Personally, I've just about stopped using Facebook. It doesn't work well for me. I still advertise in print, but have my own inline presence as well. A numbeer of other photographers are also abandoning Fb. * This is a very important video. I'm glad it's here.

I'm so glad that main stream media is covering this "news" story, 15-20 years after the change (the real news) took place. Way to stay on top of things!!!
... and this is the reason that main stream media is dying!

the point about La Presse is true. French newspapers are more protected because majority of online bloggers and digital media is targetted for anglophones. the French market for newspapers will still survive but English newspapers are on decline.

If you've ever seen Le Journal De Montreal's website, it's really unique and fresh. Blocks of images are slapped together in a very easy to look at UI. Le Journal De Montreal has gotten their shit together. Compare that to CBC's website, and they're miles ahead.

you made me go look and what you say is still true (made more sense to me and i don't speak french). I do support public content to be clear.

An important reason why you should still read newspapers is that they contain Public Notices. Such notices may be intentions to carry out weather modification projects. For example, in Montana: "A person holding a valid weather modification license must receive a permit before engaging in actual weather modification and control activities. Separate permits are required for each operation. A permit applicant must also file a notice of intention. The notice must include the applicant's name
and address; the nature, purpose, and objective of the intended operation and the person or organization on whose behalf the operation will be conducted; the approximate time during which the operation will be conducted; the area affected; and the materials and methods that will be used. The DNRC must publish the notice at least once a week for two consecutive weeks in a newspaper having general circulation in the affected county(ies)."

Now you understand why newspapers are still important!

Why would you want to carry around a newspaper _and_ your phone?

Should also add that it's kind of strange the decline in print is largely tracked over the past 10 years. Print was pretty much dying 20 years ago. Or it was apparent it had no future.

How about completely independent journalist that are not following someone’s else agenda. We could find them on the internet just like every other info you want to find. That is what I do, because I want to figure out myself what information I need. No propaganda

Born in early 80's, I have never subscribed to cable TV, newspapers or magazines. Yet, I would say I eat up more media than the average person..... all online. I look forward to the day traditional delivery of media finally lets go. Netflix, online newspapers, podcasts, youtube etc. are only the beginning of the future.

Born in about the same time. Never had any subs of any kind. Games for me were more interesting than any other entertainment medium. And what a money saver in retrospect.

The CBC that gets unlimited amount of government and taxpayers money is discussing the Low readership of newspapers how about the CBC discuss the little viewership of their programs or why doesn't the government takeover a newspaper in Canada and just give it the taxpayers money like the CBC

The only people who buy printed newspapers are the older generation anyone under 30 goes on eBay and things like that for their advertisement so in 40 to 50 years time they will be hardly any printed newspapers because everyone will be doing it through the internet when I was young I used to buy a newspaper because that was the only source of news at the time but things change and nobody knows what else is going to get invented in the future which is going to affect some other industry

Maybe if they did their job we would still be reading. Propaganda don't appeal to the thug in me.
