Welcome back to Episode 6 of our Automotive Myth Busters series, where we dive deep into the misconceptions surrounding car tuning and modifications. In this episode, we tackle the popular belief that a 9th gen Civic Si requires a tune after installing a downpipe. We'll show you why a tune isn't necessary for the installation itself, but it's essential if you're aiming for performance gains.
We also explore the wider implications of this myth for other modifications and car types, providing you with the knowledge you need to make informed decisions about your vehicle. Furthermore, we discuss the crucial differences between street tuning and dyno tuning. Learn about the potential dangers of street tuning and why dyno tuning in the safety of a shop is the superior choice for your car and your wellbeing.
Lastly, we bust the myth that building a high-power car requires a budget of $10,000 or more. Discover how, especially with Honda builds, you can achieve impressive results without breaking the bank.
Join us as we debunk these myths, backed by our expertise and in-house experiences. Whether you're a seasoned tuner or just starting out, this episode is packed with valuable insights that could save you time, money, and ensure your safety.

Great info as always. I think the "10k+ for high HP builds" myth gained a lot of traction because people see a lot of people blowing up their motors when they boost them (even the 400-500 hp builds). I even find myself kind of hesitant at the idea of supercharging my SI (my goal is ~350hp), because I always hear that the 6th speed K-series transmission are like glass.
Thanks for watching and commenting, I just hate seeing younger people discouraged thinking it can't be done correctly on a budget. Yes, some parts you should never skimp out on but other parts you can buy used an saved. Not everyone has 5 or 10k to just spend.
Thank you, for making these videos..
So, so much misinformation.. That's what has discouraged me in my car. A lot of forums with bad attitude or being un helpful. Ex: I wanted to do a manual swap 6speed, you have ppl say, " Just buy another manual car, it easier. Or it's a waste of time" and it shuts down others from helping. I'm still stuck at a crossroad on what to do next.
You're welcome and thanks for watching. There's a lot of bad attitudes in this industry that can easily kill someone's attitude in this scene. Gotta brush it off a little bit but also realize if someone that knows a thing or two is telling you something you may not wanna hear, it may be wise to see it from there view point. We had a few customers lately that wanted to build something really different, we're talking about putting a Honda engine into a Cadillac, or sticking an LS engine into a new Honda. Anything is possible but the amount of money for a custom project like that can easily get up there quickly. I think these customers were upset that being that different would cost that much money. Now does that mean we're being rude or mean, no, could they have took it that way, sure. What year and model is the vehicle you speak of?
Thank you for the honesty man. You're right, if its too good to be true, it probably isn't. There's a lot of shady stuff on especially eBay, but also in other places like Amazon.
Thanks for watching and commenting. You're 100% right, and unfortunately amazon even allows the sale of counterfeit parts. One being ngk spark plugs.
Good stuff....keep it coming
Thanks for watching
I love what you said at the end. My kswap is a Mashup of brand name, China knock off, junkyard and oem parts. Ive had both good and bad luck either way. My philosophy is as long as it works I don't care who made it.
Some stuff is ok to go a little cheaper, other stuff though, definitely not.
Thanks for watching
Thanks!
Good seeing you king ;)
Great vids keep them coming!
Thanks for watching
Was this video sponsored by Temu? I just ran out and got a wideband for $10! Cant wait to make that powe.
Hahaha, let me know how it works Rick
I would love for you to teach me how to tune..thanks brother for your vids and info
Thanks for watching, I do offer private tuning sessions.
The Dyno is a tool, it should be used as one. Street tuning is all about drivability. Not power. So best is both!
Similar to the downpipe, I have a K&N Typhoon intake on my 8th gen with no tune and the car runs fine, sounds great. Am I getting all of the performance benefits of this mod? No. But the car is okay
Hey, you atleast know you're not getting all the performance you could. That's the biggest thing, having the proper info and not being gaslighted by someone
Thanks for watching
