I have had this headset for about 4 months now and all I can say is that this headset regardless of the ear cooling is amazing. Ive owned a logitech g series which in my opinion is not comparable, but regardless this Omen headset is crazy. From the built in software to the sounds quality to even the microphone output quality. That heat pump mechanism is named Peltier, and I would have skimmed a slim heat fin design on the outside to improve surface area and keep the surface from getting so hot and thus draw less power.
I'm imagining having a similar design in a gaming mouse, with a large surface area under your palm and a thin fan drawing air and pushing heat out the front.

It may be more interesting if the cooling profile can be adjusted via a physical switch and not software and come with active noise canceling feature.
I probably don't want it for game or home usage (I prefer open back headphone for that too) but for traveling or walking around the city (or in office space when you don't exactly want your co-workers to hear whatever you are watching on the internet), the active cooling headphone made a lot of sense. I live in a very hot place so I almost never use close back headphone at all unless I was in an air-conditioned place and this headphone could just a perfect solution for this environment

I think more companies should do stuff like this. I like what Razer are doing with the Hypersense headphones. It's something new, innovative and considers other aspects of a gaming session/ experience. Though maybe once they perfect their respective sound signatures first!

I like closed back headphones, and after about a hour my ears personally get a little uncomfortably warm. Probably won't set them to max if I do get them, but it would definitely be... ICE to have. :D

i live in Australia where it gets in the 30-40 Degree C (80-100F ?) regularly during summer and i have never had my ears get to uncomfortably hot or even noticeably hot with my closed back fostex th-x00 (which has large leatherette cushions.) without aircon sitting in a small enclosed room with my PC also heating up the room for multiple hours in a day. I mean its an interesting idea but just seems gimmicky. maybe I'm just used to the heat or whatever but even I don't need this. this has never been a problem for me. i know some people get really sweaty which I don't so there is probably a few people that would benefit.

My ears get burning hot for no apparent reason. To the point I have to hold ice cubes to my ears to cool them down and stop them from stinging. They'll be great for me. Plus, they'll make a nice complement to the Omen laptop I'm buying anyway.

In the summer in the uk hot sweaty ears was definitely an issue so I may pick up a pair when the price reduces a bit. I hope they sort out the software oversights.

Hey Dmitri! This kind of cooling system would be perfect for SEA countries like the philippines where it's blistering hot and air conditioning is expensive to keep on all day. Would definitely consider this if hp refines the kinks!

Would love to have this feature on my MSR7 in the summer months, we don't have air conditioners in Denmark, because it's only in recent years that summers becomes extremely uncomfortably hot, especially in my roof apartment.
But I'm never buying a gaming headset, so oh well, gotta find other ways to cool down.

if they can implement this on a headset,it would be amazing if they could do the same to their gaming laptop lineup,it will litreally solve the one and only problem gaming laptop has.

Maybe have it closer 20c instead of 12? I imagine it's difficult to control the temperature to such a fine degree but it has potential in a future version with better software and hardware. I hate gaming headphones in the summer. And improve the mic a bit.

I want a version that costs 200,- but comes with a decent mic and audio drivers, people say they are sub-par but they are much worse, it's barely usable. I returned mine and kept using my Logitech G Pro X wireless headset.
