  • @MyWayofEverything

    Simple upgrades to the lamp would be to drill a hole with a drill bit intended for glass to make the cord come out the bottom and either attach the bowl and vase with glue or add that squishy drawer liner to the bowl to keep it from being glass on glass and so the bowl doesn’t fall off center so easily. Great DIYS! 100% making both myself!

      You could just turn the vase upside down if you wanted the cord to come out the bottom... But you might need some kind of base though cause otherwise it would be much less stable (You'd also want to make sure you didn't spray paint the bottom of the vase so light could come through). I'd just be concerned that drilling into a vase would break it!

      Or maybe some foamy air dry clay around the top of the vase for a more snug fit…and or a circle of clay or hot glue inside the bowl that is smaller than the diameter of the vase. Since there wasn’t much light coming through the bowl anyway it shouldn’t be too visible

    • @zp5016
      @zp5016 2 роки тому +9

      My thoughts to fix that were to either make a craft foam circle thats a bit bigger than circumference of the outside of the vase and glue it to the top to add some stability, or in sorry girls fashion... Hot glue a circle thats a bit bigger than the circumference of the vase 😂

    I watched the video excited to learn how you were going to drill the hole in the glass to pass it through. And then you didn't. Not a fan of the wire coming out of the top, but maybe that's just me. LOVE, LOVE, LOVE finding out about the specific carpet tape, glue, etc. I had no clue so that was a huge help, thanks! I have a jute rug I love, and red wine got spilled on it. Hiding the stain under a bed right now but really wanted to use it in another room. Now I might try actually doing a decorative insert and just cut out the stain.

      Same. I was pretty sure she was going to use a diamond drill bit for this but was curious if she would use another option. A diamond drill bit is fairly inexpensive $10-20 USD at your local hardy store. You can also use the bit to cut holes in pots for drainage.

    I love how the inspo pic of the rug at the start, is the final rug at the end. Hehe the only way I could tell without watching the whole video was because I love that retro chair and would recognise it anywhere 😍

    These are so cute!!!! Omg. I love both of them so much. I feel like the rug would look so nice with one patterned rug and one solid color. It would be so cool. I love the way both of yours turned out and I'm feeling inspired to maybe try it out myself.

    loved how these turned out . i think if you could’ve had the bowl sit slightly above the base and painted to inside white or metallic on top of the orange it would’ve allowed for the light to reflect out a bit . but otherwise 👌🏽👌🏽

    Good job with the lamb. It looks wonderful. Next time when I'm at the thrift store I'll keep a lookout for salad bowls and vases 😄 Great idea to spray the inside of the glas only. Thanks for the tip!

    I'm amazed at the rug! Such a huge project, and you took care of all the details. In the 70's we would have hooked a rug using 2" pieces of yarn but I like your idea of using two rugs. 🤯 I would have tried to haggle the price of that bowl for sure. I do like the lamp and I'm going to look at my glass vase stash now... Great work!

    I've been refinishing old patio furniture and building a patio sectional from cinder blocks and have used so much spray paint. I started with the Krylon paint as primer but switched to Rust-Oleum because I changed colors. OMG the Rust-Oleum covered so much better and faster. It did drip easier too. So the Krylon may be better for slick surfaces like glass but not masonry!

    Becky I really didn't think I was gonna like that rug but wow girl it's so beautiful 😍 loved the mushroom lamp and great tips on spraying little but often, only wish you'd be able to have the wiring come out the bottom of the vase as don't like cords everywhere. Xxx
