I do love the brown inks. They are easy to put on the paper to look like backlit forests, sunlit fields, or hazy meadows after the rain. Excellent for background as well as writing.

Golden Brown is lovely. My favourite brown is probably Diamine ochre or Mont Blanc Toffee Brown.

My favorite browns (so far, I'm very new) are Laban Demeter and Colorverse JFK's Dog Pashinko, which is similar to Ina Ho but a little bit darker. I also enjoy Birmingham Fox Squirrel, which has some warm red notes and Wearingeul's Metamorphosis, which is an extremely rich dark brown.

Great video - I'd love to hear about your most favorite sheening & glittering inks (in BROWN, of course 😊) Much appreciated!

Some here I've never heard of. I don't quite 'get' Brown inks. I think they should look good, but...
I'm currently trying to adjust to Diamine Autumn Oak and I've got sample of Diamine Honey Burst in the wings. Diamine Ochre works for me on a good day. I've also got a bottle of SBRE Brown laid down in the safe.
Thanks for this review. As always informative and well done.
    Cheers

KWZ is a great Honey ink. As an added bonus, all the KWZ inks smell of vanilla.
I'm the same with orange inks. I don't 'get' them. I want to love them and have sampled about 30 so far but am left cold. The best I have found (for me) are Sailor Apricot / Kin-mokusei and KWZ Grapefruit (a red-orange). On the other hand, almost _any_ blue-black gets me going! (FWIW my top picks: Sailor Blue-Black, L'Artisan Pastellier Baikal, Aurora Blue-Black) [edit] Since I'm in suggestions mode and I'm also a huge fan of brown, I should probably actually suggest my favourite brown inks for you to review... These cover a range of hues: MontBlanc Toffee Brown, Rohrer & Klingner Sepia, Diamine Macassar

      @@breadyegg Thanks ND
There's nothing like recommendations form a fellow inkie! :)
Yes, my attempts with honey browns are as near as I would like to get to yellow and orange. I like good readability and I don't do artwork.
The Blue Black which eventually got me back into that area was Pilot/Namiki Blue Black which is very expensive in the U.K. Fortunately it is very easy to replicate with Black, Some bright blue and water until it gets the correct saturation. I used up a pile of Sailor Black, and Diamine Sapphire Blue, both of which I wasn't keen on. The litmus test was that it was indistinguishable from the Pilot / Namiki blue black including shading. A desperate measure which in this case worked! I shall check your choices out. Thanks.
I shall go and explore all of these - Thank you! 👍😁
      Post Script
Your Blue Black recommendations are superb to me. L'Artisan Pastellier Baikal is particularly different from inks I have and it's rather nice. Sadly I can't find a retailer in the U.K and it's not on eBay either.
That KWZ honey looks especially good for a golden brown. Very like the Diamine Tobacco Sunburst with a little more pop. Thanks.

@@breadyegg Oh yes, +1 for Macassar! I'm not a fan of R&K Sepia, but fell in love with their 2019 Kastanienbraun 🤎 I stocked up!
KWZ and the vanilla smell: 🤢 It's too bad, because they have lovely colours. 😢
Aurora blue-black is lovely; I like the little tinge of purple/red I see. I much prefer this type of blue-black than the ones that lean green/grey.

@@basta.dotto_ in fact, I do slightly prefer Herbin Cacao de Brasil for a sepia. I know that some people don't like the Sailor "plasticine" smell either. I've made myself get used to it because I like their blueblack so much 😄

@@breadyegg The Sailor ink smell is not a problem for me; it dissipates rather quickly and doesn't stay in the pen once the ink runs out, as opposed to KWZ's vanilla smell, which gets absorbed by some of my feeds, mostly my ebonite ones. Cacao du Brésil is one of my favorites too, but I have to put it in wet writers. It works really well in my 1911L H-EF through H-MF - skip the H-M which is stingy. I find that the subtle tones of grey get lost in fatter nibs. If you haven't tried it yet, you might like Brun Ours from L'Artisan Pastellier, which looks like R&K Sepia, and works better in my nibs. 😄
