I changed the purge valve, vent solenoid and gas cap. Still getting the 0446 code. Now I think i have to smoke the system. It could never be that easy for me
If you drive in very dusty road conditions all the time can you wrap this thing in plastic and tape to prevent premature failure or does it need to breathe?
1 day prior to getting my equinox 07' inspected I filled up the tank, next day my check engine light came on. I checked the cap, on tight. The shop that does my inspections cleared the light, said go drive 30 miles and come back. Still no light, got told to drive it on the highway, go to a parking lot, dont park it, have it like you're at a stop sign for 3 minutes and bring it back. Still no light. Drive it again. In total of 2 days I drove over 160 miles still no light on. I dont know what code came up, I'm being told evap problem. Cant drive it anymore cause I missed the inspection. Mechanic is on vacation. Glad I came here because the video you showed explains a lot to Me. I always try to think outside the box and was wondering if it could be the air filter clogged as I havent changed it in 2 years? That's something I could do before taking it back to the shop. Thanking You in Advance, Dickels
There are hard permanent Codes, which will turn the check engine light on and there will be soft codes which are set in pending code. If you have any pending codes, it won’t pass emissions. That is likely why they are having you drive it to see if the pending code goes away, or if it’s a permanent code. We need to find out what that pending code number is first and then address the problem.
Help please! I have a 2014 chevrolet equinox and I need to replace the Canister. Can you please tell me the steps involved or point me where I can find instructions on how to do it. Thank you
On the new solenoid before putting it in the car is the valve closed. I work in my driveway so I wanted to see if I can access this before I buy one. I removed it and it was open. I am going to look at other videos when there is no power and disconnected if it is supposed to be in a closed position I will replace it.
Typically on most cars they will be in the open position with no power to them which is the way they would be if the car was parked so that when you were filling the car with fuel they are venting the air out so that it won’t kick back when you’re trying to fill the tank. Thanks for watching.
So I’m having issues putting gas in my car, but my check engine light isn’t on, could it still be this or is there a baffle in the tank somewhere in the gas tank?
I've got a 2009 that's getting a fuel system lean code, on a cold start it takes 2 key turns before it will start, but if you start after it's ran it will usually start first crank within 30 minutes of it running. Also on occasion when I take the gas cap off, it releases a large amount of compressed air/games. Any suggestions?
The long crank could be low fuel pressure or leaking injectors. Low pressure requires a couple cranks to get pressure back up. A leaking injector would drop fuel into the cylinders and cause a flooded condition. The pressure in the tank is normal when the system is closed and the temp in the tank rises. Excess pressure should be vented automatically. When it doesn’t , it can cause fuel to be pushed into the engine causing flooding and a hard start. To know for sure, it has to be diagnosed.
mine wouldnt pump gas at all so i cleaned my canister alot of dirt came out now im able to fill up gas but now im connecting some dots... ive been chasing a rich issue maf code and both issues got more bad along with fueling up so would clogged canister cause a rich condition
I replaced that exact part just like you showed, and it's still showing engine light and concerned about it passing inspection emissions. Can that square canister thing?Be the problem and be replaced?
@@dennishavrilla6354 if the canister (square thing) leaks or any part of the system leaks it will code. The purge valve on the engine can also leak and cause this.
Help ...I have a 2008 Saturn Vue 2.4 liter and it's giving me P0449 and intermittently stalls when going slow. I have changed the gas cap and the purge valve ... what else do you suggest ...the vent valve ?
We have replace many vent valves for this issue and sometimes a canister. We use a smoke test machine to verify no leaks and that the valves are working before we replace them.
I have a 2008 equinox and when accelerating it makes a whining kind of vacuum noise but it gave me the P047 code. I’ve replaced canister purge valve and charcoal canister problem still seems to exist. Any advice on what other component can be causing this issue.
It would take some diagnosis hands-on to know for sure because we don’t hear the noise here of course but, the PCV valve was built into the valve cover on the engine that could be passing too much air causing the squeak sound or it could even be coming from something other external such as a belt drive. Without hearing it our self we just don’t know for sure but we have seen some noises come from vacuum leaks on the engine and PCV systems flowing too much.
I'm not sure how the 2008's are compared to the 2006's but the pcv valve hose that hooks to the air filter housing after the mass airflow sensor leading on the firewall side of the motor under the coil pack was disconnected mine.
I keep getting code P0442, Chevy equinox 2014. My Pcv hose, that connects to the valve cover (the rubber part )is cracked. Could this cause a small Evap leak?
I have a 2012 chevy Equinox v6, 140K miles and I'm trying to figure out why my check engine light and stabilitrak light comes on after fueling up. I get the P0300 code and the mode 6 shows a small evap leak. The check engine light will go out after a few seconds but the car will run rough until I pull over, turn off the car and then restart it. I've replaced the spark plugs, gas cap, ignition coils, MAP Sensor, MAF sensor, throttle body, intake manifold gasket and had a fog test done by the dealer with no findings. Could this vent solenoid on the canister or the purge valve cause this problem?
The canister may be plugged. If f it is plugged or the purge valve is stuck open for it can cause heavy fuel vapors to cause a rich condition and the p0300 misfire code.
The purge valve could be leaking some or the canister may be saturated with fuel and the valve sticking. It may need a canister and vent valve. That can be checked using a smoke machine but they need to be looking for internal leaks not outside evap leaks.
It can make it so hard to fill that when you turn the nozzle on high filling the tank it can click off every 1 to 2 seconds. Also, if you have refueled the car, once you start it tue car may die after a few seconds of running and do that a couple more times until it clears itself out.
@@terrycarver1255 if the canister is leaking fuel it is bad. A flooded canister won’t vent and take fuel. If a car tank is ever filled past it’s first click it will start to flood with gas and eventually ruin the canister.
My engine light turned on by that, could it be that it turned on because it was almost out of gas?, after the AutoZone guy gave me the code it turned off Regards
