I'm new to fountain pens and playing with inks, and I am interested in brown ink that makes my writing looks like an old manuscript. Thanks to you and your brown diamine inks comparison videos, I chose to buy Diamine Ochre out of their brown varieties and gosh, I love it so much! It looks really good on every journals, be it cream or white papers, I'm absolutely obsessed with it and writing daily with it.

Wonderful! Diamine Ochre is a lovely shade of brown, one of my favourite browns too!

Im a sucker for a good looking brown ink...I have several in my collection. I write with a feather quill half of the time, and use a custom blend of actual ‘organic’ walnut ink and black iron gall. It took a little while to get it where i wanted it to be, but the fuss was worth it. The end result is excellent. Aside form this, I enjoy Platinum Classic sepia-black, Noodler’s Whalemans sepia, Kiowa Pecan. Im trying to get a few of the Akkerman Dutch Masters line right now...great video!

You really don't have to repeat yourself every time you swatch another ink. I understood the purpose of wet and dry pretty quickly.
Other than that, Colorverse "Valles Marineris" has to be hands down one of my favorite inks. It's dark enough you can see it but it's soft enough to be very easy on the eyes. Another beautiful brown is Sailor "Yurameku Sukigokoro." It's usually listed as a teal but it dries to a gorgeous muted brown.

I'll have to check out Yurameku Sukigokoro as I haven't seen that one yet.

The Akkerman Dutch Masters is growing on me; chestnut green-gray subtlety. Nice.

You showed my two favorite browns: Diamine chocolate brown and Akkerman SBRE Brown. Thanks for the brown inks comparison video.

    A well done informative video.
I like the SBRE & ochre comparison's. I do have the sbre brown but next time I will get the ochre, close enough.
Dave, can you do a waterman absolute brown comparison/ alternative replacement next? I am down to 3 sample vials.
Really looking at the toffee brown and I know that montblanc has well behaved inks but the $$$.

Excellent again! I really appreciate your insights and knowledge as to the real makers of inks, etc. BTW, I also like Kaweco Caramel Brown.

I haven't explored Kaweco inks yet, Caramel Brown sounds like one I might have to check out!

All are gorgeous but would love to try a Montblanc brown one day. I only have one MB ink and it is the Brothers Grimm green and I love it. Thank you for sharing.

Thanks for that. Now I've seen Diamine Ochre (which I already have) next to SBREBrown, I am not so sure the difference is so great that it would show up in writing. So I'll just stick with Ochre and not now go searching for SBREBrown which I was toying with getting.

Yeah the two inks in a writing sample are pretty close. It does depend on the nib you put it in though as I find that a wet nib will be quite dark or a dry nib quite light.

Hi Dave, I'm looking for a nice toffeeish brown, warm with an orange undertone, any idea ?

    • @PenultimateDave
      @PenultimateDave  Рік тому +1

I don't think I've really seen a Toffee Brown with warm undertones. Probably closest to Toffee Brown would be Montblanc Toffee Brown. You might find Diamine Ochre might be a little warmer though.

@@PenultimateDave I was thinking perhaps Herbin Ambre de Birmanie ? I'm going to search in your archives.
