROPERLY DO SOMETHING, HOW TO USE THE TOOL TOO ACCOMPLISH THE TASK AT HAND then come up with reasons on why it's ok to do something incorrectly haha. It's easier to just do things they way they are intended to be done. But what do I know, I'm just some guy on the internet 🤷♂️
ive never understood why people use these damn helicoils. always pull back out, ive never seen one actually take more then 20ftlbs. drill it tap it and use another slightly larger fastener. id rather 1 oversize hole then a cheapo repair that has a 50/50 chance of fAILURE. ford used to beg us to quit using them as they always had warranty issues after. when i was a machinist pending on hole depth we would drill it dimple it and fill it with braze to rethread a proper hole. at ford the recommended procedure was to drill it tap it and use a larger bolt. we specifically carried 10 - 12 and 8 mm bolts that had larger threads for that process. so the fastener head would remain the same but you could have a variety of threads from metric to sae.
Um.. I have taps that are spiral taps that push them into the hole. Or with a through hole they push them down and into a chip bucket, for production work.

Bla Bla Bla.
Doesn’t the tang fall in? Sorry I’ve never done this and trying to fix my pressure washer.

I recover the tang with a pocket screwdriver that i attach my magnet to
I’ve never used it but I prefer the back thread method.
The collar on the tool is designed to set the insert depth .
Did you do this without drill?

I would have preferred that Red Threadlocker be used. But, because there is not a lot of torque required here, O/K.
Straight flute taps push the chips to the bottom, spiral taps bring them out

Better to use Time-sert for those kind of jobs
The piece you hit in- isn’t that inside the engine now?
Is it just camera angle or did that bolt go in slanted?
What's that bule liquid you used?
Blue is a medium stretch lock tight
High strength threadlocker red or green
SUBARU
Steel insert not fn helicoils
Wrong. You better used size D2 or D3.
Didn't brake off the wind in tag when and if it bottomed.
It's called a Hailey coil
Would have used a new bolt with that repair.
Subaru water pump. Yup
Helicoil? Never herd of um.
Heli coil...
Lmao same
''This''has nothing to do with mechanics...=> one time ''repair''...!!!
Fukk
I drill first
Joke
