Hildegard Hendrickson could've been EASILY made to disappear if the person or persons had a van size transport? Within a few hours the body could be removed from the scene and no one would even supsect it was them. As for your channel? I love how you just present the case and ideas but, never try to present one thing as what MUST'VE happened unike certain channels who just play to the viewers personal biases in favour. Cue Paulides presenting this case in a way which never adheres to it being mysterious while putting the suggestion in the viewers minds who wanted it anyway. OR just presenting a incomplete picture as meaning one thing. Social media is now a place where any bullshitter or liar can present any old con and convince people who apparently are too lazy or THICK to think for themselves and examine the validity of what they've been told. And, missing people's cases are now just an excuse to publish dogshit 'mysterious' 'truths' at the expense of the victim's lives. Pathetic. David
Sorry for your loss. I wish people would stop going to these national Park's they have so many missing people who go there and are never found again. I'm Indigenous and there is so many different things on Mother Earth. I seen a few and we have stories about them. There also is portals and if she walked into one they will never find her. Again I'm so sorry about your grandmother 😢
@@bradleymadosh911 I have to tell you i disagree. My grandmother's disappearance was tragic and she passed on well before she should have, but she was doing something she loved and every time I go into the Cascade mountains I can feel her spirit and that's the reason I started hiking and sparked my love for the outdoors.
On top of all her other accomplishments, Hildegard was also an incredible genealogist with extensive published works and one of the worlds top experts on Appalachian Kentucky genealogy. Her contributions are invaluable (and selfless- she donated all proceeds of her books to the Asher Family Reunions). She is profoundly missed.
It's such a shame. I just wish she'd not gone out there alone. Surely as an experienced mushroom-hunter she knew what kind of shady types were likely to be up there in a well-known morel spot fighting over the resource. Sometimes I think that older women like me can over-rely on our grandmotherly appearance and feistiness to protect us, as if all these criminal men will just think, "Awwww, she's just like my sweet, harmless Grandma" and treat us with deference and respect. But it's far more likely these guys will just see us as annoying but easily dispatched victims..
@@Pipsqwak... Sadly, the world is a different place today, even than what it was just 25 or 30 years ago. Younger adults today, have no inherent respect for the elderly as we had when we were their age. Times have certainly changed. It's for this reason, everyone, yes, including little ole grandma's and granddads should carry protection and not be to compassionate to use it, when in areas with shady characters.
Physical therapist here. Just a quick note: walking uphill with a bad knee is way more doable than you would assume. Downhill on the other hand is hella painful and debilitating, no matter what type of knee injury you have. Maybe she got up somewhere but physically couldn't come down again. But no matter what happened: my condolences to the family. I can only imagine what they were going through. Rest peacefully, Hildegard. ❤️ [Edit: My comment is made in reference to what was said during the site visit. 😊 Hope that makes it more clear.]
@@fineacornWell, all I can say is I've sincerely seen and heard it all. Patients come in, get better and all of the sudden they come in and it is worse than ever. When inquiring I often get some form of: "I could move again, so doing [insert strenuous activity here] felt like a good idea." Hildegard was very experienced and probably pretty confident in her abilities. And she was hiking a more difficult terrain apparently. What starts out to be a good day, doesn't necessarily mean it stays like that, especially when one is exerting themselves. Sorry about the spelling and all, English is not my first language. 🙈 So I want to make one thing very clear: I do not blame her for what happened to her. First we don't know what happened, and secondly I know too well how important it is for elderly people to stay independent and keep doing what they love. I don't ever judge anyone for having a hard time accepting that their limits hinder them to a greater degree.
There are so many scumbags out there nowadays, junkies and otherwise, that any way they can possibly go out and get something for free and then sell it for cash, there WILL be a black market GUARANTEED. trust me. In Florida when it's Saw Palmetto berry season, you get people trespassing on your property in the middle of the night trying to pick berries, coming right up into your yard, or crawling around on their knees on your property in the middle of the day so as not to be seen, or you'll be on a bike trail in the woods and see people ducking out of sight when you come along, as they're hiding picking berries off palmetto bushes, so they can go and sell them for cash. I mean it's a HUGE problem. The police arrest people left and right, by the truckloads, for felony trespass during berry season. And it's just like with the mushrooms, if you have a person picking berries illegally in an area, and somebody else shows up to pick, it gets violent, and even deadly sometimes. It's absolutely unbelievable what people will do, and how they act, for cash crops and the allure of easy money. So the fact that Hildegard was probably killed by someone over something to do with mushrooms does not surprise me one bit.
Hildegard confronted illegal pickers and was abducted and killed. Because she was removed from the area, there was nothing for dogs to alert on. She was likely taken from the parking lot, as her mushrooms and personal belongings were found in her car. Her phone being there is particularly a suspicious sign. Unfortunately there are so many possible suspects, although Jeremy seems especially interesting, as he had personal history of angry confrontations with Hildegard. She would have recognized him and he would have known it. It’s tragic that no activity is safe from people who are willing to harm others. I hope someday the perpetrator(s) will be apprehended and punished.
I agree with this theory... but what gets me is why they didn't at least do forensics on the man's van! ... He was the only real suspect, they could've at least done that!
I’d bet a large amount of money that Alonso and his companion in the vehicle behind were there to collect those 30+ bags of morels under the cover of darkness. That doesn’t mean he killed Hildegard, but it’s sketchy as can be.
Hildegard sounds like such an amazing woman! The world needs more of humans like her! I can't even imagine the grief & despair her family & friends must be going through. Not having answers is devastating. My condolences to her family ❤
@@HubCityMan Please don’t compare Missing Enigma to Missing 411. Missing Enigma sticks to the facts and doesn’t leave them out when convenient so the story seems more mysterious. Just my opinion.
@jfrancis98 Paulides just sticks to cases that meet the profile points that meet missing 411 criteria. Not sure he purposely leaves anything out but I could be wrong. I don't really care either way. Just a way to kill time listening to these bizarre stories
The most probable cause of Hildegard is she confronted a commercial picker and threatened to alert authorities. The situation escalated and her body was moved to a different location.
It's possible but why in the world would anyone alone in the woods especially a senior citizen start an argument with someone. It's always best to mind your own business and keep walking.
@@LeL-q9e Because there are plenty of senior citizens (and other ages) who like to share their opinion with other people regardless of the situation. Not everyone has the same awareness of possible danger.
Some greedy bastard of a morel hunter probably got scolded by Mrs Hildegard and took offense, and retribution by murdering the lady. She was probably a firecracker when mad and threatened the wrong individuals. May she rest in peace. Ive been waiting all month for another excellent video from you and of course you never disappoint. Nobody does outdoorsman (and women) mysteries like you, my dude and this particular episode is one of your best!!
Mainstream media is ran by the CIA, from mainstream news to blockbuster movies. It has zero to do with reporting anything and everything to do with keeping people in fear or triggered.
No one does 'missing' as well as you on here; incredible meticulous research with great narration and your artwork is amazing. Thanks for all your work.
I put on the video, being an avid Morel hunter, I get really excited about it. So I am watching and think to myself, "wow, she's old what was she thinking! " Then walk past a mirror and think.... "Oh! So am I but I went out last year. You silly hypocrite!"
I'm all for being open minded to super natural events as I've had some experiences I can't explain, but Paulides purposefully leaves out facts of his missing 411 cases. Once you get the whole story a lot of his cases don't seem that mysterious. What's scary is that he used to be law enforcement.
@@cabooseabs6864 I couldn't agree more. Paulides does leave out facts that do not agree with his theories. I too have had experiences that are hard to explain, but I don't think Big Foot is hiding behind every tree. Paulides does.
As a fellow morel mushroom hunter I can attest to the fact that once you find several, it definitely motivates to go deeper. And it becomes easy to get turned around
Yes, it shouldn't be this way, but Humans are the most dangerous predators, especially when you may be alone in a remote location. Certainly most people you meet are just fine, but I've read and researched concerning sketchy foreigners doing illegal activities as described here with this disappearance.
Agreed. I recently was out getting ramps for dinner along a river. They grow across an acre or so every spring. I saw someone else almost certainly commercially harvesting with tons of five gallon buckets. They looked pretty stressed and edgy, like they were living rough. On one hand, I was thinking, well I guess they really need the money so don't judge. On the other hand, I was thinking, now there's going to be nothing left to harvest next year - they're going to wipe it all out. I should ask them to be sure to leave some to keep the harvest going every year. Bottom line, I got a few ramps and went on my way. No way was I going to call them out, even with my great dog by my side.
@@StephenYuill Darn right. There are cartels growing the devil's lettuce at grows deep in the woods. Legalization hasn't impacted the business like advocates said it would. Not when the high taxes means the illicit stuff is half the price.
Believe it or not, morel picking is so lucrative it attracts a large criminal element. On account of many gourmet restaurants buying said mushrooms practically no questions asked.
So they buy mushrooms from people who are not experts? That’s scary. I think recently a woman died from eating a mushroom in a restaurant. Unless it was an old video but I think it was new. There’s a big case in Australia right now where a woman allegedly murdered three people by poisonous mushrooms.
I am also an expert mycologist, and I have run into other humans who seem to be those exact 'commercial pickers'. Some of them are indeed very territorial, much like ticked off Grizzly Bears. That's what they remind me of, any how. Or, a ticked off and very territorial badger, perhaps. I have been accosted by people like that twice, when I still lived in my birth state of Montana. I was threatened with physical violence in one of those cases, but once I explained that I was born in the area, am an expert mycologist, and have been coming to that particular spot long before that person was even born, he eventually backed off. I also offered to show him other spots to find Morels, just trying to be polite, but also fearing for my life somewhat. He did not take me up on the offer and I am glad he didn't. However, I have heard of other mushroom hunters being threatened and harmed by these commercial pickers, who seem to think they now own all of our forests. This territorial crap didn't start until the late 1980's through the 1990's, and currently, it is even worse. It happens a lot in Montana, Idaho and Washington, because there is such a large amount of Morels, especially in the recently burned areas, of which there are unfortunately many nowadays. I often wonder if it isn't these commercial pickers who start these huge forest fires and conflagrations. It is actually quite likely, which is very sad. It is also very sad that humans continue to act in this way. It makes our species totally untrustworthy in my opinion. I am afraid that this is exactly what happened to Hildegarde, since nothing else really makes any logical sense. Accident? She would have been found, then. She was accosted by some nasty and territorial commercial picker or pickers, and was made to disappear. It's really horrible that you can be out trying to enjoy one of your favourite hobbies, and that you can be dispatched for doing so by terrible, bad examples of humanity. It is also why I have begun to carry a weapon with me when hunting fungi, any more. I am actually preparing to go hunt for Morels right now, when I am done watching this video. They are out here in Minnesota as of now, and I know where to find some. No other people where I am going, as it is my friend's private property. I really hope that Hildegarde is found someday soon. Even though it would just be a recovery, it would give her friends and family some peace of mind, and they deserve that. Great video as always, and thanks for covering this and all cases that you do.
@@EvaWarhead You are most welcome. I tried to reply earlier, but my posts keep on disappearing. Not sure why that should be, but I will try once more. I am glad that my original post helps paint a more vivid picture of the situation. It actually enrages me, that there are humans out there, even in our forests, who are so hateful and evil, that they would do something horrible to an elderly female like Hilda. To anyone, for that matter! I do also think that it is those exact Commercial Pickers, who start most of the huge forest fires and conflagrations. It is something our government and we ourselves, are going to need to address very, very soon. We are losing all of our forests to the Commercial Pickers, who obviously don't care about the planet, its environments, or other humans. They need to be stopped. The burning of our National Forests must cease. Have a great day, and all the best.
You almost wish the sheriff went and checked out that other car that turned around when they stopped the Hispanic man. This whole mushrooming hunting is new to many & never knew the demand & how lucrative it can be for these poachers. Great job Nick!
I thought the same thing. Two vehicles brazenly bypassing a police barricade. Then I saw the video of the actual road which looks like it can only just accommodate one vehicle. Wouldn't seem like the officer could catch up to the second vehicle if this Alonso person was in the way perhaps stalling him.
@@crazysilly2914 i think it could have been Jeremy in that second vehicle, i speculate that Gray, Alonzo, and Christopher were all working for him, they all stashed mushrooms in a similar way and were all up there around the same time, it would also explain why Chris made those veiled threats (he knew what happened to her). It is also possible that they were returning from disposing of the body.
You did AMAZING work on this, Nick! Props also to local LE, too, for doing it right. I’ve never seen such a remote place so full of people. Gary’s aggression toward everyone pings my radar. I fear a spirited Hildegard confronted one of these unsavory types, & they caused her fatal harm. Millions of places out there to commit a criminal act & hide evidence. This one smacks of foul play for sure.
I lived in Everett when this happened. Strangely, never heard about it until now. But you're 100% right that the mushroom scene up there gets weird. Only had two experiences with them, but they were enough. Had a guy I worked with who was into them. Anyone mentions anything about going into the woods he'd get real close and whisper that if we saw any mushrooms to let him know because he has a buyer and will give you a cut. Not sure if he was legal or not, but anytime the topic came up it felt like talking to a drug dealer. The second was when I went shooting near Darrington with a buddy. We were getting unloaded when a guy walks up, looking strung out on something, and an Ikea bag full of mushrooms telling us we can't look for them there because it was illegal. I told him we're not here to look for shrooms. "Then what are you here for?" "Shooting" my buddy said while he was taking out his FAL. Then the guy saw my AK in my truck and just told us to have a nice day and walked away. Very glad I was armed that day. I will say the society up there was great. They used to have a fair every year that I found myself at. Great people and very knowledgeable.
That beautiful one of a kind necklace that she was probably wearing that day would not have escaped the attention of an attacker. I wonder if, during the investigation, they checked into pawn shops in the Seattle area?
@@randyhebbebusche3644 Maybe right now, but after a while, whoever has it may think things have died down and try to sell it to someplace further away from the area. Never overestimate the intelligence of criminals.
I really appreciate these videos where you go to the site where the person went missing. It's always so different to what I had imagined from the original story. This landscape is much more rugged than I had pictured for a story of a 79 year old woman going missing hunting mushrooms. Great work!
@@ericbutler739 it’s been that way since the beginning of time except now the news is distributed straight to your face instead of lost in time like it was for 1000s of years before the age of technology
I’ve been hunting mushrooms for decades, and certain types hide well in the foliage and duff. It requires a lot of attention, and if you’re in an area that you don’t know extremely well, it’s pretty easy to look up and suddenly realize you don’t have any idea where you are.
I don't understand how your channel doesn't have more subscribers. You make some of the best content on tye platform, the way you approach every case with logic is mind is amazing. And the respect you have for the people involved. You are the man.
Mushroom hunter here. It's worth mentioning just how much morel mushrooms sell for especially fresh. If they aren't dried, they go bad quickly. I've seen morels sell for $220 a pound. It goes up and down a lot. If she walked up on a bunch of drunk illegal mushroom hunters, there is no telling what happened.

Unfortunately, you are most likely correct. Drugs are responsible for SO many deaths/disappearances, and, although it's a minority of the time, it's not ALWAYS those taking/dealing drugs.
Who hides their stash on the side of a road where the potential wondering old woman could easily slowly walk up and see it? If they are that careless with their stash what makes you think they can make a body dissappear along with any trace of their presence? But maybe
Her limited walking ability, the nature of morel sites, the unlocked car and undisturbed belongings, the lack of findings and the failure of the search dogs: she was never missing from the trailhead. Someone took her away from there in another vehicle. Likely deceased already.
This exactly. Searchers were very thorough with dogs tracking, etc. I have hunted mushrooms in the area. It’s easy to get rid of a body out here. Vast wilderness areas, wild animals to get rid of evidence.
@@LilyGazouthe Vast wilderness tells me that she possibly couldn't walk anymore due to her bad knees. The searchers couldn't find her in the woods bc it's so vast
Idk, there have been cases where huge search parties fan out and search miles from where someone went missing… and 10+ years later they’re found not far from where they disappeared. The woods is just a beast to search thoroughly.
Yes, he does such a great job, with compassion for the missing and their loved ones. And he's not just a talking head -- he gets out there and shows us what the scene looks like. Another great job by M.E.!
Bless her heart 💕 Someone took her from that area and left where she won't be found. As an amateur mycologist my heart breaks at the loss of a kindred spirit 😢
Its wonderful to have a new Missing Enigma early on Saturday. Mushroom people can be very competitive. I used to do alot of picking and have witnessed some squabbles. If someone offed her they had alot of great terrain to hide a body. This maybe one of your first actual mysterious missing person cases. Good job Nick.
Another great episode! Music choice is always perfect...so mysterious and eerie and beautiful. What keeps running through my mind is why someone so knowledgeable and experienced, who trained others NEVER to hunt mushrooms alone, would go off and do just that? Was it over-confidence? What other reason would she have had for doing such a thing? She was well-aware of her physical limitations, so why? That part just baffles me. I agree though, with no trace at all, I think it was most probably foul play. How disgusting that a pastime as beautiful and calming as mushroom gathering is yet another ruined by greedy and nefarious criminals. My bet is on Jeremy too. Trust Hildegard's words, not her actions: NEVER mushroom hunt alone. RIP Hildegard.
I know a few edgy people who do not believe they fit into society and do not want people from society telling them what to do and heavily supplement their income selling mushrooms, ramps ect. Just a month or so ago a met a stranger in the woods looking for morels who openly stated his words “I was just released from being locked up for 4 years and I’m out trying to make some money” Leave these people alone! Desperate people do desperate things.
Desperate times call for Desperate measures is true but there were lots of mushrooms for everyone so don't think they the so called Desperate ppl were that desperate although everything should be considered
@@kevinhullinger8743 good point as anything is possible what could've happened to her but seems unlikely without her body that anyone will find what happened to her. Speculating is just that without any actual evidence. Bc bad ppl exist it was unwise of her to go alone but perhaps she had become too complacent and or had noone to come with her that day. All things considered, she is probably still in the area just farther than ppl had looked amd most likely scenario imo is that she wandered out too far and couldn't make it back with her bad knees. But again, I have no evidence to rule out other possibilities just like everyone here is speculating too
mate i've watched a couple videos of yours now, and I must say you do an incredible job. I often scour the internet or google maps trying to find photos or video of the locations of these missing cases, and for you to take the time to include your own personal visit and document the area like you have here is next level. When you're watching from the other side of the world, you've given us a first hand look right into the story and that cannot be overstated how much I appreciate it. Subscribed, and I look forward to binging your entire channel! Keep up the great work. Cheers from Australia.
I was watching the video and was going to comment about how protective & secretive some mushroom foragers can be, as I know some people in France who are so serious about their regular Morel spots, the mushrooms are ridiculously valuable. But of course you have it covered. Great vid as always.
Fresh morel mushrooms can sell for $20 a pound in grocery stores, with dried morels reaching prices of $15-$20 per ounce, equating to roughly $160 per pound. People have killed for a lot less. If she came across someone and threatened to report them (Hilde doesn't seem like the kind of lady to take any guff from anyone), it seems very likely that they forced her to their vehicle and left, disposing of her elsewhere.
What I expected: poor old lady goes missing and likely fell victim to some kind of accident. What I got: Lucrative criminal underworld of murderous mushroom hunters.
You do an amazing job telling stories. You're a great researcher and detective. You should consider becoming a private investigator. Or even consider starting an organization that helps those that have had loved ones go missing. You would be an invaluable asset to the many people out there searching for answers about their loved ones. I have stopped listening to almost anyone else that tells stories about missing people besides you. You make sense and you have facts to support what you say. Not just bs made up to get listeners. Keep doing what you do. I'm sure many others feel the same way I do.
Watch enough true crime and you realize that the threat of punishment often causes someone to do the unthinkable . So if there were these large picker crews brought in to camp out in the area off the beaten path, harvest and store the mushrooms in containers, then she sees these cashes of mushrooms or the pickers moving them it would only be one bad decision away from her death. Then they could take her remains and put them in one of these hard to reach areas under a blow down. The searchers wouldn't work their dogs on a real steep area thinking she would never go down there on her own. If she was put under debris the smell wouldn't be as strong, which is how it was described when it was noticed. This sounded like a bumper crop which means profit could be more than we realize and money makes people do terrible things. I really enjoy your channel and tell and share as much as possible. I hope other subs are doing the same because you deserve it.
Illegal commercial harvesting would have to be done with the least amount of detection. It would be impossible to to fill and stash 32 bins during the day. My guess is Alonso and others worked during the night filling and hiding bins for Jeremy. This "nosey old lady" (I mean no disrespect) discovers their bins/operation and is dealt with. With Jeremy, Alonso, and others showing up, it is just too coincidental. These guys are ALL dirty. I cannot help but mention the obvious. My most sincere condolences to this incredible lady's family and friends.
And since they disappeared her and realized the cops were up there Jeremy told Alonso and co to go pick up those 32 bins before they got found. They didn't expect a cop to be guarding the scene all night. So the mushrooms they killed that old hag for got found and taken anyway. She died for nothing. The lesson here is MYOB! Especially when ur alone deep in the wrong part of the woods. Never get between criminals and their money.
@@GodsThirdEye I've met a few, and the illegal harvesters are shady characters; and/or have mental issues, addictions, etc. They're people who typically can't survive the demands of a normal job situation, so turn to this to survive. They're anything but stable. I'd bet my house she ran afoul with one of them.
Jeremy was on my radar immediately. The fact that Hildegard was safety conscious even though she was outspoken makes me think that she wouldn't start an argument with a person that she suspected was an organised illegal picker but that knowing Jeremy and finding him doing illegal picking she would have felt comfortable to confront him. Also in the past we have seen that killers want to come back to the scene and try to involve themselves in a way. But the main reason I look at Jeremy is because in these little societies of mushroom pickers or other interest groups, they can be deadly aggressive to each other because of all of their strong opinions. Here in Australia Brisbane we seen it happen in a Cat Society and I've heard of other deadly encounters within small societies that are very invested in their own opinions. It's a shame the police didn't take away Jeremy's car for testing incase the body was taken away from the area. If it wasn't foul play and she just had an accident they would have found her body

I’m afraid she confronted the wrong person. You have to be very careful out there. I have run into some pretty hinky people outdoors, the farther out the worse it gets. It sounds like the SAR and Law Enforcement did a great job on this case.
Is there no sphere of human endeavour that hasn't been turned into a criminal enterprise by someone? This one sounds like an episode of Twin Peaks but you have knocked it out of the park again with your superb research and attention to detail. It always amazes me when people confront others without any backup. I guess we can't know that happened here, but I've seen it in other cases, and it it mind blowing to me.
I agree, especially when they can't defend themselves! Don't they consider the consequences? You never know what someone else is going through or capable of, so be careful!

I like how this channel actually goes through every specific detail with theses missing 411 cases and even provides the original police reports and sometimes visits the locations to give an idea of how the areas are. I’m open minded when it comes to the paranormal/unexplained but this channel makes a lot of the “paranormal” cases seem more logical such as the Dennis Martin case and the Yuba City 5
Yeah, I've got no time or patience for the ridiculous "paranormal" crap. I find it stupid, childish, and utterly disrespectful of the real grief and horror experienced by missing victims and their families.
@@PipsqwakI'm not someone who ever had any kind of opinions on the paranormal until I had a TRULY unexplainable and bizarre experience that I could only categorize as "paranormal". So my money is on alonso, and this is why. The fact that he came back at night is strange. He said he wanted to camp, but it's also strange that you would go looking for a campsite in the dead of night. The fact that he crossed a police barrier makes me think that he had a very important reason for doing so, and he probably wasn't counting on the fact that there was an actual officer posted there to secure the scene. Possibly he may have harmed Hildegard and removed her body with his truck, and had recruited a family member or friend to come back and dispose of it after hours. And that would explain why the other vehicle turned around once they realized that there was a deputy stationed at the area. Perhaps the second vehicle was carrying hildegard's body and when they saw that there was an officer parked past the barrier, that vehicle turned around, while Alonso continued toward the officer to distract the officer from checking up on the other vehicle as it made the getaway. Because I feel like once they realized there was a patrol car, it would have been expected that both vehicles would have turned around. I mean who wants to have an interaction with police if you don't have to, especially if you're a shady character. The fact that the accompanying car turned around, but Alonso didn't makes me think that Alonso continued on toward the officer to be a decoy to keep the officer occupied so that the other car could turn back and get out of the area. Just a theory, but I think that makes a lot of sense. I think it's pretty obvious that there was foul play involved, or they would have found SOMETHING of this woman. The fact that a dozen or so different dogs weren't able to track her scent beyond the immediate area makes me think she never left the close proximity of her car and was taken from the area by vehicle. One dog is fallible, but 10 or 12 trained dogs? no way. All those dogs would have found SOMETHING if her remains were anywhere in the vicinity. So I feel like she was harmed, then removed from the area, or vice versa. Maybe then whoever took her (Alonso) panicked and decided to try and bring her back and make it look like an accident? Who knows. But the whole "camping" story and the fact that they so desperately wanted to camp in the area that they crossed a police barrier, and the fact that one car turned around but the other didn't, it just all seems way more suspicious than anyone or anything else I've heard about having to do with this story. Like I said, what sense does it make to decide to go camping and attempt to find a campsite in the middle of the night, in an area that's been cordoned off? But I think the main thing for me is the fact that the one car turned and left, while Alonso approached the officer. Just seems like there was purpose behind that move and it's classic decoy behavior. Anyway, that's my theory. That's what popped into my head immediately when it said that the other car turned and left. Alonso was buying them time to get out of the area. Whatever the case, I hope that remains are eventually found, and are brought home to her family so that they can have some peace and some closure. What an awful existence to never know what became of your mother, or to always wonder where she is or what she went through in her last moments. Prayers for her, and for her son and family.
This reminds me of the woman hiking the Appalachian Trail and went off the trail to go to the bathroom. She lost her way back to the trail. They found her body and a diary years later.

I have a case you might be interested in covering, and thats the case of one Chance Englebert, from Moorcroft, Wyoming, USA. He disappeared after walking away from the home of his wife's family, only once being seen walking in a store security camera. He left behind his wife, newborn, and friends and family when he disappeared in 2019 and nothing has ever been found of him. I have plenty more details if you're interested
I thought he got into an argument with his in-laws while golfing and walked away from the course. I always thought the in-laws ended up picking him up acting like they wanted to work things out then Wacked him.
Excellent coverage of this case. I think poor Hildegard ran afoul of some desperate and deranged illegal mushroom hunter who couldn't afford another report of them to the police. I really appreciate you on location. I've been hiking in wilderness areas in my time and yeah, even young and in shape those deadfalls are difficult to traverse.
Doesn't the report from Wanda saying that they had been to that location a few days prior contradict what Igor said about her mentioning that she's never been to that area and needing directions from him?
Investigators should have tried to connect Igor to Jeremy. They both knew her and they were both in the area when she went missing. I feel that Igor knows more than he's told
I appreciate the effort you put into audio quality/production in your videos, too many UA-camrs don't make the effort and it's hard to listen on studio headphones or a home theatre system.

Pathetic.

It's such a shame. I just wish she'd not gone out there alone. Surely as an experienced mushroom-hunter she knew what kind of shady types were likely to be up there in a well-known morel spot fighting over the resource. But no matter what happened: my condolences to the family. I can only imagine what they were going through. Which is the reason someone with a bad knee wouldn't walk up a hill, knowing they'd have to walk down....

So true about the downhills being tougher. Still recovering from a shattered knee and downhills/downstairs are tough.
@@fineacornWell, all I can say is I've sincerely seen and heard it all. Patients come in, get better and all of the sudden they come in and it is worse than ever. When inquiring I often get some form of: "I could move again, so doing [insert strenuous activity here] felt like a good idea."
Hildegard was very experienced and probably pretty confident in her abilities.
Morels aren't quite as cherished as truffles but in that same ballpark. Restaurants and farmer's market shoppers will pay a lot of money for them.
I used to pick there. But I’d rather just work a job, not risk death.
If she minded her own business with people like Jeremy then it would have been a perfectly safe activity to pursue.
It's not wise to confront people stronger than you
The average person wouldn't kill you over mushrooms. This was a very dangerous sociopath most likely.

To anyone, for that matter! I do also think that it is those exact Commercial Pickers, who start most of the huge forest fires and conflagrations. The second was when I went shooting near Darrington with a buddy. We were getting unloaded when a guy walks up, looking strung out on something, and an Ikea bag full of mushrooms telling us we can't look for them there because it was illegal. I told him we're not here to look for shrooms.
"Then what are you here for?"
"Shooting" my buddy said while he was taking out his FAL. Then the guy saw my AK in my truck and just told us to have a nice day and walked away. Very glad I was armed that day.

I love having a real look at where these people have gone missing. It gives a real connection to them and makes it feel more...real. Well done.

I was watching the video and was going to comment about how protective & secretive some mushroom foragers can be, as I know some people in France who are so serious about their regular Morel spots, the mushrooms are ridiculously valuable. But of course you have it covered. Great vid as always.
Thanks for the upload 👍 Much love from the UK 🇬🇧 🙌
Excellent video, as always, my good sir.
I cannot believe they never followed up on the men who passed the barricade and went up there in the middle of the night
Crazy isn't it

That's Karma and how it works. Her spirit made sure that they didn't get their mushrooms...

One of the things I think make your presentations of these kinds of cases so much better is how thorough you are. You will actually go to the site of the disappearance, when able. You don't just rely on reports other people wrote. I really appreciate your work. Thank you.

That being said, I think a large majority of "paranormal" incidents have other explanations, but I do think there are things that we can't explain with science yet, that can and do happen. If I hadn't experienced what I did, I wouldn't have believed someone else if they told me the story of my own experience, that's how bizarre and unbelievable it really is.
So many of these tragedies seem preventable. If i have learned Anything from these excellent programs, it is that no one should Ever go into a wilderness area alone, and without sharing with others exactly where you will be and when you can be expected back..
