I Made my own Smoke Tester it's very easy to make all you Need is a Windshield wiper fluid Pump and 2 Pieces of Rubber Hose for the Inlet and the Outlet and an Electric Vape Pen Works really Well. 👍
Good info. We have this same year of AWD Equinox with the 3400 v6 and it’s been a great, dependable vehicle for us with replacing wheel bearings being the only repeat issue. Got it with 83000 miles 5.5 years ago and it now has 224,000 miles on it. My husband’s daily driver. No engine or transmission problems at all. Want to find another one under 100k miles, truthfully. The newer stuff seems to have nothing but problems.
Definitely going to go buy a original gas cap. I changed the purge solenoid and some other piece that plugs into the charcoal canister. Large leak was still showing. As customers we are so quick to go to the auto part store and pay $20 instead of a possibly $50 for something so small. Thanks for the information. We learn daily.😊
(2007 Chevy Equinox) - My issue was a substantial reduction in miles per gallon (much more City miles than Hwy miles - was getting about 170 miles per tank instead of about 260 miles per tank). CARR Chevrolet Service Department (Beaverton, OR) could not find the problem (but charged me over $400 just for looking and not finding anything). Years later, my car throws an EVAP code (P0455) and Honest 1 Auto Care (Hillsboro, OR) found that my Canister Purge Valve needed to be replaced (it was stuck OPEN). Problem solved. They ran a smoke test first and did not find any smoke leaks.
If you think CARR was bad, definitely stay away from Ron Tonkin Chevrolet service. Heard mixed reviews about Honest1, but mostly positive. My 300ZX had a lot of service done there before I owned it.
Your videos are awesome! Keep it up brother! This video reminded me - I currently had a customer bring me a ‘05 Equinox, wouldn’t stay running. I pop the hood and see the MAF plug sensor harness has been ripped out. This particular year has TWO tan wires in the plug (it’s a 5-pin). Do you know where I can find the pinout w/ voltage? Cannot find it in any of my databases. And it’s got a P0449, that’s what brought me here! 😂 Thanks!
Since you do so much Chrysler stuff on this channel, as I'm sure you know Chrysler vehicles have a positive pressure system on their evaps with the pump often to blame for evap codes. Also, the code setting criteria for Chrysler products is a certain temperature range above freezing and below 90 I think with the gas tank being between 3/4 and 1/4 full. Not saying to use this knowledge to work around state emissions, but useful for diagnostics if you can't repro a stored code
Have a chevy like this, have a fuel smell coming out, right idle trouble starting sometimes would that be something like the charcoal canister or purge valve solenoid, or something like the egr valve
Would’ve given it to her for free…My wife is an auto broker and buys and sells Equinoxs all the time, and she keeps them for when she runs into that issue. Plus as a business owner, I always make sure I have customer replace this with new parts as to not run into this issue in the future. Even if its as small as a gas cap.

Only thing I had an issue with is why you wouldn't just sell her your gas cap since you were scrapping the car.
