I like this kind of video! And it'll be a nice reference for you in the future.
Your plants are beautiful they survive. Love it. 31:20
I have killed several Calatheas so I will not purchase again until I find someone that is willing to help me! The goldfish plant and Aglaonema Beauty are next on my wishlist but I have no idea what my odds are 🪴
I recommend plant nurseries as well. Since they are actively growing the plants they will have better advice and tips. One tip that works for me is to actually get an established plant that is a common houseplant to start. Like an 8 inch or larger. They are typically hardier. Starter plants while cheaper are more sensitive to learning curves. Large plants will teach you routine, realistic maintenance and care for that genus in my experience. Just be mindful that everyone will have their own experience and to take everything with a grain of salt.
I love your recommendation. I agree with that. Get a larger plant to teach you the routine. Awesome tips.
Adorable 💕💕💕
Thank you! :)
*Philodendron 😅
LOL!
Until recently, I couldn't keep pothos alive in soil...mine is in a vase of water. One of my first plants when I started collecting was a trailing asparagus fern.
Maybe I need to move mine pothos to water or even LECA. I didn't think about that. Asparagus ferns are very beautiful but I'm afraid I would kill them. haha!
Which plants should someone who kills cactus choose? I feel I should be banned from the garden section for harming plants😢 I do love look at beautiful plants ❤
Every plants needs some kind of care so you'll have to think about what level of care are you willing to give.
It was so long ago, so I don’t remember very well but I think my beginner plant was a regular kalanchoe prop I got from a friend. It grew so well, the more I neglected it, the better it felt, and even bloomed for me because it was dry, cold and dark 😂 So I would recommend that one. I was also very attracted to flowering annuals like petunias, violets and lobelias because I got to have flowers on my balcony. It was a good gateway into plantcare because you have them for one season, you learn about watering and pruning and then you take a break.
So funny because of just purchased a kalanchoe to avoid shipping fees on a plant order this week. LOL!
Hello Plant Friends - Let me know which plants you find the easiest to care for or if you have any plant recommendations for beginners.
What soil mix do you use please?
For begonias I use about 70% potting mix, 10% orchid bark and 20 % perlite.
@ thank you so much

Oh gosh that genuinely keen
I had some Hoyas take their dear time to grow but I’m ok with it just because it is alive. I did however transfer most of them to pon and they like it a lot. I did notice my bigger leaf Hoyas are very slow but they are growing. I’d give it time and do some research on the care of them.
Thanks for the great tips! I’m really getting into Hoyas, and I love researching everything about them.
Once I started watering my hoya more frequently, they started growing faster. And I don't find the globulosa to be difficult at all. But it needs more water than you'd think.
Oh thank you for that tip. Not all hoyas are the same. :)
Yay, I was so happy to see your video! You’re turning into a legit Hoya head 😄These ones look interesting! Maybe they grow slowly because they have bigger leaves? I’ve heard that small-leaf hoyas grow much faster. Also, some plants are just slower, not even the species but individual plants, I don’t know why 🤷🏻♀️ I’m sure they’ll pick up the pace now that the roots are more developed and they’ve acclimated to your home ❤️
More Hoya unboxings are on the way-LOL! I’ll have to check back on what you mentioned about the Hoyas with bigger leaves. I’m sure the change in light this fall is affecting them too since the lighting in the plant room has shifted.
@ that too, growing season has passed, unfortunately 😕
WHAT IS THE SECOND ONE? I have it in my room and have no clue!
Philodendron 'Red Emerald' I love the green classic leaves. I really have to start taking care of it too.
Do you put an air stone in the water with the albo cutting that rotted? To keep the water a little oxygenated? Sometimes that helps my cuttings. I also use an eye dropper to give the water some liquid root stimulator. 😊👀❤️❤️❤️🪴🪴🪴🪴🪴
I like the air stone idea. I’m moving it to moss soon but think I’ll get an air stone, thanks for the idea.
CONGRATS ON 1K!!!!!!!!! My plant room...is also a mess. I really need to reorganize up here and also in the basement where my repotting area (aka my cutting table) and extra pots are.
Thank you! I wish I had another room for my sewing stuff 😂🤣 I’ll be moving a few things to the basement. Getting organized in 2025 😂😂. Thanks for being here.
@@mixonplantsncrafts All my sewing stuff got yeeted into the basement! 🤣
@@natjoy22 Is your basement finished? Ours is not but if it was the sewing room would be in there. LOL!
@@mixonplantsncrafts Nope! concrete floor and cement walls and cobwebs!
😂
Your hair is just as amazing as your plants 🪴 ,watching both ☺️
Aw, thank you! 🖤 thank you for being here.

I love update videos, it makes me feel like I’m checking up on someone’s plants and I get invested in them 😄 I love the new leaf on your Thai Con and the Hoya blooms were incredible! Are you going to plant your cane begonias outside next year? 😁 This month I’ve been happy with my plants’ growth. The only problem I have is there seem to be some scale on some of them that used to be on the balcony 😕 Thankfully, scale doesn’t travel easily, so I just have to make sure plants aren’t touching and I have to find an effective treatment for this. I will also have to go in and manually get rid of what I can see, probably pay attention to each leaf as I do the treatments, which sounds so tedious 😩
I think I’ll do some begonias in Spring. The only bad thing is I would not be able to enjoy them. We’ll see. I’ve not had scale before but I think that it easily fixable. Cleaning each leaf so fun 🤣😂🤣😂 Thanks for being here.
❤❤❤❤ I feel that
😅
Too cute! And also extremely valid reasoning. This is why you need a variety! 🌵🌷🌳🪻🎋🌿
That’s a great way to put it. 👏👏👏
My mom used to love plants. She now lives surrounded by them…
I want to be surrounded by them 😂

Good morning Rachel 😊 Great video. Thanks for sharing.
Good morning, thanks for watching. This was not my favorite but it had news about the channel so I didn't delete it. LOL!
@@mixonplantsncrafts I'm glad you didn't delete it!
@@planttherapy1860 Thank you :)
I like this type of repot where you chat about what’s to come on the channel. Also, I’m excited about the monthly recap videos and your plan to push your plants to see how much they can grow in optimal conditions. I think putting the begonia in a more moisture retaining mix is a good idea. I don’t know why some people put everything in a chunky airy mix 😅 Anyway, thanks for the lovely video, hope the spider mites finally leave you alone! 🫶
I have just begun collecting plants and it is definitely an addiction. I never knew what I was missing honestly. I have some absolutely beautiful creatures in my bedroom, and it’s crazy I don’t feel alone anymore. These plants provide love and energy that was missing from my room. I am truly feeling blessed by them ❤
your hair is beautiful just like your plants
Aw, thank you and thanks for being here.
Ive tried and failed miserably
Which plant?
Beautiful 😍
Thanks dear
How are they holding up?
They are doing great. I did a youtube video on this a few months.

Top tier quotes: “If I damage some roots, I’m okay with that. Thanks for the video, friend! Is that maybe an Imperial Red? They are all so similar. And you schooled me today! I had ZERO clue Tortum had 2 forms. Mind blown!
Some people say it’s not true but some say it is. I believe it is and somehow I have both. 😂🤣😂 thanks for being here.
I looked out the imperial red and yes. It looks just like that. 😄
@@mixonplantsncrafts I had one until mine got pests. But I LOVE my Imperial Green! Wanna trade? I have pups I can seperate!
@@mixonplantsncrafts Of course I'm here! Love you, friend!
I’m trying to not get these plants that can get large right now but a Hoya cutting is always welcomed 😀
Can you propogate a begonia with a leaf
Certain ones, I think the Rex begonias you can. I’ve done so with the begonia summer storm.
Hello. I'm new, but I enjoy watching and learning from you. This is my 2nd video from you. You explain things like we're friends...not like you're a know it all.
Awww, I love that. I always do these videos like I'm on facetime with a friend. Thanks so much for being here. This made my morning even better than coffee. LOL!
I love to watch you repot and love your updates as well. That variegated ginger plant really took off! Hope your peperomia starts doing more for you, it looks fine otherwise. And I wish I lived closer to you because that baby philodendron looks cute 😊
So sorry about your baby. I have 2 of my own. I understand the purge. I’ve done so just recently and it feels refreshing. Hope all is well. Thank you for sharing.
It’s been so challenging but I believe he’s on the mend but still not 100%. Thanks so much for being here. Those with fur babies can understand.
