“Age isn’t important” and “Enough talking” I like the cut of this guy’s jib. Let’s get past all that crap and how’s it taste!? Absolutely. Best review ever
This is simply the most exciting whiskey I've yet tasted (Alex is not exaggerating in his praise). Its a bold, very strong flavor that is so well rounded with its amber, caramel character. A real giant. I am a huge fan. Cheers Aberlour!
a'bunadh stands up there with and even surpasses some of the 21yo single malts I have tasted. One of, if not my favourite single malt I have tasted thus far!
I can't get enough A'bunadh. Every time I find a shop which has any, I buy it all up
I should probably start saving some bottles
Bought this for Christmas. The absolute best scotch whiskey i've tried so far. Very strong. Fantastic taste. Adding water is a must.
I bought a bottle the other day of batch 65 for my first time having. I poured my self a dram a few nights later and I was very impressed, at 59.5 alc. I was stymied that is was not pure gasoline. This stuff is very dangerous. I went back to the small liquor store I found this bottle at and bought his remaining 2 batch 65's of A'Bunadh. This is now one of my favorites and will be drank on special occasions!
Aberlour Distillery is now on our itinerary for next month! Thanks Alex and SMTV.
I have just purchased a bottle of this marvellous Whisky,on the strength of this video. Thank you so much. What can I say other than WOW! This whisky is very special.
Sweet caramel. Best value for money of any whisky.
We all agree. It really is a nice drop. Cheers.
Just savored my first few drams tonight. This is fantastic stuff.
@legandrydirk Sounds like you thoroughly enjoyed the experience. Thanks for the comment.
@SingleMaltTv No problem Mate, Merry Christmas and have a great new year!
i have batch# 44 this is a truly amazing whiskey with bombastic flavours
one to savour over and over again
UNBELIEVABLE SON!! FANTASTIC !! ABSOLUTELY BBUUURRIFUL
@BertAtkin Hey thanks for the comment and yes...it really is a spectacular drop. Glad you enjoyed the video AND the whisky. Cheers.
One of the few NAS whiskies that I am not avoiding... It's good quality and has been around long before the trend towards NAS bottlings started.
I would think that age is a factor but one of the nicer drams I had this year was a Bruicladdich Rocks which I heard is around 8yrs. This edition of Aberlour sounds interesting!
My absolute favorite single malt. Glad I pronounce it properly lol
This is amazing stuff!
My current bottle is batch #67 @ 59.8% and I generally like it in that kind of a glass over a single ice cube. Good stuff.
I look forward to doing that, and I'll be posting a video response here. The quality is easy enough to see, just from the look on Alex's face.
Batch 45 now, think I love this batch more then 42. I drink mine neat, or with 2 teaspoons of water.
Finally available in Virginia. My order is in. Can't wait!
@Morag11951 Thanks for the comment. Alex will be pleased. Cheers.
one of my top 5 whiskys for sure and probably my absolute favourite non-peat (or very little) whiskys ive ever hadSimply a whisky I keep buying more of because its so damn good
It has to be my favourite too. I’ve bought a Glendronach 21 after having the 18, hopefully it surpasses the A’bunadh but not sure it will. The A’bunadh is absolute class
Wow! Beautiful red and black cherry flavor. Like pie. More sherry flavor than in any Scotch I've ever had. Definitely benefits from water, though I would add just enough to turn it from rosy to orange.
I'll be purchasing a bottle today for the bachelor party of one of my best friends this weekend. It's his favorite whiskey. I hope he'll share a bit so that I can sample it!
Bought it again for Christmas. So far I've been able to hold off opening the bottle.
Batch 42 , again, made me happy, again. Only problem the bottle empties too quickly.
I just purchased a bottle on recommendation. Anticipating this will be gladly accepted by my senses.
Surprised to see him add so much water. Won't be spoiling it with tap water though haha.
This stuff is so good sometimes I just take out the bottle to smell it.
@highlander11339 Thanks for the thoughtful comment. Have to agree with you it is a splendid drop. Will pass your comment on to Alex. Cheers
@cattnipp Good observation...the distillery should use that as a selling point.
Drinking a batch 50 right now. Just a brilliant dram.
I have ordered 2 bottles yesterday. I tried batch 29 from friend and from that day it was on top of my whisky's ever.
Im not sure which batch I will get tho ( seller didnt state) but Im sure it will be amazing one!
This was the first cask strength whiskey I ever drank. I give it high markets
@SingleMaltTv Yes I will be buying a bottle of it soon. And will be drinking it in the pub.I usually get J.D in the boozer. As I really dont know what to get there.I found another one I like from Arran to.And its very sweet like Singletons
just got my first bottle of A'Bunadh batch 68
@Odseus When I tried it,after a McCalluims.I thought my sister gave me a liquir, with the texture of it.It then hit the back of the throat, and it was un mistakibly whiskey.I had water in mines to,slanga my friend.
What batch did you have?
Wow he really does not want to talk about the age
On this one...it just doesn't matter. A'Bunadh is just that good. I can't own a bottle because it won't last a week. I have to go to the bar and drink it single glass.
Age is just not critical to quality.
It’s in fact the other way around. And the A’bunadh is superb. Age doesn’t matter here.
Have it sitting there unopened as yet as I have the 10yo opened, and am going to get the 12yo as its reduced at the moment; then when I have all three together, I'll open the A'bunadh, and compare all three - can't wait! :D
What if you don't like any of them ?
So, what was the verdict?
I grew a wee bit suspicious when Alex said -
1:50 "age isn't important; quality of the casks are important".
I ordinarily gauge a S.M Scotch Whisky by it's age (few exceptions).
HOWEVER, after a dram of this; It demanded my respect & I obliged.
Bravo.
Batch 55 here at 60.9% ... Slainte'!
spectaculr stuff abnd make no mistake about!
and you won't be disappointed...make sure you let us know what you think
while I agree age is important, I have sampled several batches of this whiskey and have enjoyed all of them. Perhaps I'm lucky... I think this is a good whiskey, maybe a bit over priced but still good. I do like it with a bit of water but it's definitely drinkable without. That being said I haven't met an aberlour I haven't liked.
Alex, you mean the addition of water, right? ;-)))
Age is important.
Is it natural colour?
age is important , price is important , availability is important .
if you like that color so much then why do you add caramel color?
does A'Bunadh add any coloring cause i heard a lot of Aberlour whiskeys do
@Riotstarter100 Add water
It's better without water - both for nosing and taste
too much emphasis is given to age I have had 10 yo that are better than 20 yo
This w the first cask Strega p
My
Age isn't the only consideration, but it's ridiculous to suggest it unimportant to scotch whisky. If it were so, we'd all be drinking 2 and 3 year old single malt and not think twice.
due to regulations we'll never be drinking 2 Year old scotch.
Right. But, to be fair, comparing a 4-year-old to a 12-year-old is GENERALLY going to be a blowout, but I’ve had a bunch of Scotches that tested better, to ME, than others more expensive and several years older. In some cases, many years older. Age is big thing, but certainly not the only thing.
@MaqAttaq1
yeah and for numbing your mouth to taste less...
age is the most important issue for consumers that don't know about whisky. probably because they will let age decide the quality for them. he makes it very clear that cask strength and exceptional sherry casks are the key features here. and cask strength doesn't make whisky specially inexpensive neither
Can I have this with coke
Lol just kidding 😆
Absolutely the most engaging review of any product I've ever seen, well done!
Drinking from a batch 32 here... Finding this to be a complete disappointment. Tastes like young grainy whisky. The finish is swift on this one, the arrival and development resemble each other. Not really much here to appreciate. Spent a solid 75 bucks USD on it... Can't say it was worth it. This being my first Aberlour, I've got a bad impression of the bran now. Oh well, threw away my money again. Happens in the Scotch whisky industry too often.
What do you normally drink ?
I like the 16-year-old much better, but didn’t find this one to be bad at all.
@@utoobia ah man... wish I could still drink. This was 6 years ago when I wasn't being drug tested on the regular. Damn ETGS tests... can't even sneak in a quick dram!
I don't have much respect for this bloke. Age info is inportant to help guide our taste and the Distillers should be forthcoming with that information. No age-Not Important-B.S.
you're wrong bubba..you made several mistakes...first of all AGE is important..it is the most important fact, when we talk about whisky...master-blenders are not tasting it on 20% of alcohol..it's 35%
nosing and tasting at 20%!!??!!?? what!!? you wouldn't taste or smell anything...!
UNBELIEVABLE SON!! FANTASTIC !! ABSOLUTELY BBUUURRIFUL
Just opened a bottle...I'm shocked by the extend of its magnificents :)
