Every time I have disassembled a Sony controller (ps4&ps5) for stick drift it is because hair is falling down into the mechanism. Follow the video, it's a decent one, and look for loose hair both on the mother board around the stick mechanism, around the sides of the mechanism itself, especially between the actuator and the button, and inside the stick bezel of the top cover. I just pulled about a dozen 1/2" hairs from inside mine to eliminate stick drift. The mechanism itself cannot be disassembled so if that's actually broken you're SOL.
Stick drift mainly with the left joystick seems to be a common occurrence. Experiencing same with my 1-2 week old PS5 all of a sudden and searches reveal this to be the case. Great controller but for the joysticks as they are potentiometer modules.
@@davidtsmith33 yes after repeated cleaning potentiometer was determined faulty, replacements are $2.50 a piece and fairly technical to remove, switched to a pro controller with hall-effect sticks so I'll never have the same problem again.
I followed the instructions but were a bit rough and tore the green wires on the motherboard, anyone know how I can fix them ? I learned they control L1 and R1
Why are you unplugging left and right ribbon wires? If you're doing this soley to spray paint it you just need the shells off...the only ribbon wire you have to unplug is touch screen unless I'm missing something.
Okay, I was missing something...it is necessary. Appologies!!! I have another question...doesn't seem to be a mechanism or spot to hold mics where they're supposed to be, how do they stay in proper spot? Is it juat held together by the controller when it is fully assembeld?
For anyone trying to remove the mic from the controller, pull the black cover off, then cut the mic connection to the controller, and then just pull it out and put cover back on. I used my fingernails to take black cover off and a steak knife to cut the connection. Tested immediately afterwards and plugged in mic still works. No more having to unmute controller to be able to chat with friends, and re mute it when not.
not a joke, actually works. do it if, like I said, you dont want to have to constantly mute and unmute your controller. if you know anything about electronics, you would know its not a joke @@mattybxrp6766

@@SMfryspants Where did you get a controller with hall effect sticks? Is it for the PS5? My searches revealed none available currently...for PS5.
Appreciate this so much
I followed the instructions but were a bit rough and tore the green wires on the motherboard, anyone know how I can fix them ? I learned they control L1 and R1
Did the pad lift off as well? Or just wire broke? If pads been pulled off, will be harder.
Nice, another video where they stop before getting to the d pad
Why are you unplugging left and right ribbon wires? If you're doing this soley to spray paint it you just need the shells off...the only ribbon wire you have to unplug is touch screen unless I'm missing something.
Okay, I was missing something...it is necessary. Appologies!!! I have another question...doesn't seem to be a mechanism or spot to hold mics where they're supposed to be, how do they stay in proper spot? Is it juat held together by the controller when it is fully assembeld?
I broke my mix 😑
For anyone trying to remove the mic from the controller, pull the black cover off, then cut the mic connection to the controller, and then just pull it out and put cover back on. I used my fingernails to take black cover off and a steak knife to cut the connection. Tested immediately afterwards and plugged in mic still works. No more having to unmute controller to be able to chat with friends, and re mute it when not.
Don't do this. Pretty sure it's a joke..but some might do this.
not a joke, actually works. do it if, like I said, you dont want to have to constantly mute and unmute your controller. if you know anything about electronics, you would know its not a joke @@mattybxrp6766
