    Love these DIY “pot extenders”!
    I have a regular flowering anthurium, got it as an offshoot from my grandma last spring. It’s currently sitting bare-rooted in a glass of water, waiting to be potted up in a LECA-type medium. I’ve submerged the lowest aerial roots in the water and I’m planning on burying it deeper in the pot because it had gotten wobbly while it was still in soil and I had to stake it

      @mixonplantsncrafts you seem very natural to me! I am only a year in, but it's hard at first. I don't have the nerve to be in front of the camera. Lol. It's been fun. Great plant community on UA-cam.

      @@mixonplantsncrafts mine needs something. The last leaf isn’t maturing so maybe it requires more root growth. I also moved it down to an area with less dry heat on it.

    Suggest another method, place 4 poles (better long one) surrounding the plant stem, then wrap around the poles with food wrapper (2CM type). You can wrap until the level of top part of chunk. The benefit of using this method is able to cover those area which still have petiole easily, and also can extend higher in future when the plant grow taller (so is better to use longer pole in first place).

      Ok, That's a great idea. I can see roots in my pot extender now and I love that. I'll try your method and tag you in it on my next pot refresh.

    Do you wet the moss? It seems like you are applying it dry. Beautiful plants, new subscriber💚🌸

      Hi there, thanks so much for being here. The moss was moist but not wet. I did spray it a little once that extension was built. I have an updated video on the extension as well. Some there a lot of changes and some not so much.

    I just wrap my anthiriums with damp moss at the top and leave them exposed. I plant in lechuza however so it stays minimally damp

    • @mixonplantsncrafts
      @mixonplantsncrafts  8 місяців тому +1

      I used to do that and it worked well but didn't plant in PON. Now, I have 2 in PON so I'll try that.

      @djhiggins4431 7 місяців тому

      @mixonplantsncrafts actually after re-watching this and now that it's getting warmer out...I'm starting to think the best solution is to plastic wrap moss or what ever substrate you want around the anthurium..essentially what you're doing here. With pon I've had no issues with damp moss on top

    • @mixonplantsncrafts
      @mixonplantsncrafts  7 місяців тому

      @@djhiggins4431 Yes, I think Pod would work too with some kind of plastic "cup" around it. I know they sell them but i'm on a budget so I'm used to making it myself. Let me know how it works out. I'll be doing an update soon. :)

    Oohh I’d be afraid of stem rot.

    • @mixonplantsncrafts
      @mixonplantsncrafts  8 місяців тому

      I am afraid of that as well With each water I do lift the moss and check. :) I'm thinking I might add one to an actual moss pole.

  • @hennesseyme9112
    @hennesseyme9112 4 місяці тому

    Why did you add moss at the top?

    • @mixonplantsncrafts
      @mixonplantsncrafts  4 місяці тому

      I added moss as top to increase humidity around the stem, promote root growth and then I get bigger leaves. It's worked well for me so far.
